OMAHA, Neb. \u2013The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is incrementally increasing releases from Jamestown and Pipestem Dams for the next several days as the cities of Jamestown and LaMoure, North Dakota, prepare for higher flows.\u00a0 Combined releases will reach 2,200 cubic feet per second by Friday, Nov. 22.<\/p>\n

Higher releases will allow the dams to evacuate as much flood storage as possible before ice formation and prior to spring runoff.\u00a0 Combined releases are currently planned to be reduced back to 1,400 cfs by Sunday, Dec. 1, but could be held if weather allows.\u00a0 The tables below detail the release schedule with the current plan for operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

To mitigate the risk of freeze-up ice jams or other ice-related flooding, releases from the dams will be reduced to winter releases before ice sets in, which are not expected to exceed 700 cfs.\u00a0 The Corps of Engineers will operate to minimize the risk of ice-related flooding, and adjustments to the releases will be made as needed.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday afternoon, Jamestown Dam was at a pool elevation of 1442.0 ft, 31% into the flood pool, and is steady.\u00a0 The pool elevation peaked on November 12 and has been holding steady since then.\u00a0 Inflows are near 675 cfs, and releases are 900 cfs.<\/p>\n

Pipestem Dam was at a pool elevation of 1467.6 ft, 29% into the flood pool, and dropping.\u00a0 The pool elevation peaked on October 29 at 1475.0 ft, which was 43% into the flood pool.\u00a0 Inflows are near 350 cfs, and releases are 900 cfs.<\/p>\n

The Corps of Engineers is coordinating with relevant agencies in North and South Dakota.<\/p>\n

Fritz said \u201cSoup Turkey,\u201d has two parts.\u00a0 It first serves as a shelf-sitting decoration and then can be later enjoyed as a warm meal.\u00a0 The Kid\u2019s Kingdom students delivered those to residents of the James House in Jamestown, on Wednesday, and while there they will sing songs and chat as a group, in the public gathering space.<\/p>\n

Luke LeFevre said the \u201cSocktober Sock Drive,\u201d is being held, along with an upcoming food drive.<\/p>\n

He said, 654 socks have been collected so far, and the socks will be delivered in April to a homeless shelter, in Minneapolis as part of a mission trip by the St. John\u2019s Academy sixth graders.<\/p>\n

A three week food drive will be held at the school, between Thanksgiving\u00a0 and Christmas, with the items to be given to local food shelters.<\/p>\n

\"\"BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Court documents unsealed in the disappearance of an American Indian woman whose body was found in a submerged truck in a North Dakota lake show she was strapped into the passenger side with a seat belt around her waist.<\/p>\n

Thirty-two-year-old Olivia Lone Bear was reported missing to the Three Affiliated Tribes Police Department on Oct. 27, 2017. Her body was found July 31, 2018. An autopsy was conducted in August 2018, and the cause of death was ruled undetermined.<\/p>\n

Three search warrants were unsealed Wednesday after federal officials traveled to New Town, North Dakota, to update Lone Bear\u2019s family members on the death investigation. One witness says Lone Bear texted her that night saying she had been at a bonfire and was going \u201cmudding,\u201d or four-wheeling.<\/p>\n

The FBI also announced a reward of up to $10,000 for information in her disappearance.<\/p>\n

\"\"Valley City\u00a0\u00a0 (VCSU<\/a>)\u00a0 Valley City State University athletic director Jill DeVries announced today that Adam Longmore has resigned his position as head volleyball coach, effective at the end of the fall semester.<\/p>\n

Longmore coached the Vikings for the last six seasons, guiding the program to a 74-105 overall record. Under Longmore, the Vikings had winning records in both 2017 (15-13) and 2018 (18-12) \u2013 the program\u2019s first winning seasons since 2006. VCSU advanced to the NSAA Tournament semifinals three times during Longmore\u2019s career.<\/p>\n

Longmore says, \u201cThese past six years have been a wonderful experience not only for me, but for my entire family. \"\"Down by as many as 17 points in the second half, the 16th-ranked University of Jamestown men’s basketball team rallied to tie the game against No. 7 Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) University, but the Tigers pulled away for a 75-65 win Wednesday night at Harold Newman Arena.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (7-2 overall, 1-1 Great Plains Athletic Conference) had their seven-game winning streak snapped. The Jimmies will look to get back in the win column Saturday with a 4 p.m. matchup at Northwestern (Iowa) College.<\/p>\n

Dakota Wesleyan led 39-25 at the half despite shooting 13-of-33 from the floor. However, eight of their 13 makes were from three-point range. UJ struggled to find any consistent offensive rhythm in the opening 20 minutes, converting on just 11-of-38 shots and 1-of-11 beyond the arc. DWU also outrebounded the Jimmies 30-19 in the half.<\/p>\n

