\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – An employee of a Fargo organization that handles fundraising for nonprofits is accused of stealing more than $140,000 of Giving Point’s money.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Forty-seven-year-old Sheila Horner is accused of writing checks to herself and her son from the Giving Point bank account, and of using company credit card accounts.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Forum newspaper reports that Horner is charged with felony forgery and theft. Court documents do not list an attorney for her, and a telephone listing for her has been disconnected.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – Officials on Thursday are expected to announce plans for construction of a $1.5 billion fertilizer plant near Grand Forks.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota Corn Growers Association director Tom Lilja\u00a0says \u00a0the plant will be built near Grand Forks and use natural gas from western North Dakota oil wells to produce fertilizer.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An announcement is scheduled for Thursday in Grand Forks.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Enbridge Inc. has resumed shipping crude oil through a pipeline between western North Dakota and northern Minnesota after two shutdowns within a week due to leaks.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Spokeswoman Katie Haarsager (HAHR’-saw-gur) says about 10 gallons leaked between Knox and York in Benson County, and about 84 gallons leaked just southwest of Grand Forks.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Haarsager says the leaks were contained to the pipeline area and have been cleaned up. She says no environmental damage has been found.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The leaks were discovered through regular monitoring of the pipeline that runs between Minot and Clearbrook, Minn. The line has the capacity to ship 210,000 barrels of oil from western North Dakota per day to out-of-state refineries.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Haarsager says the brief shutdown of the line shouldn’t disrupt supplies enough to affect gasoline prices.<\/p>\n

ADAMS, N.D. (AP) – Walsh County is asking the North Dakota attorney general’s office to investigate allegations that the Adams School District has spent money illegally prior to a pending school reorganization.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Adams and Park River school districts are combining to form a new district. Walsh County State’s Attorney Barbara Whelan says in a letter to Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem (STEHN’-juhm) that some unhappy Adams School Board members apparently are trying to deplete the cash reserves and physical assets of the Adams district.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Whelan says it appears the plan is to ensure the Adams district contributes nothing to the new district.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Adams Superintendent Frank Schill declined comment because he said he had not seen documents related to the case.<\/p>\n

NEW ROCKFORD, N.D. (AP) – The Environmental Protection Agency has awarded a total of $600,000 to two North Dakota communities as part of a nationwide program to assess, cleanup and redevelop contaminated properties.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The city of New Rockford will receive a $200,000 EPA brownfields site grant to clean up the New Rockford City Hospital site contaminated with inorganic contaminants.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The city of Minot is receiving $400,000 in assessment grants to focus on the downtown redevelopment area affected by flooding in 2011 and other flooded locations adjacent to the Souris River. One $200,000 grant will allow for an assessment for hazardous substances and another $200,000 grant will look at petroleum.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The grants are part of $62.5 million awarded nationwide to 240 recipients.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP May 8, 2013) \u00a0– North Dakota State University assistant men’s basketball coach Jason Kemp has resigned to accept a similar position at the University of Toledo.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Kemp had been a part of the Bison staff for eight years, starting as a graduate assistant in 2005 and serving six seasons as an assistant.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NDSU head coach Saul Phillips says Kemp’s contributions have been “immeasurable.” Kemp says he will treasure forever his time at NDSU.<\/p>\n

PHOENIX (AP) – Jurors in Arizona have reached a verdict in the trial of Jodi Arias, who is accused of murdering her one-time boyfriend. It will be announced\u00a0Wednesday afternoon. Arias is charged with first-degree murder in the June 2008 killing of Travis Alexander in his suburban Phoenix home. Authorities say she planned the attack in a jealous rage. Arias initially denied involvement, then blamed it on two masked intruders. Two years after her arrest, she said it was self-defense. The trial has featured testimony about a salacious relationship that ended in a bloody killing. Arias spent 18 days on the witness stand.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CLEVELAND (AP) – A second woman rescued after being held captive for a decade in Ohio is now home with her family. Gina DeJesus (deh-HAY’-soos), who disappeared in 2004, arrived home Wednesday as a crowd chanted her name. Earlier today, Amanda Berry arrived at her sister’s home. Berry’s sister made a brief statement thanking the public for their support but asking for privacy. Charges against the man who owns the home where three women were found and his two brothers are expected to come later Wednesday.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) – Steven Hicks says his “jaw dropped” when he heard how U.N. ambassador Susan Rice was describing the deadly assault on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, in the days after that attack. Hicks was the deputy chief of mission in Libya — and he told a House panel today about the attack on the consulate that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others. Rice went on Sunday talk shows five days after the attack, and said it appeared to be connected with demonstrations over an anti-Islam video. Republicans continue to charge that the statements were part of a cover-up.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BEIRUT (AP) – Internet service has been restored in Syria, after a nationwide outage cut off the country from the rest of the world for nearly 20 hours. State media say the problem was with a fiber optics cable. It was similar to a two-day outage in November. There had been speculation that the regime pulled the plug, possibly as a cover for military actions. But no large-scale offensives were reported today.
