A maximum of 15 minutes is allotted for the hearing. If the full 15 minutes are not needed, the City Council will continue with the agenda. The City Council will take<br \/>\nno official action on items discussed at the hearing, with the exception of referral to staff or Committee.)\u00a0\u00a0 No one spoke.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Council Member Buchanan asked that Item F be discussed separately.<\/p>\n<p>A Resolution to approve the findings of facts and determination of the remedy for an unpermitted structure in the floodway and floodway encroachment for Rodney and Shari Pettys to remove the encroaching structure (deck) by October 31, 2019.\u00a0 Property owner Rodney Pettys asked for an extension to be able to take down the deck and transport it over the ice covered river.<\/p>\n<p>The City Council voted to approve an extension to February 29, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Also approved was a Resolution to approve the request from the JSDC for an additional $200,000 in FlexPACE interest buy down funds for 2019 from the Economic Development Fund with the City Share to be $160,000, and paid from the City Sales Tax Fund, with any remaining 2019 funds to be used in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>REGULAR AGENDA<\/p>\n<p>RESOLUTIONS:<br \/>\nApproved \u00a0\u00a0was the request from AE2S to amend the current agreement for the Water Treatment Plant data security and alarm program to allow required reporting and data downloads at a monthly cost of $20 to be paid from the Water Utility Fund.<br \/>\nCOMMITTEE REPORTS:\u00a0 None were given.<\/p>\n<p>ORDINANCES:<br \/>\nA SECOND READING: Was approved unanimously,\u00a0 Ordinance No. 1520, to amend and re-enact a Section of the City Code to increase the City Sales Tax by one-half percent from two percent (2%) to two and one-half percent (2.5%) effective January 1, 2020.<br \/>\nMAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBER&#8217;S REPORT:<\/p>\n<p>Council Member Buchanan reported on the city fire department putting out a tree fire Monday near Denault and Solien \u00a0Park during the storm.<\/p>\n<p>The Strategic Planning retreat was held with the library board, which Council member Phillips attended.<\/p>\n<p>She said the 2020 city census steering committee met and planning for taking the 2020 census.<\/p>\n<p>She added that the an option to fill out the census is on line, and in March more information will be distributed.<\/p>\n<p>Council Member Steele said the recent block party was successful, as the street department help with the\u00a0 setup. He added the PopUp trail System public event will be on Saturday September 7.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Heinrich pointed out that those age and income eligible may apply for \u00a0a\u00a0 Homestead Tax Credit with applications available.<\/p>\n<p>OTHER BUSINESS..<\/p>\n<p>Approved was Change Order No. 1, to Border States Paving, Inc., for Seal Coat, Patching, Construction &amp; Reconstruction District #19-41, for an increase in the contract price of $26,665.14, at the request of Jamestown Public Schools, regarding parking lot improvements.<br \/>\nApproved was the request to recognize Rick Dilallo Cancer Benefit as an other public spirited organization and authorize the issuance of a raffle permit.<br \/>\nCouncil Members approved the request to recognize Heritage Centre Fundraising Committee as an other public spirited organization and authorize the issuance of a raffle permit.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was shown live on CSi Cable 67 followed by replays.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown City Council met in Regular session, Tuesday evening at City Hall.\u00a0\u00a0 All members were present.
