{"id":195674,"date":"2020-03-31T22:55:19","date_gmt":"2020-04-01T03:55:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=195674"},"modified":"2020-04-05T18:50:21","modified_gmt":"2020-04-05T23:50:21","slug":"vcsu-postpones-2020-spring-commencement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=195674","title":{"rendered":"VCSU postpones 2020 spring commencement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-72067\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/vcsugraduation-300x198.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" \/>Valley City\u00a0 (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsu.edu\/news\/10835\/vcsu-postpones-spring-commencement\">VCSU)<\/a> Officials at VCSU have postponed its spring 2020 commencement ceremony, originally scheduled for Sat May 16.<\/p>\n<p>Citing public health and safety concerns, President Alan LaFave made the announcement in an email to the campus community March 31.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike so many of the other decisions we\u2019ve needed to make recently, this one doesn\u2019t come easy,\u201d said President LaFave. \u201cCelebrating the educational achievements of our undergraduate and graduate students and awarding them their diplomas is one of the most significant university events, befitting the traditional pomp and circumstance that accompanies the ceremony. But this year\u2019s unique circumstances dictate that we delay that celebration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although LaFave indicated that VCSU hopes to have an in-person ceremony at a later date, no specific date has been set for the event.
