(AP) &#8211; Forecasters say portions of the central United States could see severe weather this weekend and Monday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Storm Prediction Center at Norman, Oklahoma said Wednesday a bout of &#8220;fairly substantial&#8221; bad weather is possible in Kansas, Nebraska and the Dakotas on Saturday, from Oklahoma to Iowa on Sunday and from Oklahoma to Illinois on Monday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Storms could become steadily worse through the period &#8211; starting with hail and high winds Saturday and evolving into a system with tornadoes possible by Monday in Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The bad weather could extend into Tuesday but forecasters said a longer term storm prediction was not possible yet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News May 15, 2013) &#8212; Dawn Riley will be stepping down as the Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President, and will be succeeded by Kay Vinje.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Vinje has been the Chamber\u2019s Office Administrator.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Riley will continue to serve as the manager of the North Dakota Winter Show, as she held both positions for the past several months.<\/p>\n<p>She served as Valley City Area Chamber Executive Vice President for one year, and has served as the Winter Show Manager the past few years<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News May 15, 2013) &#8212; The Jamestown Public School Foundation, in conjunction with the local United Way and the Jamestown Optimist Club,\u3000 &#8220;rolled out&#8221; of the Imagination Library program which is set to begin in Jamestown.\u3000<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday morning, North Dakota\u2019s \u3000 First Lady Betsy Dalrymple was the featured speaker introducing the program and read &#8220;The Little Engine that Could&#8221; to pre-school kids in attendance.\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Dalrymple said, &#8220;Encouraging early childhood literacy is incredibly important to me. The Dolly Parton Imagination Library has brought millions of books directly to pre-school children all across America at no cost to families. It is fulfilling to help connect even more North Dakota communities with the program each year and to see so many children develop a lifelong joy of reading.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Dalrymple began working with Imagination Library in December 2010, encouraging communities across the state to join on. To-date in North Dakota, 9 counties, 11 cities and 17 school districts are participating.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000\u3000\u3000 Imagination Library is sponsored nationally by the Dolly Parton Foundation.\u3000 Its prime function is to get a free book every month to children between the ages of 0 and 5 at no cost to the parents.\u3000 This is an outstanding program meant to improve literacy with our youngest children.\u3000 Our local organizing committee hopes to give a free book to every young child ages 0-5 who attends the roll-out.<\/p>\n<p>Locally, spokesperson Lee added that anyone wishing a brochure containing the signup information can call Jamestown Public Schools at 252-1950. Brochures have also been distributed around town.<\/p>\n<p>She said the cost is $25 per child, with about 2,000 pre-schoolers in Stutsman County.<\/p>\n<p>However, she pointed out that in addition to Jamestown Public Schools Foundation, the Jamestown Optimist Club, the Stutsman County United Way, have contributed dollars to the program, along with a $2,000 donation from a private individual, so there is no cost to the parent signing their child.<\/p>\n<p>There are sponsorship levels available.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">The Imagination Library has grown from just a few dozen books to nearly 40 million books mailed to children in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Currently over 1,600 local communities provide the Imagination Library to almost 700,000 children each month.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News May 15, 2013) &#8212; The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission reports that <span><span>airline travel in North Dakota is up over 10% from last year\u2019s record-breaking numbers. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Williston currently leads the state in growth, boarding two and half times the number of passengers compared to April 2012. Williston, Bismarck, Fargo, and Grand Forks airports all had their highest April boardings on record.<\/p>\n<p>United and Delta Airlines are scheduled to start servicing Dickinson in June. Bismarck, Dickinson, Williston, and Minot are all being serviced by four airlines, and Fargo has five airlines for travelers to choose from. North Dakotans can now fly directly to Minneapolis, Denver, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Orlando, Dallas\/Ft Worth, and Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>Director, Larry Taborsky says, &#8220;The state is making good use of its 89 airports, and now is a perfect time to invest in aviation infrastructure. Our office anticipates the numbers to continue to increase, especially with increased capacity coming this summer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The reports shows that in Jamestown, boardings in April this year were 162 compared to 185 in April of 2012.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News May 15, 2013) \u2014 Officials of the Jamestown\/Stutsman Development Corp. (JSDC) Wednesday, were given a tour of the Great River Energy Spiritwood Station.<\/p>\n<p>The plant is located about one mile south of Spiritwood, on a 100-acre site adjacent to Cargill Malt. The plant itself sits on about 10 acres.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Great River Energy\u2019s Spiritwood Station has the capacity to generate up to 99 megawatts of electricity for the regional energy market.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The combined heat and power plant will also supply steam to the Cargill Malt plant near Spiritwood, key partner within the industrial park near Spiritwood.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Otter Tail Power Company, as the local service provider, will supply electricity to the Cargill Malt plant.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The primary source of water for the Spiritwood Station will be wastewater from the city of Jamestown and Stutsman Rural Water District.