News May 29, 2013) &#8212; The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers on Wednesday (May 29, 2013) at noon, decreased the Jamestown Dam release from 1,000 cfs, to 850 cfs.<\/p>\n<p>Bob Martin in Jamestown says, the reduction stems from the forecast of possible heavy rainfall amounts in the James River basin in the next few days.<\/p>\n<p>Martin says, the reduction in releases from Jamestown Dam is for an unspecified period of time.<\/p>\n<p>The release from Pipestem Dam remains at 200 cfs, for combined release of 1,050 cfs, down from 1,200 cfs.<\/p>\n<p>The reduction from Jamestown Reservoir drops the James River level downstream of the confluence by about 9 inches.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The Jamestown Police Department is warning residents of a convicted sex offender living in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>The report says Eric David Lacey is residing at 403 1<sup>st<\/sup> Avenue, North Apt #4 in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>He is a 53 year old white male 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 280 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair.<\/p>\n<p>He has been assigned a high risk assessment by the North Dakota Risk Level Committee of the North Dakota Attorney General\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>Lacey was convicted in March of 2009 in federal court in California after the FBI found him in possession child pornography images on a laptop computer.<\/p>\n<p>His disposition in federal court was 60 months supervised probation.<\/p>\n<p>In November of 2008 Lacey\u2019s disposition was 60 months of supervised probation, convicted in U.S. Federal Court in North Dakota, of Possession of Material-Sex Exploit of Minors, after FBI agents executed a search warrant of Lacey\u2019s Bismarck residence, in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Lacey is not wanted by police at this time and is currently serving the sentence imposed by the court.<\/p>\n<p>This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault, or intimidate the offender.<\/p>\n<p>Attempts to harass, intimidate, or threaten these offenders or their families, landlords, or employers will be turned over for prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>Printed handouts of Lacey\u2019s photo and demographics are available at the Jamestown Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>More information on registered offenders is available on the North Dakota Attorney General\u2019s web site<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sexoffender.nd.gov\/\">www.sexoffender.nd.gov<\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u3000<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u3000<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. (AP) \u2013 North Dakota Tax Commissioner Cory Fong says the state\u2019s strong economy is leading to continued record growth in taxable sales and purchases.<\/p>\n<p>Fong says taxable sales and purchases in the state during the last three months of 2012 totaled about $6.7 billion, up nearly 10 percent over the year. Both the clerk and the suspect were taken to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries they suffered in the ensuing scuffle.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the woman and the man did not know one another, and they&#8217;re trying to determine whether robbery was the motive for the attack.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Fargo police are searching for two men who robbed and shot a man in broad daylight near a Fargo gas station. Police in Minot are trying to find two men who unsuccessfully tried to rob a local bar.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fargo police say a man was robbed of his wallet and cellphone and then shot in the leg outside a Loaf &#8216;N Jug store Wednesday afternoon. The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries authorities said were not life-threatening.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In Minot, two men with guns entered Sidekicks Lounge on Wednesday afternoon but apparently became flustered and fled without taking anything. No one was hurt.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; An arrest warrant has been issued for a former North Dakota State University football player accused of not serving his community service time that was ordered after he admitted forging signatures on an election petition last fall.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Twenty-one-year-old Don Carter was one of 15 defendants who pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of faking signatures on failed petitions seeking statewide votes to establish an outdoor heritage fund and legalize medical marijuana.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He&#8217;s accused of not completing his court-mandated community service.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Carter was due in court on Tuesday, but a spokeswoman for the Cass County Attorney&#8217;s Office\u00a0says \u00a0he didn&#8217;t show up. Authorities then issued an arrest warrant.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An arrest warrant was issued last month for another defendant who is also accused of failing to complete his community service.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Two North Dakota men have been sentenced to prison for driving while drunk and killing another driver or passenger.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U. S. Attorney Timothy Purdon announced Wednesday that 36-year-old Louis John Dunn was sentenced to three years and five months in prison. Dunn pleaded guilty to the charge of involuntary manslaughter in March.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prosecutors say Dunn was driving drunk last October when he drove into the lane of on-coming traffic and struck Andrew Greywater, who later died from his injuries. The incident occurred on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Purdon also announced that 38-year-old Jamie Belgarde of St. Michael was sentenced to two years in prison. Belgarde pleaded guilty to rolling his vehicle after driving drunk and killing a passenger, his brother Donald Belgarde Junior.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A preliminary medical examiner&#8217;s report says a man who died several weeks after he reportedly hit his head during a scuffle outside of a Fargo strip club died from blunt head injury.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Thirty-eight-year-old Christopher Barr was allegedly pushed by a club employee during a fight at the Northern Gentleman&#8217;s Club on April 13th. He died about a month later.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fargo Deputy Police Chief Pat Claus tells The Forum that the investigation into Barr&#8217;s death remains open. Claus says he would not release details of the death, including the manner of death or whether Barr had alcohol or drugs in his system.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; President Obama has approved Gov. Jack Dalrymple&#8217;s request for a federal disaster declaration to help 16 North Dakota counties and the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation recover from flooding.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Obama approved the disaster declaration on Wednesday. The declaration makes federal funding available to help communities cover the costs for flood mitigation and flood recovery efforts.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The declaration covers the counties of Benson, Bottineau, Cass, Cavalier, Eddy, Foster, McHenry and Pembina. (AP) &#8211; Funeral services are being held this morning for former North Dakota state Representative Gordon Berg. Today&#8217;s memorial service starts at 11 a.m. inside Saint Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake. (AP) &#8211; A federal appeals court has upheld a judge&#8217;s decision to throw out a lawsuit by some tribal members over the University of North Dakota&#8217;s now-retired Fighting Sioux nickname.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in a ruling released Wednesday said the suit filed against the NCAA failed to show that the governing body of college athletics &#8220;acted with discriminatory intent&#8221; when it banned the use of American Indian names and imagery in postseason competition.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Minot attorney Reed Soderstrom represented the tribal members.