Ty Hoglund gave the Tigers their second 17-point lead of the game after a bucket at the 19:02 mark of the second half. Down 44-27, Jamestown outscored DWU 28-11 over the next 9:29 to even the score at 55-all following a Jack Frazier<\/a> (SR\/Salem, OR) basket.<\/p>\n

Jamestown would get within one point at 60-59 on a Brady Birch<\/a> (JR\/Melrose, MN) basket with 8:03 remaining, but three-pointers by Collin Kramer, Samuel McCloud, and Hoglund countered a bucket by Jack Talley<\/a> (JR\/Sioux Falls, SD) and a pair of free throws by Brock Schrom<\/a> (JR\/Grand Rapids, MN) to maintain a six-point advantage. UJ made just one of its final five shots, with three of the missing coming on three-point attempts. The Jimmies made only one of 16 three-point tries.<\/p>\n

Hoglund led all scorers with 22 points. DWU was 15-of-32 on three-pointers, 24-of-60 shooting overall. Nick Harden had four threes as part of his 14 points.<\/p>\n

Talley paced the Jimmie offense with 20 points and grabbed six rebounds to go along with three assists. Mason Walters<\/a> (FR\/Jamestown, ND) had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds while Schrom chipped in with 10 points.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Bismarck Parks and Recreation District staff talked about the proposed facility at a meeting Wednesday night. They say the center would have a main building with a separate ice arena. The concept includes a four-lane running and walking track and an indoor cross-country track with elevation and obstacles.<\/p>\n

Recreation staff also recommend six indoor tennis courts, adjacent to five indoor pickleball courts. Other amenities would include two indoor basketball courts, four racquetball courts and an indoor playground.<\/p>\n

The Bismarck Tribune<\/a> says the Capital Ice Complex would be larger than 25 acres. Planner says if the project is approved next June, the center could open in 2023.<\/p>\n

Grace Benz<\/a> (SO\/Steele, ND) scored 13 points and was one of three players off the bench in double figures, helping the University of Jamestown women’s basketball team to a 71-69 upset of No. 7 Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) University Wednesday night at Harold Newman Arena.<\/p>\n

The win snapped a five-game losing streak to the Tigers and was UJ’s first win over DWU since November 11, 2011.<\/p>\n

Courtney Mosloski<\/a> (SR\/Fairmont, MN) scored 12 and Emma Stoehr<\/a> (JR\/Woodbury, MN) 10 for Jamestown (6-1, 2-0 Great Plains Athletic Conference) as the Jimmie reserves finished with 46 of the team’s 71 points.<\/p>\n

The Tigers (4-2, 1-2 GPAC) led 24-14 after one quarter on the strength of 11-of-18 shooting from the floor. UJ was just 5-of-15 and 2-of-7 from three-point range in the first 10 minutes.<\/p>\n

DWU took a 32-22 lead after a pair of Sarah Carr free throws with 5:08 before halftime, but the Jimmies closed the half on a 14-2 run to take a 36-34 advantage into the break.<\/p>\n

Jamestown took their biggest lead of the game after a Noelle Josephson<\/a> (SO\/Ramsey, MN) bucket made it 43-36 with 8:15 in the third. The Tigers responded with a run of their own, scoring the next eight points to retake a 44-43 lead.<\/p>\n

The first half of the fourth quarter belonged to UJ, who outscored DWU 13-0 to take a 10-point lead with 6:23 in the game. A 10-0 Tiger run, capped off by a Makaela Karst three-pointer, tied the game at 66-66 with 3:16 remaining.<\/p>\n

Mosloski scored the go-ahead basket with 1:37 as UJ led 70-68. Kynedi Cheeseman had a chance for a game-tying basket with 0.3 seconds left but was unable to convert and the Jimmies escaped with the victory.<\/p>\n

Cheeseman led all scorers with 31 points, making six of her 10 three-point attempts.<\/p>\n

Paige Schmidt<\/a> (SR\/Tappen, ND) added nine points for Jamestown, who was led in rebounding by Olivia Anderson<\/a> (SR\/Edgeley, ND) with six. Noelle Josephson<\/a> had four assists to go along with three steals.<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 The Jazz pulled out a 103-95 win at Minnesota as Bojan (BOY\u2019-ahn) Bogdanovic contributed 30 points and Donovan Mitchell added 26. Bogdanovic was 6 of 11 from 3-point range, and Mitchell 5 of 10 to help Utah rebound for a home loss to Minnesota Monday night. Minnesota led by six in the fourth quarter before Utah used a 12-0 run to take the lead for good.<\/p>\n

