Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0\u00a0 Stutsman County Emergency Manager, Jerry Bergquist says, on Monday, August 5, 2019, local emergency response agencies will be participating in a full-scale training exercise beginning at Jamestown Regional Airport and concluding at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.\u00a0 The exercise is designed to test local emergency operations plans and response capabilities that relate to an aviation incident.<\/p>\n

Emergency response agencies will react to an airplane crash scenario where volunteers will act as crash victims with injuries that could possibly be sustained in a real aviation accident.\u00a0 Participating response agencies will test their skills at the scene and some of the actors will be transported to the hospital to continue the simulation.<\/p>\n

This is NOT<\/u> a real event; however, the simulated response will be as realistic as possible.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The exercise will begin at approximately 6:30 pm on Monday evening and will largely take place at Jamestown Regional Airport and Jamestown Regional Medical Center.\u00a0 Emergency response vehicles utilized during the exercise will be staged in the Jamestown High School parking lot before the exercise starts.\u00a0 Emergency vehicles may be responding with lights and sirens but will follow all normal traffic rules.<\/p>\n

For the safety of the responders and to lessen traffic congestion, law enforcement will be limiting airport access from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.\u00a0 Only emergency response vehicles, participating personnel, and those individuals with a specific need to be on airport property will be allowed access.<\/p>\n

Participating agencies and organizations in this exercise include: Jamestown Regional Airport, Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Jamestown Fire Department, Jamestown Area Ambulance, Jamestown Police Department, Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Stutsman County Communications Center, Central Valley Health District, North Dakota Highway Patrol, American Red Cross, Freedom Resource Center, SkyWest Airlines and Stutsman County Emergency Management.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Jamestown Public Works informs residents that mosquito fogging operations will take place on Monday, August 5, 2019 and Thursday, August 8, 2019 between approximately 9:30 PM (dusk) until approximately 6:00 AM.
\nParents are advised to keep children out of the streets and away from the fogging machines.
\nMotorists are urged to use caution when traveling in the vicinity of the fogging units.
\nAll fogging operations are contingent upon weather conditions.

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Annual Block Party in Downtown Jamestown is set for WEDNESDAY August 28, 2019.<\/p>\n

On Friday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce Executive, Emily Bivens said it was moved from Thursday to Wednesday this year, because the University of Jamestown\u2019s home football opener against Valley City is on the Thursday that week.<\/p>\n

She said vendor registrations are being accepted now at the University of Jamestown\u2019s website uj.edu.<\/a><\/p>\n

The event from 5-p.m., to 8-p.m. welcomes new UJ \u00a0students who walk down the hill from UJ in their orange shirts, to join community members downtown.<\/p>\n

The Community Block Party is a city wide event designed to welcome UJ students to Jamestown, and familiarize them with Jamestown businesses and organizations.<\/p>\n

Main street in downtown Jamestown will be\u00a0 blocked off, and booths are setup along the side of the road to give away food, drinks, prizes and information. Some booths will also feature music and games!<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 The James River Humane Society is spotlighting “Beatrice,” a three year old cat, looking for her “forever home.”<\/p>\n

Humane Society President Gary Sahr on Friday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 said Beatrice is a little shy at first, but would make a wonderful pet.<\/p>\n

He added that she has been at the shelter longer than the other cats, and is anxious to find a home.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A federal appeals court says North Dakota’s voter identification requirements are constitutional, rejecting an argument by a group of American Indians who said they are a form of voter suppression.<\/p>\n

A three-judge panel of the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the state Wednesday, overturning a lower court ruling.<\/p>\n

North Dakota’s law requires voters to show ID with a residential street address, which American Indians have argued is not always evident on reservations. They also say many tribal members aren’t aware of their address, don’t have a provable one because they’re homeless or stay with friends or relatives, or can’t afford to get an updated ID with a street address.<\/p>\n

Members of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa sued the state in 2016 over the ID requirements.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota’s Health Department says more than 10,000 gallons of oil has spilled from a pipeline in Williams County.<\/p>\n

The agency says in a statement that the spill was reported Friday by Samson Oil & Gas USA Inc.<\/p>\n

Environmental scientist Brian O’Gorman says the spill occurred Thursday north of Williston at a well pad and affected a small patch of nearby grassland.<\/p>\n

