News) &#8212; The Jamestown City Planning Commission has approved sending to the Jamestown City Council, a land use plan.<\/p>\n<p>The plan includes information such as the physical features of Jamestown and surroundings, along with descriptions of different types of land uses shown and statements of future intended land use.<\/p>\n<p>Senior associate planner with SRF Consulting Group, Cindy Gray says, the processes for amending the Growth Management Plan and that for making zoning changes could be done at the same time, and that the Growth Management Plan is still flexible.<\/p>\n<p>A change in the draft includes instead of having an industrial area adjacent to the north side of Interstate 94 and the west side of the U.S. 52 Bypass, presently residential, the Planning Commission changed the area to commercial.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi- T.V. News) &#8212; The Jamestown Stutsman Development Corporation has learned that Endless Harvest has downsized its plans for a commercial greenhouse operation near Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Endless Harvest has changed the planned $12 million, 2.7-acre operation to a $2 million half-acre plan.<\/p>\n<p>The project has the same investors core,, and will be at the same location.<\/p>\n<p>JSDC, CEO, Connie Ova Says, Endless Harvest is planning to return to the JSDC with a request for assistance.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) \u2014 A student from Germany was hosted in Montpelier, and spent the past academic year, as a junior<i> <\/i>at Montpelier High School.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday\u2019s (Jun 10, 2013) Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Catherine Scott of Jamestown said she has worked since 1988 with the American Institute for Foreign Study Foundation\u2019s, Academic Year in America (AYA) program, founded in 1981.<\/p>\n<p>On our show was 17 year old Melanie Huellen, from the Hamburg, Germany area.<\/p>\n<p>Melanie was a junior at Montpelier, and enjoyed living on a farm, which was far different from here city life experiences in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s leaving and heading home on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>She will be junior this coming school year in Germany, which has one extra year of high school in their school systems.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Scott said the foreign exchange students host families provide a home and transportation, three meals a day on weekends, and holidays. News) &#8212; A ceremony honoring the nation\u2019s flag, and an official flag retirement ceremony are planned for Flag Day June 14, 2013, at 7-p.m., at Fort Seward in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Following a short program the Girl Scouts of Jamestown will conduct the retirement ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony is sponsored by the Patriotic Council of Jamestown, which will serve refreshments and cookies after the ceremony. (AP) &#8211; Authorities have recovered the body of a man who is believed to have drowned in the Missouri River near Bismarck.<\/p>\n<p>The Burleigh County Sheriff&#8217;s Office says a dive rescue team pulled the body from the water Monday afternoon in the area of the Kimball Bottoms boat ramp. The man was last seen while swimming on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities did not immediately identify the 52-year-old man.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A woman is in custody after an overnight standoff in Grand Forks. Authorities say the woman was armed and apparently suicidal, and refused to leave her home. Some area residents were evacuated as a precaution yesterday morning. The woman was taken into custody around 5 a.m. Monday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Cannonball man has pleaded guilty to burning down a church on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.<\/p>\n<p>Nineteen-year-old Phoenix Martinez was accused of torching the St. James Episcopal Church in Cannonball late last July. The church was destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says Martinez faces up to 25 years in prison when he&#8217;s sentenced on Sept. 30 on an arson charge in federal court in Bismarck.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A former Fargo investment broker has pleaded guilty to bilking investors out of more than $900,000. Sixty-five-year-old Robert Medhus (MAY&#8217;-hoos) entered the plea yesterday. Prosecutors say Medhus forged client checks, created fake investment account statements and failed to invest client assets as promised.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s U.S. senators both support the Senate&#8217;s version of the next federal farm bill.<\/p>\n<p>Republican John Hoeven and Democrat Heidi Heitkamp both say the bill enhances crops insurance, continues the sugar program and reduces the budget deficit.<\/p>\n<p>The five-year, half-trillion-dollar farm bill passed by the Senate on Monday expands government subsidies for crop insurance, rice and peanuts while making small cuts to food stamps. It also eliminates subsidies that are paid to farmers whether they farm or not.<\/p>\n<p>The House is to take up its version of the farm bill later this month.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s ongoing wet weather is continuing to halt or slow planting progress across the state.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Department of Agriculture says in its weekly crop report that there were 3 days suitable for fieldwork on average last week.<\/p>\n<p>Spring wheat seeding is rated just 77 percent complete, trailing last year&#8217;s 94 percent average. Seeding was completed by this time last year.<\/p>\n<p>Spring wheat is 58 percent emerged, behind last year at 100 percent and the 85 percent average.<\/p>\n<p>Durum wheat seeding is also behind at 78 percent complete. The crop is 55 percent emerged, behind last year at 99 percent and the average of 74 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Pasture and range conditions are rated 1 percent very poor, 2 percent poor, 14 percent fair, 61 percent good and 22 percent excellent.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Minnesota businesses along the North Dakota border say state tax changes are making it nearly impossible for them to compete with companies across the state line. Public Radio News reports Minnesota has raised property, sales, gas and cigarette taxes. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota State star linebacker Travis Beck has been charged with felony aggravated assault.<\/p>\n<p>Beck was charged with assault Monday in East Central District Court. The charge stems from an incident late Saturday night outside a Fargo bar.<\/p>\n<p>It was the second time Beck has had a run-in with the law in his NDSU career. He was fined and sentenced to 40 hours of community service after pleading guilty to underage drinking. A charge of resisting a police officer was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Beck was named the most valuable player in the 2011 Division I Football Championship Subdivision title game. It was the first of NDSU&#8217;s back-to-back national titles.<\/p>\n<p>GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; University of North Dakota officials say construction of a new indoor practice facility should begin this fall. The building will be constructed on the site of the old Ralph Englestad Arena, which was home to the school&#8217;s hockey team for 29 years. The UND Athletics High Performance Center will be used by all the school&#8217;s athletic teams.<\/p>\n<p>GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The all-time leading scorers in University of North Dakota women&#8217;s basketball and men&#8217;s hockey are part of this year&#8217;s class being inducted into the school&#8217;s athletic hall of fame. Jenny Crouse led UND to three straight NCAA Division Two women&#8217;s basketball titles and ended her career with 2,284 points. Greg Johnson finished his UND career with 272 points, including a WCHA-record 198 assists.