Luka Doncic (DAHN\u2019-chihch) scored 33 of his 35 points in the first half of the Mavericks\u2019 142-94 laugher against the Warriors. Doncic was 10 of 11 from the field, including 6-for-7 from 3-point range. He also had 10 rebounds and 11 assists in his league-leading seventh-triple double of the season despite playing only 25 minutes.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Lou Williams scored 27 points and Kawhi (kah-WY\u2019) Leonard combined with Paul George for 42 points in their first game together as the Clippers rallied to knock off the Celtics, 107-104 in overtime. George provided 25 points and Leonard added 17 before blocking Kemba Walker\u2019s potential tying 3-point attempt. Los Angeles improved to 9-1 at home by rallying from a 10-point, fourth-quarter deficit.<\/p>\n

The Denver Nuggets put together a strong defensive performance to end the Houston Rockets\u2019 eight-game winning streak.<\/p>\n

The Rockets scored fewer than 100 points for the first time all season as the Nuggets limited James Harden to 16 shots in a 105-95 victory. Harden finished with 27 points, snapping his string of eight consecutive games of 36 or more.<\/p>\n

The Rockets guard entered the night leading the NBA in scoring at 39.2 points a game, and Houston was pacing the league at 119.5 points per contest.<\/p>\n

Nikola Jokic (nee-KOH\u2019-lah YOH\u2019-kihch) had 27 points and 12 rebounds for the 11-4 Nuggets, who are 7-0 when holding opponents under 100 points. Will Barton had 15 points and seven boards for Denver.<\/p>\n

Checking out Wednesday\u2019s other NBA action:<\/p>\n

\u2014 Giannis Antetokounmpo (YAH\u2019-nihs an-teh-toh-KOON\u2019-poh) poured in 33 points and Eric Bledsoe added 28 in the Bucks\u2019 fifth straight win, 135-127 against the Hawks. It marked the league-best ninth time this season that Antetokounmpo, the reigning NBA MVP, has had at least 30 points and 10 rebounds. Rookie De\u2019Andre Hunter finished with a career-high 27 points and Trae Young scored 25 in Atlanta\u2019s fourth straight loss.<\/p>\n

\u2014 The Heat top the Southeast Division at 10-3 after Duncan Robinson set a pair of Miami 3-point records to lead a 124-100 rout of the Cavaliers. Robinson was 9 for 15 from the field, with all those shots coming from behind the arc. The second-year pro set team marks with seven 3-pointers in the second quarter and eight in the first half before finishing with 29 points.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Fred VanVleet provided 24 points and Pascal Siakam (see-A\u2019-kam) added 18 with 11 rebounds as the Raptors ended the Magic\u2019s three-game winning streak, 113-97. Raptors rookie Terence Davis scored a career-high 19 points to help Toronto improve to 6-0 at home. Orlando lost center Nikola Vucevic and forward Aaron Gordon to right ankle injuries in the second quarter.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Ben Simmons hit the first 3-pointer of his career and finished with 18 points and 13 assists to lead the 76ers to a 109-104 victory over the Knicks. Mike Scott’s fourth 3-pointer of the game with 1:29 left stretched the Sixers\u2019 lead to 99-95. Joel Embiid (joh-EHL\u2019 ehm-BEED\u2019) had 23 points and 13 rebounds, and Scott scored 12 points.<\/p>\n

\u2014 The Nets downed the Hornets, 101-91 behind Jarrett Allen\u2019s 22 points and 17 rebounds. Taurean Prince and Spencer Dinwiddie added 20 points apiece for Brooklyn, which was without Kyrie Irving for the third straight game because of a right shoulder injury. Terry Rozier had 18 points and Devonte\u2019 Graham added 17 in Charlotte\u2019s second consecutive loss.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Detroit suffered its fifth straight loss as Lauri Markkanen scored 24 points to bust out of a slump and lead the Bulls to a 109-89 romp over the Pistons. It was Markkanen\u2019s first 20-point game since scoring 35 points on opening night. Wendell Carter Jr. had 12 points and 15 rebounds as Chicago ended a three-game skid.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Bradley Beal shot 9 for 9 while scoring 21 of his 33 points in the third quarter of the Wizards\u2019 138-132 shootout over the slumping Spurs. Ish Smith and former Spur Davis Bertans each had 21 points for Washington, which had the worst record in the East at 3-8. DeMar DeRozan scored 31 for the Spurs, but he missed two free throws with 9.9 seconds left as the Spurs dropped their seventh straight for the first time in 23 seasons.<\/p>\n

Bulls\u2019 Porter stays sidelined<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 The Chicago Bulls say forward Otto Porter Jr. has a bone bruise in his left foot and will be reassessed in two weeks. Porter is averaging 11.2 points in nine games but hasn\u2019t played since injuring the foot against the Hawks in Atlanta on Nov. 6.<\/p>\n

