(AP) \u2014 A federal judge rejected a request for an emergency order to delay the process of shutting down the Dakota Access pipeline while attorneys appeal a ruling to shutter the pipeline during the course of an environmental review. \u00a0Pipeline attorneys filed the motion \u2014 along with a notice of appeal \u2014 late Monday after U.S. District Judge James Boasberg ruled to stop the flow of oil by Aug. 5.<\/p>\n<p>In denying the request for an expedited ruling, Boasberg said Tuesday he will scheduled a status hearing to discuss scheduling when he receives the Dakota Access motion to keep the pipeline running. \u00a0Dakota Access attorney William Scherman said in his motion filed Monday that shutting down the pipeline requires a number of time-consuming and expensive steps that would take \u201dwell more\u201d than 30 days.<\/p>\n<p>Previously<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A federal judge has ordered the Dakota Access pipeline to shut down until more environmental review is done. The pipeline has been carrying oil for three years. But U.S. District Judge James Boasberg said in April that the pipeline remains \u201chighly controversial\u201d under federal environmental law and a more extensive review was necessary than the environmental assessment that was done. \u00a0On Monday, the judge wrote that even though the disruption will be significant, he had concluded the pipeline must be shut down.