O’Gorman says the cause of the spill is under investigation. He says no water sources were affected.<\/p>\n

O’Gorman says about 4,200 gallons had been recovered by late Friday afternoon and the spill was contained.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 A U.S. Marine has been charged with fatally shooting a fellow Marine in the head inside the barracks on Capitol Hill.<\/p>\n

Lance Cpl. Andrew Johnson has been charged with murder in the death of 20-year-old Lance Cpl. Riley Kuznia on New Year’s Day. He’s also charged with negligent homicide and involuntary manslaughter.<\/p>\n

A charge sheet obtained by The Marine Corps Times Thursday says Johnson shot Kuznia, a native of Karlstad, Minn., after pointing a handgun at him and pulling the “trigger in jest.”<\/p>\n

The case will move to an Article 32 hearing on Aug. 22 at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia. The proceeding is public and similar to a preliminary hearing in civilian court.<\/p>\n

It’s unclear if Johnson is being detained and whether he has an attorney.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 President Donald Trump says his pick for national intelligence director has decided to withdraw from the running, citing unfair media coverage.<\/p>\n

In a tweet Friday, Trump said Republican Rep. John Ratcliffe of Texas had decided to stay in Congress. Questions about Ratcliffe’s experience have dogged him since Trump announced his candidacy five days ago.<\/p>\n

Trump didn’t cite any specific media reports, but tweeted that “rather than going through months of slander and libel,” he would be returning to Capitol Hill.<\/p>\n

Trump accepted the resignation of former Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats last week.<\/p>\n

Ratcliffe is a frequent Trump defender who fiercely questioned former special counsel Robert Mueller during a House Judiciary Committee hearing last week. Intelligence experts had criticized his lack of experience in the field of intelligence.<\/p>\n

NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 A lawyer for the officer accused of using a chokehold in the death of Eric Garner says his client is disappointed an administrative judge recommended his firing.<\/p>\n

But the lawyer says he remains “cautiously optimistic” the officer ultimately won’t be dismissed.<\/p>\n

Attorney Stuart London said Friday that Officer Daniel Pantaleo did nothing wrong and plans to keep fighting for his job.<\/p>\n

Pantaleo was suspended Friday pending a final decision by Police Commissioner James O’Neill.<\/p>\n

London and police union leader Patrick Lynch urged O’Neill to stand up for Pantaleo, saying officers otherwise won’t feel they can do their jobs without losing them.<\/p>\n

London says he’ll appeal to a court if Pantaleo is fired.<\/p>\n

Garner’s dying pleas of “I can’t breathe” in 2014 became a rallying cry against police brutality.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 President Donald Trump is tweeting about a reported burglary at the Baltimore home of Rep. Elijah Cummings. Trump has denigrated Cummings this week, calling his majority-black district a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess.”<\/p>\n

On Friday, Trump tweeted, “Really bad news! The Baltimore house of Elijah Cummings was robbed. Too bad!”<\/p>\n

Police said they received a report of a burglary at 3:40 a.m. Saturday at a West Baltimore home, but it was unknown whether property was taken. The Baltimore Sun, citing state property records, reported the break-in happened at Cummings’ home.<\/p>\n

Cummings’ House Oversight and Reform Committee has been investigating Trump family members serving in the White House.<\/p>\n

The break-in came hours before Trump launched a Twitter tirade against Cummings.<\/p>\n

Andy Eichar, Cummings’ press secretary, said Thursday Cummings was unavailable for comment.<\/p>\n

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) \u2014 Legislators in Puerto Rico are grilling the man who might become the next governor of a U.S. territory mired in political turmoil.<\/p>\n

Former congressional representative Pedro Pierluisi sat alone as he faced more than two dozen legislators in the first of two public hearings being held Friday just hours before Gov. Ricardo Rossell\u00f3 is scheduled to resign.<\/p>\n

The room was packed with current and former government officials Friday, while Puerto Ricans across the island remain unclear who might be their next leader.<\/p>\n

Members of a House committee met with Pierluisi first, and then the House of Representatives is scheduled to debate the nomination before a vote.<\/p>\n

Justice Secretary Wanda V\u00e1zquez could become governor if Pierluisi is not approved.<\/p>\n
