News May 27,2013) &#8212; &#8220;Rib Fest,&#8221; will be at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, on June 1, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Proceeds from the event will support Stutsman County Relay for Life, from Ave Maria Village, and vendors, and those cooking ribs.<\/p>\n<p>Other Relay for Life teams may sell items other than ribs, to support their own team, while participating the Ave Maria Village event.<\/p>\n<p>On the pre-recorded Memorial Day edition of the Wayne Byers Show, on CSi Cable 2, Lori Mettert with the Ave Maria Village, Activities Department said, the event will be from 11-am to 4-p.m., at Ave Maria Village. Maps will be handed out as people come into the event, so everybody knows where to find the various activities.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Mettert pointed that the 1<sup>st<\/sup> Annual &#8220;Rib Fest,&#8221; in 2012, raised over $9,300 for Relay for Life.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Vendors and rib cookers may also donate all or a portion of their sales to Relay for Life, or designate a free will offering.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Mettert said they will have one ton of ribs available to cook, and will NOT run out of ribs this year.<\/p>\n<p>She added that vendors will also have racks of ribs available to purchase to bring home.<\/p>\n<p>This year there will be two awards given out, the judged &#8220;Best Ribs,&#8221; and new this year is the &#8220;Peoples Choice,&#8221; Award, with voting on favorites, at &#8220;a buck-bone.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She added the entrance cost is $5 for adults, and $3 for children 12 and under.<\/p>\n<p>The ribs purchase per plate, is up to the decision of each vendor.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers are needed to do the cooking. They along with concessionaires and vendors are welcome to get signed up now.<\/p>\n<p>She pointed out that this year the Silent Auction will run from 11-a.m., to 3-p.m., adding there will be &#8220;buy it now,&#8221; items also available.<\/p>\n<p>Seating will be available for Ave Maria Village residents who will also take part in the festivities.<\/p>\n<p>Raffles will include buying tickets at $5 each, or 3\/$10.00. Prizes include a $400 BBQ grill &amp; set, and a Bicycle donated by Wal-Mart.<\/p>\n<p>Also at Rib Fest there will be the car, motorcycle, and tractor show, trophies will be awarded in various categories. No entry fee.<\/p>\n<p>She added that there will be music entertainment through Rib Fest with bands.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a 12 and under dance to the music of Buffalo Groove.<\/p>\n<p>Ave Maria, Chaplain, Deacon Tom, who is in charge of kids games noted, that this year there will be two categories of inflatable games, one, set aside for the younger kids.<\/p>\n<p>He added that there will also be barrel rides for the kids, and kids foods, like hot dogs, Philly Cheesesteak, mini donuts, BBQs, slushies, floats, candy and more.<\/p>\n<p>Those wishing to be vendors, or enter cars, motorcycles, or tractors may contact her, along with anyone wishing to donate silent auction items.<\/p>\n<p>Those wishing to enter cars motorcycles or tractors may also enter the day of the event.<\/p>\n<p>There will be plenty of parking available.<\/p>\n<p>Contact Lori Mettert or Jeanne at Ave Maria Village at 252-5660.<\/p>\n<p>Bismarck, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; North Dakota Congressman Kevin Cramer will hold Freshman Forum events, and is scheduled to speak at a Jamestown, event, on Tuesday May 28, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The Freshman Forum features an open dialogue with a question-and-answer session, and are open to members of each Chamber of Commerce organization.<\/p>\n<p>Congressman Cramer will present his remarks, at noon Tuesday to the Jamestown Rotary Club meeting, at the Quality Inn &amp; Suites in Jamestown, on Highway 281 South<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BUFFALO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A monument honoring the men and women who served in the armed forces has been dedicated in the North Dakota town of Buffalo.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0The 6-by-10-foot by black granite open-book-style memorial was completed by the American Legion Easton Yanish Post 10 last fall.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Veterans read the names on the monument during a Memorial Day dedication program. An honor guard gave a 21-gun salute and the North Dakota Patriot Guard played &#8220;Taps.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A Medal of Honor symbol will be engraved on the upper center with ribbon-like carvings to the top of the book. The monument&#8217;s granite foundation is in the shape of a pentagon with service seals engraved on the base. (AP) &#8211; Two Bismarck-based motorcycle clubs are teaming up to create a monument for veterans<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Viet Nam Vets Legacy Vets and the Second Brigade have raised nearly $100,000 of the $200,000 needed.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 30-foot-wide, 7-foot-high Prisoner of War and Missing in Action memorial will be built north of the All Veterans Cemetery chapel.