{"id":181009,"date":"2019-09-26T10:13:46","date_gmt":"2019-09-26T15:13:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=181009"},"modified":"2019-09-26T10:39:52","modified_gmt":"2019-09-26T15:39:52","slug":"appeal-going-out-to-support-downtown-arts-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=181009","title":{"rendered":"Appeal going out to support, Downtown Arts Market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-170130\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/SchmitzMindi-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/SchmitzMindi-300x202.jpg 300w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/SchmitzMindi-260x175.jpg 260w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/SchmitzMindi.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Arts Center, has established a funding opportunity, for financial support for next year&#8217;s Downtown Arts Market, at Hansen Arts Park.\u00a0 The appeal will be extended to businesses.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Arts Center, Director, Mindi Schmitz said, the Arts Center is determining \u00a0support, while working on programs at the weekly summer event.\u00a0 She pointed out that businesses have stepped up in the past with support of the Arts Market.<\/p>\n<p>She pointed out that it costs between $1,000 and $2,000 for each Downtown Arts Market, running on Thursday evenings during, June, July and August.\u00a0 The Downtown Arts Market offers music, cultural activities and artisan and food vendors.<\/p>\n<p>She said no major changes are planned for next summer, although more vendors would be nice.\u00a0 Anyone with ideas, or suggestions is welcome to contact the Jamestown Arts Center, at 701-251-2496.<\/p>\n<p>Last summer when no food vendors were on hand, Jonny\u2019s B\u2019s Brickhouse, downtown supplied frozen pizzas, baked by Arts Center volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>Also on our show, Mindi said, the Arts Center is again hosting the Manhattan Short Film Festival, October 3 and 4, starting a 7-p.m., each evening running for about two and half hours.\u00a0 The showing on the 4<sup>th<\/sup> is the same as the 3<sup>rd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>The ten finalists are from five countries, with the final ten short films, among the 1250 submission from 70 countries.\u00a0 Admission is $10 for Arts Center members, $15 for non-members. Viewers can vote on the films, with awards to be given out in the future.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Arts Center Exhibit runs September 26 \u2013 November 2 with paintings by Melissa Post van der Burg from Maine, with the exhibit entitled, \u00a0\u201cHome in Maine: A Painters perspective.<br \/>\nAn artist luncheon is on Wednesday October 2 at noon at the Arts Center.\u00a0 The lunch costs $5, and RSVPs are needed.<\/p>\n<p>While in Jamestown, Melissa Post van der Burg will conduct Introductory Drawing\/Watercolor classes on Saturday\u2019s October 12 and 19, from 9-a.m., to noon.\u00a0 Details and registration at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jamestownarts.com\">www.jamestownarts.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On another note, Mindi said a few openings remain for Arts After School, with registration required.\u00a0 She added this school year the program features new teaching artist, topic and programming.\u00a0 Space is limited, with the next session starting on September 30.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Arts Center, has established a funding opportunity, for financial support for next year&#8217;s Downtown Arts Market, at Hansen Arts Park.\u00a0 The appeal will be extended to businesses.
