News)\u00a0 Thunderstorms that crossed southern North Dakota early Tuesday (May 15, 2013) \u00a0packed strong winds that knocked out electricity to half of Valley City for a time and blew over vehicles. No one was hurt.<\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service estimated wind gusts of 60 to 70 miles per hour near Valley City downing some trees in the city.<\/p>\n<p>Six vehicles were blown off I-94 between Tower City and Sanborn.<\/p>\n<p>The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports two separate incidents occurred, on Tuesday morning, (May 14, 2013), as a result of high winds.<\/p>\n<p>First, at about 5:45 a.m., a 35,000lb. semi pulling an empty cattle trailer travelling westbound on I-94 at mm 280, opetated by 45 year old Walt Lashley of Billings, Montana, drove into what he described as \u201cpitch black\u201d conditions before the north winds pushed his semi and trailer towards the median before it tipped onto the driver\u2019s side and came to rest in the median. Westbound I-94 was shutdown for approximately 10 minutes while wreckers pulled the vehicle upright.<\/p>\n<p>The second incident involved two westbound pickups pulling bumper-hitch campers who pulled onto the shoulder and stopped due to weather conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The report says the vehicles were operated by John and Carl Roll of Perry and Morrice, Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>As both vehicles sat stopped on the shoulder, the high winds tipped both campers over causing them to become detached from the hitch of the pickups. The two campers were partially blocking I-94, mm 298 (east of Valley City) however traffic was able to maneuver around the blockage.<\/p>\n<p>No injuries were sustained during either of these two events.<\/p>\n<p>Assisting the Highway Patrol were Gille\u2019s Towing, Main Street Towing, and Interstate Towing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Valley City, ND\u00a0 (KCSi-TV.
