The loss Friday night to Oregon Tech eliminated VCSU from the World Series as they end their season with 54-5 overall record.<\/p>\n<p>No. 10 seed Oregon Tech (44-16) advances to play another loser-out game Saturday at 7 p.m. The Owls will play No. 8 seed Georgia Gwinnett.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.naia.org\/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=27900&amp;ATCLID=211718417\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.naia.org\/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID%3D27900%26ATCLID%3D211718417&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1558868279550000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGlskBu7q__TyFQBY3iPFTnkv93zw\">World Series Schedule &amp; Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Vikings struck first with a single run in the top of the first inning.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/24\/9\/2526\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/24\/9\/2526&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1558868279550000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFtv0quAwJBaeSfJIqsIf1fXdlujQ\">Joelle Aiello<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/24\/9\/2515\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/24\/9\/2515&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1558868279550000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGzJaA0Ma3rOZckSSutREacHlk6Sg\">Voni Culp<\/a>\u00a0opened the game with back-to-back singles. Aiello then stole third base and later came in to score on a throw to second base. Valley City State\u2019s rally fizzled out though as a groundout and strikeout left two runners in scoring position.<\/p>\n<p>Oregon Tech did not waste anytime answering back as Ali Graham pulled a two-run home run to left field, putting the Owls ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the first inning. It was the first home run give up all season by VCSU pitcher\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/24\/9\/2637\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/24\/9\/2637&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1558868279550000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGhv8ja0Ht3QQ1c-XnPilXFQ2Z0qw\">Emilee Wilson<\/a>.\u00a0Oregon Tech would lead the rest of the way, tacking on two more runs in the second inning and two more in the fifth inning to build a 6-1 lead.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson started and took the loss for VCSU, giving up four hits and four runs over two innings. She did not walk a batter and struck out one.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/24\/9\/2641\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/24\/9\/2641&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1558868279550000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHnYLHK49578KpJmkcyZgCyruDy_A\">Amber Stewart<\/a>pitched the final four innings for the Vikings, giving up four hits and three runs. She did not walk a batter and struck out three.<\/p>\n<p>Aiello was 1-for-3 and scored a run to lead VCSU\u2019s offense.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/24\/9\/2515\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/24\/9\/2515&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1558868279550000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGzJaA0Ma3rOZckSSutREacHlk6Sg\">Voni Culp<\/a>\u00a0was 1-for-3, and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/24\/9\/2520\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/24\/9\/2520&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1558868279550000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFDe8uDy_cQ53hiRbmknuwM50GI2A\">Jayme Menard<\/a>\u00a0doubled as she went 2-for-3 at the plate.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/24\/9\/2525\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/24\/9\/2525&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1558868279550000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHWIsJ-MvuHSy1Ph5-qXyByHsSntQ\">Autumn Perry<\/a>added a hit as VCSU finished with five total hits.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City State\u2019s record season included 54 wins \u2013 shattering the old school record of 40 \u2013 and the program\u2019s third appearance at the NAIA World Series. VCSU set more than a dozen team or individual records this season and won the NSAA Regular Season Championship, the NSAA Tournament Championship and the NAIA Opening Round Championship.
