The 76ers are a league-best 25-2 at home after Ben Simmons had 26 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in a 110-103 victory over the Clippers. Josh Richardson furnished 17 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter to help the 76ers earn their third straight win.<\/p>\n
Joel Embiid (ehm-BEED\u2019) finished with 26 points and Tobias Harris added 17 with 12 rebounds for Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

Blues defenseman collapses on bench; game postponed<\/p>\n
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) \u2014 The St. Louis Blues are monitoring the health of one of their veteran players.<\/p>\n
Defenseman Jay Bouwmeester (BOH\u2019-mees-tur) had a cardiac episode during a play stoppage in the first period of the Blues\u2019 game against the Ducks in Anaheim.<\/p>\n
Bouwmeester appeared to be awake and alert as he was being transported out of the arena to a hospital. St. Louis\u2019 radio announcer Chris Kerber said during an interview with the team\u2019s flagship station that a defibrillator was used.<\/p>\n
The 36-year-old appeared to be grabbing a drink of water when he began to slowly fall. Emergency medical personnel rushed to the Blues bench before Bouwmeester was taken off the bench.<\/p>\n
Both teams then went back to their locker rooms and the game was postponed a few minutes later tied at 1.<\/p>\n
Bouwmeester is in his 17th NHL season and eighth with the Blues. He was a key member of their Stanley Cup-winning team last season.<\/p>\n

Oilers’ McDavid out with quad injury<\/p>\n
UNDATED (AP) \u2014 Edmonton captain Connor McDavid will be out two to three weeks with a quad injury.<\/p>\n
The injury was initially said to be a bruised knee from Saturday\u2019s game against the Nashville Predators. McDavid later called it a charley horse\/quad injury.<\/p>\n
The Oilers captain said the injury was not related to the knee problem sustained in last year’s season finale against Calgary.<\/p>\n

Red Sox promote Roenicke to interim manager<\/p>\n
FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) \u2014 Ron Roenicke (REH\u2019-nih-kee) is the Boston Red Sox\u2019s new field general.<\/p>\n
The Red Sox have promoted the bench coach to interim manager on the day pitchers and catchers reported to the team\u2019s spring training camp. Roenicke replaces Alex Cora, who was let go for his role in the Astros’ sign-stealing scandal while serving as Houston\u2019s bench coach during the team\u2019s 2017 World Series run.<\/p>\n
The interim tag will stay until Major League Baseball completes its investigation into whether the Red Sox engaged in illegal sign-stealing during their 2018 World Series championship season. Roenicke has denied being part of any rules violation and is expected to become permanent manager if the probe clears him.<\/p>\n
The Red Sox won the 2018 World Series in their first season under Cota, but the franchise slipped to third place last year with an 84-78 record.<\/p>\n

\u2014 A person with knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press that the Mariners have agreed to a minor league contract with three-time All-Star outfielder Carlos Gonz\u00e1lez. The 34-year-old Gonzalez played just 45 games last season, hitting a combined .200 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in 145 at-bats for the Indians and Cubs.<\/p>\n
\u2014 Teams improved to 4-0 in salary arbitration this year when the Rockies defeated catcher Tony Wolters. He will earn $1.9 million rather than his request for $2,475,000. The 27-year-old Wolters hit .262 with one homer and 42 RBIs in 411 plate appearances while making $960,000 last season.<\/p>\n
\u2014 Dodgers reliever Pedro B\u00e1ez has asked an arbitration panel for a raise to $4 million for this season, while the ballclub has argued that he should receive $4.5 million. Panthers owner says Cam Newton\u2019s future depends on health<\/p>\n
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) \u2014 Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper remains noncommittal on Cam Newton’s future with the organization, saying it will largely depend on how the quarterback recovers from foot surgery.<\/p>\n
Tepper told reporters Tuesday that he\u2019s \u201cnot a doctor\u201d and is neither is Newton, who missed 14 games last season with a foot injury. He had surgery on Dec. 11.<\/p>\n
The Panthers could save $19 million under next year’s salary cap if they trade or release the 2015 league MVP. Tepper said the Panthers have not had any teams inquire about a trade for Newton.<\/p>\n
Newton said in an interview during Super Bowl week that he \u201cabsolutely\u201d expects to play in Carolina next season.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 NCAA President Mark Emmert has urged Congress to step in and put restrictions on college athletes’ ability to earn money from endorsements.<\/p>\n
Emmert told a Senate committee federal action was needed to \u201cmaintain uniform standards in college sports\u201d amid player-friendly laws approved in California and under consideration in other states.<\/p>\n
The NCAA has said it will allow players to \u201cbenefit\u201d from the use of their name, image and likeness and is working on rules for the payments. Under the NCAA’s timeline, athletes would be able to take advantage of endorsement opportunities beginning next January.<\/p>\n

Columbus police tell The Columbus Dispatch authorities charged defensive players Amir I. Riep and Jahsen L. Wint late Tuesday and warrants have been issued for their arrests. They\u2019re both 21 years old.<\/p>\n
In an affidavit filed by police, the woman was hanging out with Riep at an apartment he shares with Wint on Feb. 4 when they began to engage in consensual sex. The woman stopped and told Riep she didn’t want to continue. Wint then entered the room and asked if he could join. Police say after the assault Wint told the woman she needed to say what happened was \u201cconsensual on a video recording while laughing at her.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In his Tuesday night win, the 78-year-old self-described democratic socialist beat back a strong challenge from the 38-year-old former South Bend, Indiana, mayor. Sanders and Buttigieg represent different generations and wings of their party. Sanders declared his victory in New Hampshire \u201cis the beginning of the end” for President Donald Trump. Amy Klobuchar finished a strong third, giving her campaign an unexpected boost. Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden finished way behind. Andrew Yang and Michael Bennet dropped out of the 2020 race.<\/p>\n

LAS VEGAS (AP) \u2014 Concerns are growing that next week’s Nevada caucuses could offer a repeat of the chaos that ensnared the Iowa vote. Nevada is facing many of the same organizational and technical challenges that crippled Iowa\u2019s process. Volunteers who will be leading the Feb. 22 caucuses say key information has yet to be shared. There has been no hands-on training with iPads being deployed to caucus sites on Election Day nor opportunities to try out a new \u201ctool\u201d that will be loaded onto the iPads and used during the caucus process. Nevada Democrats were initially working with the same app developer used in Iowa but scrapped those plans after the company’s app failed there.<\/p>\n

BEIJING (AP) \u2014 The number of new cases in China has dropped for a second straight day in a virus outbreak that has infected about 45,000 people and killed more than 1,100. While most of the infections have been in China, it has gradually rippled overseas. Thirty-nine new cases were confirmed on a cruise ship quarantined in Japan, bringing the total to 174 on the Diamond Princess. China is struggling to restart its economy after the annual Lunar New Year holiday was extended to try to curb the spread of the virus. Traffic remained light in Beijing and many people were still working at home.<\/p>\n

With that deadline looming, Census Bureau director Steven Dillingham is going to Capitol Hill to update lawmakers about the agency’s readiness. The Census is the largest peacetime operation the federal government undertakes. Lawmakers planned to question Dillingham on Wednesday about whether the bureau is finding enough workers to hire. They also plan to ask about the bureau’s outreach efforts to encourage every person to participate. The House Committee on Oversight and Reform is holding the hearing. Democratic U.S. Rep.
