{"id":178191,"date":"2019-08-22T16:58:09","date_gmt":"2019-08-22T21:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=178191"},"modified":"2019-08-23T10:05:02","modified_gmt":"2019-08-23T15:05:02","slug":"committee-recommends-storm-water-rates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=178191","title":{"rendered":"Committee recommends storm water rates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-66331\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/cityhall-488-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/cityhall-488-300x202.jpg 300w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/cityhall-488-259x175.jpg 259w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/cityhall-488.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown City Council\u2019s Police &amp; Fire Committee and\u00a0 Public Works Committee met Thursday evening at City Hall<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All members were present.<\/p>\n<p><strong>POLICE &amp; FIRE COMMITTEE <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jamestown City Fire Chief Jim Reuther said with the ladder truck out of service, it was taken to West Fargo for repair work.\u00a0 He said there was a leveling problem, and the truck is still out of service being again taken out of town for additional work, at Land O Lakes, in Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>The Fire Chief pointed out that, the City of Jamestown and the state have an agreement that has\u00a0 the state providing funds to provide repair costs over $500.\u00a0 The ladder truck also provides fire protection for the high rise buildings at the North Dakota State Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>He said fire protection will still be available with other equipment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><b><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0 Stormwater utility fees presentation was made. \u00a0Alternatives were made on the rate structure, from feedback received, from the city council and the public, along with the process as it relates to parcels, concerning runoff, including vacant property and ag land.\u00a0 Three dollars per month fee to residential properties is one alternative in the report to support the utility.\u00a0 Another alternative is four dollars per month for all properties. Another is a base fee at\u00a0 $1.75 for each parcel, plus a number to be determined as a multiplier.<\/p>\n<p>The calculations show a rate fee of from$2.65\u00a0 to $23.65 per property, per month.<\/p>\n<p>After considering the alternatives, committee unanimously\u00a0 recommends, through a Resolution\u00a0 the rate of a one year minimum residential fee of $3.00 per month, as residents have been told.\u00a0 The monthly fee for all other properties is $4.00 per month.<\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends awarding the Rehabilitation of Wells 8 and 9 to Watersmith, in the amount of $42,416, to include labor, pumps, motors and drop pipe to be completed this fall.<\/p>\n<p>Travis Dillman with Interstate Engineering said, three quotes were received.\u00a0 The work will be performed by this fall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">An update was presented on Lift Station 20 and Master Lift Station Improvements and set the public meeting date for September 26, 2019 at 4:00 pm.
