WHAT IS CBD?\u00a0<\/strong>CBD is short for cannabidiol, one of the many compounds found in the two versions of the cannabis sativa plant, hemp and marijuana.\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a02018 Farm Bill<\/a>\u00a0signed into law last December makes it legal\u00a0to grow and market the hemp plant in all 50 states.\u00a0 Federal law requires hemp plants used to produce CBD do not contain more than 0.3% of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the compound that makes you high.\u00a0 However, because CBD and THC share the same plant, miniscule amounts of THC slip into CBD products and even though it\u2019s not enough to make you high, it\u2019s still enough to red flag a drug test.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. HOW IS CBD MADE?\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Most CBD is extracted from leaves, seeds, flowers and stalks of the cannabis plant.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

WHO TAKES CBD?\u00a0<\/strong>A 2019 national\u00a0survey by Consumer Reports<\/a>\u00a0(CR)\u00a0found 26% of Americans have tried CBD at least once in the past two years.\u00a0<\/strong>It is often\u00a0<\/strong>touted to help reduce stress, anxiety and joint pain or inflammation though the FDA has not approved any of these claims.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        1. IS THERE A WAY TO PREVENT A POSITIVE TEST RESULT?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>NO, but you should always read the packaging label!<\/u>\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 You should always check to see if the CBD product box has a\u00a0certificate of analysis or COA.\u00a0<\/em>\n

          1. You can see the COA by\u00a0scanning the QR<\/a>\u00a0code on the product packaging.<\/li>\n
          2. \u00a0If a QR code is not available, you should contact the manufacturer and request a copy of the COA.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

            The COA shows the results of the CBD maker\u2019s testing for THC, CBD and various other ingredients.\u00a0\u00a0 **Remember, the COA should say there is no more than 0.3% of THC in the product.<\/strong><\/p>\n
