CSi Weather…<\/p>\nValley City (Barnes Emergency Management)\u00a0 \u00a0Barnes County Emergency Manager Sue Lloyd, reports that damage assessments for Barnes County\u00a0 and township roads along with county infrastructure was completed on November 8th.<\/p>\n
All 42 townships as well as the incorporated cities throughout Barnes County were urged to inspect their respective townships and cities and submit any preliminary damage amounts which occurred as a result of the October 9th -12th snow event and subsequent flooding from this event.<\/p>\n
Of the 42 townships in the county, 12 Townships submitted for a total of $195,561.65 only the city of Valley City submitted expenses as well as Barnes Rural Water. The city of Valley City submitted expenses of $487,801.62 and Barnes Rural Water submitted damages of $497,700.00.<\/p>\n
Lloyd said, \u201cThe damages submitted throughout the county was not surprising, financial assistance is not a guarantee to be covered, it all depends on if a Presidential Disaster Declaration is issued.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Valley City\u00a0 (VCPS)\u00a0 \u00a0The Valley City Public School Board has unanimously approved the COPS School Safety Grant, amounting to over $200,000.<\/p>\n
The COPS Office School Violence Prevention Program includes funding to improve security at school across the nation.<\/p>\n
Valley City is one of 103 school districts\u00a0 nationwide to receive the COPS School Safety Grant.<\/p>\n
The budget costs amount to $286,107, with the Federal Share at $214,580, the applicant share is $71,527.<\/p>\n
The costs incurred are for Non-Sworn Personnel,\u00a0 Equipment and Technology, Supplies, Travel and Training, and other miscellaneous items.<\/p>\n

It also produces about 200,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2).<\/p>\n The company is investigating the potential to capture the CO2 from the plant and safely sequester it from the atmosphere. Geologic Storage is the process of injecting CO2 captured from an industrial or energy-related source into deep subsurface rock formations for long-term storage.<\/p>\n This is part of a process frequently referred to as \u201ccarbon capture and storage\u201d or CCS. Preventing CO2 from entering the atmosphere will decrease the carbon intensity of ethanol fuel produced at the facility. The project could also create federal income tax credits for investors.<\/p>\n Easton has a strong personal connection to Dickinson State University. Easton, who graduated summa cum laude from DSU in 1980 with a bachelor\u2019s degree in Business Administration and Accounting, and a minor in political science, was the third generation of his family to choose Dickinson State. The Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, which Senator Cramer sits on, advanced this legislation at the end of September. (Valley News Live<\/a>)<\/span> An officer is injured and a suspect is in custody after shooting at police in downtown Fargo.<\/p>\n Fargo Police were called to the area by the Radisson Hotel and the old Police Station around 5th St. N. and 2nd Ave. N. for reports of a man with a gun around 4 Friday morning.<\/p>\n When officers arrived, the suspect, 54-year-old Henry Aiken, fired his gun toward them and then also shot into the Radisson lobby. Police say Aiken had a revolver with a laser attached.<\/p>\n Aiken then went into the hotel lobby where he was quickly arrested at gunpoint.<\/p>\n During that time, Officer Matt Ysteboe with Fargo Police was readying his patrol rifle and accidentally fired it, injuring his hand.<\/p>\n Police set up a perimeter blocking much of downtown for a couple of hours while they investigated.<\/p>\n Aiken faces a charge of aggravated reckless endangerment.<\/p>\n Officer Matt Ysteboe was taken to the hospital but is expected to be ok.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Police and sheriff\u2019s deputies have responded to gunfire in downtown Fargo.<\/p>\n KFGO<\/a> reports a two-block radius around the Radisson Hotel is blocked off early Friday morning. A witness saw police bring one man out of the hotel in handcuffs and place him in a squad car.<\/p>\n Police say that there is “no active threat to the community.\u201d No other details were immediately available.<\/p>\n Valley News Live reports….<\/p>\n Fargo Police said they’re hosting a press conference at 9 a.m. at their 25th Street North location regarding the call for shots fired in the downtown Fargo area.<\/p>\n Police say they do hope that by 7 a.m. the perimeter set up around 5th Street North and 2nd and 3rd Avenue will be open. (AP) \u2014 Police have arrested a suspect in the killing of a Fargo man in a downtown apartment building.<\/p>\n KFGO radio reports that 43-year old Darrell Clinton Peterson is being held in the Cass County Jail on a felony murder charge in the death of 64-year-old Duane Darling, of Fargo.<\/p>\n Police say officers were called to the Pioneer Manor apartments shortly before 7 a.m. Wednesday and discovered Darling bleeding from the head. He died later at a local hospital.<\/p>\n Authorities say a tip led officers to another apartment where Peterson was eventually taken into custody. Police say he was arrested after they reviewed evidence and Peterson\u2019s statements during questioning.<\/p>\n BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota\u2019s new Ethics Commission has rejected its second complaint.<\/p>\n The five-member board voted unanimously Thursday to \u201cdisregard\u201d the complaint, citing a lack of jurisdiction.<\/p>\n Last month the board declined to accept its first complaint, also citing jurisdiction. Chairman Ron Goodman has declined to provide the complaints to The Bismarck Tribune. Complaints are confidential by state law unless the accused consents to disclosure.<\/p>\n The panel oversees the conduct of legislators, state officials, political candidates and lobbyists. Voters approved establishing the commission last year after the Republican-led Legislature rebuffed repeated attempts for such a panel in the past.<\/p>\n The commission still lacks office space, staff and a website.<\/p>\n BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 State officials have given an estimate on how much oil was spilled from a pipeline leak in Williams County last month.<\/p>\n The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality says an estimated 12,432 gallons of oil leaked from a pipeline operated by Hiland Crude about a mile northeast of McGregor on Oct. 17. The department says the oil leaked onto cropland.<\/p>\n Department staff have inspected the site and say they will continue to monitor remediation.<\/p>\n Bismarck (NDNG) \u2013 Members of the North Dakota National Guard and the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services will conduct a blizzard response exercise at Fraine Barracks in Bismarck this weekend. The agencies regularly participate in emergency response exercise scenarios to validate and refine statewide plans and capabilities. Both agencies are administered by the N.D. Office of the Adjutant General.<\/p>\n About 45 Soldiers and Airmen from the Guard\u2019s Domestic Operations Section will work from the organization\u2019s Joint Operations Center (JOC) exercising command and control for military response resources during the hypothetical blizzard response. Cramer\u2019s Office) \u00a0 \u2013 The U.S. Senate through a Unanimous Consent (UC) request by U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) Thursday passed S.2099, the \u201cWhite Horse Hill National Game Preserve Designation Act,\u201d a bill\u00a0Senator Cramer introduced<\/a>\u00a0to rename\u00a0the National Game Preserve within the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation known as \u201cSullys\u00a0Hill\u201d to \u201cWhite Horse\u00a0Hill,\u201d its traditional Dakota name.
