\"\"Jamestown\u00a0\u00a0 (Valley\u00a0 News Live.com<\/a>)\u00a0 <\/span>Jamestown Search & Rescue Dog Khloe was injured Friday night after a hit-and-run in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther is Khloe’s handler and says he takes blame for her getting out.<\/p>\n

“I opened the door and she took off,” he said. “She has done it before. I called dispatch and they’re usually pretty good in locating her, but she returned shortly afterwards and was bleeding profusely.”<\/p>\n

Reuther says he took Khloe to Dr. Dawn’s, who found that she had suffered no broken bones. He stated that his daughter located where Khloe had been hit, which was only about 30 feet away from the house.<\/p>\n

“There’s no broken bones, which is a positive. She’s just going to be laid up for a little while. She’s going to be okay.”<\/p>\n

Those with information are encouraged to say something on the case. But, Reuther says he’s not looking for donations or anything.<\/p>\n

“I take full blame for it,” he stated. “I’m not looking for donations or anything. I just think the biggest thing is we would have thought someone would have let us know. I’m sure they would want the same for their animals or even children.”<\/p>\n

While there is no law against hit and runs on dogs, Reuther just encourages people that if they hit a dog, cat, or other animal to tell someone.<\/p>\n