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Two back-up natural gas boilers will be available to provide a full supply of process steam if the electric generating system is down for maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>Most conventional coal-based power plants are 30 to 35 percent efficient. Spiritwood Station will be 40 to 66 percent efficient depending on the amount of steam provided\u00a0to the site partners. Plant efficiency with Cargill Malt alone will be increased to 40 percent. The addition of additional partners to use the remaining available steam could help the plant achieve a virtual doubling of efficiency to 66 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Great River Energy is a not-for-profit wholesale electric cooperative, serving 28 distribution cooperatives in Minnesota. It is the second largest power supplier in Minnesota. News) &#8212; While the burn ban remains in effect in Lamoure County, firefighters have still fought three blazes in three days.<\/p>\n<p>A burn ban prohibits the setting of intentional fires.<\/p>\n<p>Late Tuesday afternoon (May 14, 2013) firefighters from Marion, LaMoure, Edgeley, and Fort Ransom were called to an area near Marion.<\/p>\n<p>The causes of the three fires that ranged in damages from about an acre to around 500 acres are still under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The causes of the fires are still under investigation. (AP) &#8211; Authorities in North Dakota say a man suspected of running over a woman and crashing into a house in Binford has been apprehended in Illinois and faces attempted murder charges.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Griggs County Sheriff&#8217;s Office says 36-year-old Tyronza Watkins, of Binford, was stopped Wednesday on an interstate highway near Bloomington, Ill.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 On Monday, the sheriff&#8217;s office received calls that a car had struck a house in Binford and ran over a woman who was trapped underneath.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say 28-year-old Jessica Overby, who lives at the house, was treated at a nearby hospital and released. Forty-one-year-old Dawn Leininger was flown to Sanford Hospital in Fargo. Her condition was not known.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Watkins is being held in the McLean County jail in Illinois pending extradition.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Attorney information for Watkins was unavailable.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities in Williams County are investigating a homicide after finding a dead body east of Williston.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Williams County Sheriff&#8217;s Office says sheriff&#8217;s deputies and officers with the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation were executing a search warrant Tuesday morning at a location about 7 miles east of Williston when they found a man&#8217;s dead body.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The man has not been identified, but the state medical examiner determined he died from a fatal gunshot wound.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The sheriff&#8217;s office says a male person of interest has been arrested on unrelated charges and is being held in jail pending further investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; An apartment fire in downtown Bismarck forced the evacuation of surrounding buildings but no one was injured.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 18-unit building on Third Street caught fire around 10 a.m. Wednesday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fire Chief Joel Boesflug says the blaze likely started in the southeast corner of the building&#8217;s second floor and spread to the roof. Its cause remains under investigation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The circa-1916 building, called the Norma, was damaged.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The American Red Cross was on the scene to provide food and clothing and help residents find a place to spend the night. (AP) &#8211; A collision involving a pickup truck and a train in southeastern North Dakota has killed the driver of the pickup.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0Authorities Wednesday identified the victim as \u00a040-year-old Del Shannon Hiltwein of Fargo.<\/p>\n<p>He was \u00a0found dead at the scene of the crash, which happened shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday northwest of West Fargo.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say it appears that safety crossing arms at the intersection of the tracks and a gravel road were working properly.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MINTO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; High water levels continue to thwart efforts to find the body of a Minto farmer who is believed to have drowned in floodwaters late last month.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fifty-five-year-old Guy Miller was driving a pickup truck that was swept off a gravel road about three miles west of the northeastern North Dakota town on April 29. He was last seen by a friend as he stood on the pickup&#8217;s running board calling for help.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The vehicle remains partially submerged in a coulee that flows into the Forest River.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Walsh County Sheriff Lauren Wild says authorities check daily for signs of Miller, using unmanned aircraft, all-terrain vehicles, dive teams and search dogs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; An abortion rights group says it has filed the first lawsuit challenging one of the laws approved by the North Dakota Legislature that would make that state the most restrictive in the country for getting an abortion.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 New York-based Center for Reproductive Rights filed the lawsuit in state court on behalf of North Dakota&#8217;s lone abortion clinic. The lawsuit challenges a law that requires doctors who perform abortions to obtain hospital-admitting privileges.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Fargo clinic says it&#8217;s an unfair requirement and could make abortion illegal.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Governor Jack Dalrymple (DAHL&#8217;-rimp-ul) signed four bills into law this past session that could spearhead the campaign to overturn the U.S. Supreme Court&#8217;s 1973 Roe v. (AP) &#8211; The former Noodles by Leonardo plant in Cando (KAN&#8217;-doo) will start producing pasta again next week, about six months after shutting its doors. The facility is now owned by Cando Pasta LLC, a partnership of two local businessmen and two other investors. The plant should have as many as 20 employees later this month.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota has a new labor commissioner.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gov.