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 National VNVLV secretary Butch Olson says the memorial will list the 360 or so names of all POWs from North Dakota from World War I, World War II, Vietnam, Korea, the Cold War and through today.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Olson says money for the monument has been raised through donations from businesses and the public.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The clubs are commemorating Memorial Day with an honor ride for veterans ending at the cemetery south of Mandan.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s congressional delegation is urging President Barack Obama to approve Gov. Jack Dalrymple&#8217;s request for a disaster declaration for 16 counties and the Spirit Lake Reservation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dalrymple made the request last week. If approved, the disaster declaration would make federal funding available to help with recovery from spring flooding in the Red River, Souris River and Devils Lake basins.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sens. (AP) &#8211; A man is dead after being struck by a train in downtown Fargo.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The incident was reported about 4 a.m. Monday. Police did not immediately identify the victim, who died at the scene.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Details were immediately released.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities closed the crossing while they investigated. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Highway Patrol says three New Town residents have been killed in a rollover crash east of Williston.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The patrol says that 33-year-old Adam Chase was driving a Jeep Wrangler east on North Dakota Highway 1804 about 13 miles east of Williston about 2 a.m. Sunday when he lost control on a curve. The Jeep drifted in the south ditch, slid sideways and vaulted over an approach, landing on its roof.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The patrol says the crash killed Chase and two passengers, 29-year-old Zachariah Whitehorn and 35-year-old Loren Whitehorn.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Officials say North Dakota&#8217;s uncongested airspace and unpredictable weather make the state an ideal spot for an unmanned aerial systems test site.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state has committed $1 million in promotional costs and $4 million in operational costs in an effort to become one of six operations throughout the country to test civilian drones &#8211; in good weather and bad.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota Department of Commerce spokesman Brian Opp says the airspace in northeastern North Dakota is already designated for drone use by the University of North Dakota, so it would be a smooth transition.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Opp says two of the primary uses for drones are agriculture and energy, which also makes the state a good fit for the test center.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>PEMBINA, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The off-highway vehicle trail in the Pembina Gorge State Recreation Area has been closed because of erosion caused by recent heavy rains in northeastern North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 12-mile looped trail is for off-highway vehicles, hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. The state Parks and Recreation Department says it is closed until further notice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem and U.S. Attorney Tim Purdon say North Dakota is experiencing an &#8220;epidemic&#8221; of telephone lottery scams.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The men are holding a meeting Tuesday at the state Capitol to discuss efforts to combat the scams.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials say there has been a big increase in the scams this spring in North Dakota. Officials say the scams often target the elderly and other &#8220;vulnerable&#8221; citizens.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; West Fargo city commissioners say they are stung by the stench from the city&#8217;s sewage lagoons.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Commissioners have asked the city&#8217;s public works director to find out what can he do about an unusually pervasive smell that has led to complaints.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 City commissioner Mark Simmons says the odor &#8220;roams the city&#8221; and believes the leaders owe to citizens to be proactive and offer an explanation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Public Works Director Barry Johnson says he&#8217;s skeptical about complaints that the West Fargo smell has invaded Fargo. He says he doesn&#8217;t know how people could differentiate smells from different composts and landfills.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0West Fargo has tried chemically treating the ponds, but the lagoons are too big and it costs too much at $60,000 for each application.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In sports\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V.
