{"id":201809,"date":"2020-06-17T09:44:35","date_gmt":"2020-06-17T14:44:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=201809"},"modified":"2020-06-17T09:44:35","modified_gmt":"2020-06-17T14:44:35","slug":"business-briefing-call-available-jun-18-state-programs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=201809","title":{"rendered":"Business Briefing call available Jun 18, state programs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bismarck\u00a0 (CSi) \u00a0\u00a0 \u2013 The North Dakota Department of Commerce has announced that a special Business Briefing call will be held this Thursday, June 18, at 9 a.m., in response to the latest updates regarding the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) and the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced on Monday, June 15, that the EIDL and EIDL Advance program portal was reopened to further meet the needs of small businesses, nonprofits and agriculture businesses experiencing economic impacts due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The EIDL program offers long-term, low-interest assistance for small businesses or nonprofits to provide economic support to help alleviate temporary loss of revenue.\u00a0The assistance can be used to cover payroll and inventory, make debt payments or fund other expenses.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the EIDL program, the EIDL Advance can provide up to $10,000 ($1,000 per employee) of emergency economic relief to businesses that are currently experiencing temporary difficulties. The advance does not have to be repaid and applicants can receive an advance without being approved for the loan.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTime is of the essence when applying for EIDL funding,\u201d North Dakota U.S. Small Business Administration Director Al Haut said. \u201cBusinesses and nonprofits are highly encouraged to apply for funding in a timely matter as recipients will receive money on a first-come, first-serve basis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The SBA resumed processing EIDL applications that were submitted before the portal stopped accepting new applications on April 15 and will be processing submitted applications on a first-come, first-served basis.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Applications can be accessed <a href=\"https:\/\/gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcovid19relief.sba.gov%2F&amp;data=02%7C01%7Cndjic%40nd.gov%7Cc2b4fb3676cf4f9bd4b908d81242ced2%7C2dea0464da514a88bae2b3db94bc0c54%7C0%7C0%7C637279425450170757&amp;sdata=3VwGpjT1kb9xbBPoe903utM2DeurEDSY5HbCodoSUpI%3D&amp;reserved=0\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the EIDL updates, the U.S. Senate passed the House version of Paycheck Protection Program legislation, tripling the time allotted for small businesses and other PPP loan recipients to spend the funds and still qualify for forgiveness of the loans.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore than 19,000 North Dakota businesses received the PPP loan, and the program is still open to new applicants until June 30,\u201d Commerce Commissioner Michelle Kommer said. \u201cThe recently signed PPP Flexibility Act makes important changes to the program that may be favorable for businesses.
