{"id":181042,"date":"2019-09-26T17:08:15","date_gmt":"2019-09-26T22:08:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=181042"},"modified":"2019-09-27T09:50:59","modified_gmt":"2019-09-27T14:50:59","slug":"committee-gets-update-on-fire-truck-police-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=181042","title":{"rendered":"Committee gets update on fire truck, police security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-19307\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/City-Hall-3-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/City-Hall-3-300x202.jpg 300w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/City-Hall-3-259x175.jpg 259w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/City-Hall-3.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown City Council\u2019s Police &amp; Fire Committee, and Public Works Committee met Thursday evening at City Hall.<\/p>\n<p>All Members were present.<\/p>\n<p><strong>POLICE &amp; FIRE COMMITTEE <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>INFORMATIONAL: <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=181035\">Fire department vehicle update<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>City Fire Chief Jim Reuther explained, that over the last several months the Aerial Ladder truck\u2019s recent extensive repairs have failed.\u00a0 The company said the damage will exceed the value of the vehicle.\u00a0 The company has been instructed to cease repairs, and await further instructions. \u00a0\u00a0The timeline on the status has been issued.<\/p>\n<p>He said two grant requests written to the Assistance to Fire Fighters, was denied, as older trucks are getting the grant dollars.<\/p>\n<p>He added a new truck\u2019s cost is $1-million.\u00a0 Lower quotes for platform vehicles were less.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Heinrich said the city needs to contact the State of North Dakota which owns the vehicle and determine further action that needs to be taken.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">Police Chief Scott Edinger said, due to a shortage of officers, the police department is not able to provide security.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">On duty officers will walk-through the event, based on the calls coming in at that time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Considered was \u00a0the AE2S Stormwater Utility Amendment No. 2, in the amount of $28,000, to the contract dated July 29, 2016.\u00a0 <span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">Mayor Heinrich said the city was not approached as to the work performed, ahead of time, and then charged. Council Member Buchanan said a flat fee contract was originally issued, and an initial amendment was approved.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>City Administrator, Sarah Hellekson said AE2S was working with the city\u2019s software system.\u00a0 Mayor Heinrich said he won\u2019t vote in favor the amended increase.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"margin-bottom: 27.15pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">The committee, recommends, tabling to the October committee meeting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Considered was the proposal for full electrical engineering services to install an engine-generator and service rated automatic transfer switch at the Main Sanitary Lift Station under the NDDES grant project, the cost for electrical engineering services to be funded through the Sewer Fund. The low bid received was $14,500. The city\u2019s sewer fund will pay the city\u2019s share of the cost at $63,000, with federal funds picking up a share of the cost. The committee recommends \u00a0accepting the proposal.<\/p>\n<p>An update was given on Sewer Lift Station 20, and Master Lift Station Improvements by Darrell Hournbuckle of Interstate Engineering indicated deteriorations of pumps and pipeings at the wet wells.\u00a0 He listed alternatives to the improvements.\u00a0 <span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">He recommended an option with a more reliable solution at a slightly higher cost.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Public input meetings including one at Thursday&#8217;s meeting will be considered for the City Council&#8217;s determination.\u00a0Funding options were also pointed out.\u00a0 No action was taken.<\/p>\n<p>A Resolution of Governing Body of Applicant for Lift Station Improvement Project (Lift Station 20 and Master Lift Station), was approved, to reauthorize and complete paperwork.<\/p>\n<p>A Resolution of Governing Body of Applicant for Lift Station Improvement Project (Lift Station 20 and Master Lift Station), was \u00a0approved, to reauthorize and complete paperwork.<\/p>\n<p>Considered \u00a0was entering into an Engineering Agreement with Interstate Engineering, Inc., for the water line to ND State Hospital.
