Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News May 16, 2013) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Omaha, along with Jamestown City officials are keeping up to date on potential heavy rainfall amounts in the forecast for Jamestown and the James River Valley this coming weekend.<\/p>\n

Pipestem Dam Manager, Bob Martin in Jamestown said earlier Thursday that the National Weather Service will alert the Corps of Engineers and City of Jamestown and Emergency Management officials if any action needs to be taken on dam releases if heavy rainfall amounts may be approaching Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Martin said, in the event of high rainfall amounts any reduction in dam releases would be at Jamestown Resevoir.<\/p>\n

On Thursday afternoon, Martin said, Corps officials in Omaha have decided to decrease the release from Jamestown Dam on Friday morning at 10-O\u2019Clock from 950 cfs to 800 cfs, and keep the Pipestem Dam release at 100 cfs, for a combined total of 900 cfs.<\/p>\n

The Corps plans to hold that Jamestown Dam release through this coming weekend.<\/p>\n

He says, Corps officials in Omaha will make any additional decisions pending heavy rainfall amounts.<\/p>\n

Rainfall in the amount of an inch over a 24 hour period, or more, would likely put a cut in releases into action.<\/p>\n

He says a gate reduction change at Jamestown Dam reaches the James River in Jamestown in about a half hour, and quicker response time than a reduction at Pipestem Dam.<\/p>\n

There is chance for an increase in Jamestown Dam releases Monday, following the weekend weather patterns.<\/p>\n

The distribution started Thursday May 16, 2013 and continues on Friday and Saturday.<\/p>\n

Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — Meeting in Special Session Thursday (May 16, 2013) the Barnes County Commission approved plans to remodel space in the Barnes County Courthouse for the 9-1-1 Dispatch Center.<\/p>\n

The County Commission voted three to one vote to approve appropriating just over $20,000 to include an office for the 9-1-1 coordinator, plus the installation of a restroom along with air conditioning and heating.<\/p>\n

Barnes County Commission President Eldred Knutson says the dispatch center is planned to be operational in the basement of the courthouse by August of 2013.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota health officials say a total of 26 cases of active tuberculosis have been linked to an outbreak that originated in the Grand Forks area.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials say that the total includes two TB cases in 2010, 20 cases in 2012, and 4 cases so far in 2013.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Twenty-three of those cases have been in Grand Forks County. Three other cases in Cass and Stutsman counties have been linked back to the Grand Forks outbreak.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 TB is a contagious disease that typically attacks the lungs, though it also can affect the kidneys, spine and brain. General symptoms include fatigue, weight loss, fever and night sweats.

\u00a0MAYWOOD, Ill. (AP) – A North Dakota State University student has been killed in suburban Chicago after returning home while on break. Deshawn McCarty was shot and killed while sitting in the back seat of a car on Wednesday night, and he died at a local hospital yesterday. McCarty was attending NDSU on scholarship.<\/p>\n

WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) – Police in Wahpeton are investigating the armed robbery of a convenience store.<\/p>\n

Two masked men with handguns entered a Tesoro station just after 2 a.m. Friday and forced the clerk to open two cash registers.<\/p>\n

The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The clerk was shaken up but not hurt.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – Bond has been set at $1 million for a man accused of killing a Williston hobby rancher.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Thirty-three-year-old Ryan Stensaker, of Williston, is accused in the shooting death of 58-year-old Jack Sjol (shohl), who had been missing three weeks before his body was discovered Tuesday in a private dump ground near from his ranch.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities haven’t discussed a possible motive for the killing.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents don’t list an attorney for Stensaker, who has a history of drug-related convictions. He’s due back in court June 18 and might enter a plea at that time. He also faces drug and weapon charges.

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A judge says a Fargo construction company owner must serve prison time for employing and housing illegal workers.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Twenty-nine-year-old Garrett Setterholm pleaded guilty in January to harboring six or more workers who were not in the United States legally.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Federal authorities say Setterholm employed the workers at his roofing company in the summer of 2011.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 As part of their employment, Setterholm allegedly provided the workers with apartments and transportation to and from the work sites.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson sentenced Setterholm to three months in prison, to be followed by six months of home confinement. Setterholm was ordered to forfeit $80,000.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Reward money has been increased for information that solves two year-old cases of cattle killings in North Dakota.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The reward in a Richland County case in which 13 cows and a calf were shot and killed in a pasture near Hankinson is now up to $15,100. Officials say it’s the largest cattle shooting in the state in recent memory.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The reward in an Oliver County case in which nine cattle were killed is now up to $27,000, the largest such reward in state history.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The main reason for the reward increases is a decision by the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association to increase its standing reward in any case of someone stealing, butchering or shooting cattle, horses or mules in North Dakota.
