ABERDEEN, S.D.–\u00a0 (uj.edu<\/a>)\u00a0 The University of Jamestown softball team won a pair of games Saturday at the PC Dome, defeating Dickinson State (N.D.) University 8-2 and Dakota State (S.D.) University 6-3.<\/p>\n The wins improve Jamestown’s record to 3-1 and the Jimmies will be back in Aberdeen next weekend for four more games indoors.<\/p>\n Four runs in each of the first and second innings were all the offense UJ needed against Dickinson State in Saturday’s opener.<\/p>\n Morgan Geiszler<\/a> (JR\/Horace, N.D.) and\u00a0Sydney Prussia<\/a> (JR\/Detroit Lakes, Minn.) had run-scoring hits in the first, while Geiszler, Mikayla Frost<\/a> (SR\/Melba, Idaho), Katie Reisdorfer<\/a> (JR\/Fresno, Calif.), and Kassi Ward<\/a> (JR\/Olympia, Wash.) brought home runs in the second inning.<\/p>\n Every Jimmie starter recorded a base hit with Frost, Reisdorfer, Santina Zito<\/a> (SO\/Boise, Idaho), and Mariah Wick<\/a> (JR\/Jamestown, N.D.) all finishing with a pair of hits. Frost, Ward, and Reisdorfer all doubled. Wick and Steph Cota<\/a> (SO\/Tucson, Ariz.) each swiped a base for UJ.<\/p>\n Katie Merchant<\/a> (SO\/South Haven, Minn.) (2-0) tossed four hitless innings, allowing just one unearned run while walking one and striking out four. Becca Thompson<\/a> (FR\/Valley City, N.D.) worked the final three innings and struck out three.<\/p>\n UJ scored four of its six runs in the final three innings against Dakota State in Saturday’s nightcap.<\/p>\n The Jimmie bats produced 17 hits in the game, with six of the them going for extra bases. Cota and Megan Neiles<\/a> (FR\/Winnipeg, MB) each doubled twice.<\/p>\n Cota, Neiles, and Wick all had three hits, with Geiszler and Caitlyn Courtney<\/a> (SR\/Caldwell, TX) adding two hits each.<\/p>\n Ann-Marie Crandlemire<\/a> (SO\/Sicamous, BC) (1-0) was the winning pitcher. She worked four innings and gave up one run on three hits, striking out four and walking one.