NCAA clears Memphis freshman Wiseman to return on Jan. 12<\/p>\n

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) \u2014 The NCAA has cleared Memphis freshman basketball player James Wiseman to return to the basketball court on Jan. 12, but he\u2019ll have to donate $11,500 to the charity of his choice to regain his eligibility.<\/p>\n

The NCAA had ruled Wiseman was \u201clikely ineligible\u201d due to $11,500 coach Penny Hardaway gave the center\u2019s family for moving expenses from Nashville to Memphis in the summer of 2017.<\/p>\n

He played in the Tigers\u2019 first three games and will now sit out 12 under the NCAA decision.<\/p>\n

NFL hears Garrett\u2019s appeal, upholds Ogunjobi suspension<\/p>\n

CLEVELAND (AP) \u2014 Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett asked an appeals officer today to reduce his indefinite NFL suspension.<\/p>\n

Garrett was banned for the rest of the regular season and playoffs for striking Pittsburgh quarterback Mason Rudolph with a helmet last week.<\/p>\n

Rudolph avoided injury and was not suspended despite trying to pull off Garrett\u2019s helmet and charging at him.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Browns starting defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi will have to sit out Sunday\u2019s game against Miami after losing the appeal of his one-game suspension. Ogunjobi had his $10,527 fine rescinded by former NFL player James Thrash, who also heard Garrett\u2019s appeal of his 10-game suspension. Ogunjobi shoved Pittsburgh quarterback Mason Rudolph seconds after Garrett swung a helmet and struck the Steelers QB in the head.<\/p>\n

Leafs fire Babcock<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 The Toronto Maple Leafs have fired head coach Mike Babcock and replaced him with Sheldon Keefe.<\/p>\n

The move comes after the Maple Leafs absorbed their sixth consecutive loss to fall to 9-10-4 this season. They were 173-133-45 in 351 regular-season games under Babcock, but they never won a playoff series.<\/p>\n

The 39-year-old Keefe has a long history with Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas (DOO\u2019-buhs) and was in his fifth season as coach of the AHL’s Toronto Marlies.<\/p>\n

The winningest driver of his era will have a 19th season in the No. 48 Chevrolet and once again chase a record eighth championship. Johnson has 83 career victories, tied with Cale Yarborough for sixth all-time. His seven titles are tied with Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt for most in the Cup Series.<\/p>\n

The 44-year-old Johnson has been in a two-year slump and last won a race in 2017, one year after his seventh Cup title.<\/p>\n

Parra has agreed to a contract with the Yomiuri Giants of the Japanese Central League. Parra was a clubhouse catalyst for the World Series champion Washington Nationals, hitting .250 with eight home runs and 42 RBIs in 89 games after spending the first 30 games of the season with the Giants. David Holmes, a political counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, says he was having lunch with Ambassador Gordon Sondland this summer when he heard Trump on the phone asking the envoy about the investigations he wanted from the Ukranian president. The colorful exchange was like nothing he had ever seen, Holmes said in an earlier closed-door deposition.<\/p>\n

Fiona Hill says her National Security Council boss, John Bolton, cut short a meeting with visiting Ukrainians at the White House when Sondland started asking them about \u201cinvestigations.\u201d<\/p>\n

HONG KONG (AP) \u2014 A small but determined group of protesters is remaining inside a Hong Kong university campus, resisting pleas to turn themselves in to police.<\/p>\n

At least a few dozen were believed to still be at Hong Kong Polytechnic University on Thursday morning. The exact number is unclear because they have broken up into small groups in different parts of the campus.<\/p>\n

They are the holdouts from a much larger group that occupied the campus for several days and battled police last weekend.<\/p>\n

Hong Kong\u2019s anti-government protests are in their sixth month. Protesters believe China is increasing control over the semiautonomous city. They are demanding fully democratic elections and an investigation into allegations of police brutality in suppressing their demonstrations.<\/p>\n

LONDON (AP) \u2014 A lawyer for victims of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein says Britain\u2019s Prince Andrew should speak to U.S. investigators immediately about what he knew of the convicted pedophile.<\/p>\n

U.S. attorney Gloria Allred said Andrew should contact American authorities \u201cwithout conditions and without delay.”<\/p>\n

Andrew announced Wednesday he was pulling out of public duties \u201cfor the foreseeable future\u201d amid a firestorm of criticism over his friendship with Epstein.<\/p>\n

Businesses that backed Andrew\u2019s charity work began distancing themselves from him after he gave an ill-judged interview with the BBC last week justifying his long friendship with Epstein, who died in August while in jail on sex-trafficking charges. His death was ruled a suicide by a medical examiner.<\/p>\n

In the interview, the prince failed to express any sympathy for Epstein\u2019s victims.<\/p>\n
