News) &#8212;\u00a0 The Stutsman County Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) Team responded to its first rescue mission on Monday this week, at the Missouri River near Bismarck, when it assisted the Burleigh County Sheriff\u2019s Department in locating a drowning victim\u2019s body.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown City Fire Chief, Reuther says the call from Burleigh County came in around 8 p.m. Sunday, asking for ROV assistance.<\/p>\n<p>Fire Department, personnel left Jamestown around 6 a.m. Monday, and the ROV was in the water at about 9:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Once spotted a diver from Burleigh County brought the body to the surface around 1 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Reuther says the search went well, and the team was back in Jamestown by about 4:15 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The newest addition to Arcadia Publishing\u2019s &#8220;Images of America,&#8221; series is JAMESTOWN.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable two, Keith Norman, who co-authored the book along with Tom Domek and Journe Domek, said the book contains more than 200 images, chronicling the growth and change in the area.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the historical photos, &#8220;Images of America: Jamestown,&#8221; features a wide assortment of local characters including\u2026.Anton Klaus \u2018The father of Jamestown,\u2019 Peggy Lee, and Louis L\u2019Amour.<\/p>\n<p>Norman said the photos were obtained from various sources, including from private individuals, the National Buffalo Museum, the Stutsman County Memorial Museum and other historical archives.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Domek, originally from Marion, North Dakota, has authored five other books including &#8220;Images of America: Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, and Keystone.<\/p>\n<p>Keith Norman is the author of eight books including the &#8220;Great Stories of the Great Plains,&#8221; series, and &#8220;Great People of the Great Plains,&#8221; with those books still available to purchase at the National Buffalo Museum in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Images of America, Jamestown,&#8221; is a 128 page soft-cover book with over 200 images, and is sold at a cost of $24.99.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Gov. Jack Dalrymple is calling on North Dakotans to observe Flag Day by displaying the American flag Friday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dalrymple says the nation&#8217;s flag symbolizes freedom and opportunity, and is a reminder of the sacrifices made by those in the military.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) \u2014 A ceremony honoring the nation\u2019s flag, and an official flag retirement ceremony are planned for Flag Day June 14, 2013, at 7-p.m., at Fort Seward in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Following a short program the Girl Scouts of Jamestown will conduct the retirement ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony is sponsored by the Patriotic Council of Jamestown, which will serve refreshments and cookies after the ceremony. News Jun 13, 2013) \u2014 The <strong>Mrs. North Dakota Pageant<\/strong><b> is set for Jamestown <\/b><strong>June 15, 2013, at 7:00pm<\/strong><b><b>, at the Jamestown Civic Center.<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>On the Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, the State Director for the Mrs. North Dakota Pageant, and former Mrs. North Dakota, Mary Schwartzkopf, of Jamestown said, those competing will tour Jamestown, meet distinguished people in the community as well as getting involved in some activities in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, June 14<sup>th<\/sup>, Flag Day, the ladies hope to be involved a little in some of the Flag Day events.<\/p>\n<p>They will be competing in categories, including Personal Interview which is one on one; Swimwear which is portraying Confidence and Physical Fitness, as well as Evening Gown, portraying elegance and eloquence.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Jamestown, Eliza Potratz, the current Pageant Ambassador, is a candidate for the title this year. She is also an avid volunteer to help the Veterans in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>A special event this year is the<\/p>\n<p><strong>Princess Pageant<\/strong><b>, for girls Ages 4 \u2013 10 years old, on <\/b><strong>June 15, 2013, at 1:30 pm<\/strong><b><b>, and Mrs. North Dakota\u2019s daughter will lead the event.<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The girls will all receive a crown and a special surprise.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a Peoples Choice Award given out.<\/p>\n<p>They will also get to participate in the pageant evening event that day.<\/p>\n<p>The Mrs. North Dakota local titleholders will model in a special fashion show during the Princess Pageant.<br \/>\nA portion of the pageant proceeds will support the anti domestic violence program Kettish House.<\/p>\n<p>The Reigning Mrs. North Dakota is Amanda Brumfield. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s top media lawyer is questioning whether the state Board of Higher Education broke open meeting laws during sessions involving board members and university presidents.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Three board members met individually with the state&#8217;s college and university presidents in Bismarck. University System officials say no public notice was required because a quorum of the board wasn&#8217;t present.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota Newspaper Association attorney Jack McDonald says even though there wasn&#8217;t a quorum, the members in attendance appeared to be authorized to act on behalf of the board. He says that means they were working as a committee and needed to make the meetings public.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Bismarck Tribune and The Forum are seeking an opinion from Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem, who has said the board violated open meeting laws in the past.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities have arrested a man they say robbed a pharmacy in Dickinson.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say they found suspect Joshua Hunt at a truck stop early Thursday. They had been searching for him since he allegedly entered the Irsfeld Pharmacy about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and passed an employee a threatening note demanding drugs.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0 Hunt was arrested without incident. He was jailed pending formal charges.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A 27-year-old man says he will sign a plea agreement in a wide-ranging synthetic drug investigation that began a year ago after the overdose deaths of two teens in the Grand Forks area.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ryan Lane, of East Grand Forks, Minn., is charged in federal court with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances resulting in injury or death. He faces life in prison.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lane is one of more than a dozen people charged in the case, many of whom have been sentenced to prison. Lane&#8217;s attorney filed notice in court earlier this week that his client plans to finalize the plea agreement.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Eighteen-year-old Christian Bjerk, of Grand Forks, and 17-year-old Elijah Stai, of Park Rapids, Minn., died within a week of each other in June 2012 after allegedly ingesting the hallucinogens.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Two men have been charged in Bismarck with trying to set up sexual encounters with a minor.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Thirty-two-year-old Aaron Collins and 29-year-old Bobby Abplanalp are charged with attempted human trafficking, a felony that carries a maximum punishment upon conviction of 20 years in prison.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A judge has set bond for each suspect at $50,000 cash. Both are requesting public defenders.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; An Arkansas man who spent 542 days in a North Dakota jail before he was cleared of attempted murder is suing police and others over the investigation of the case.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Thomas James Mashburn was accused of stabbing Jay Rasberry after an argument that started inside a Minot bar in September 2011. The case was dismissed on March 2nd.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mashburn is claiming civil rights violations and false imprisonment. Lawyers for law enforcement deny the allegations.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Investigators believe Mashburn stabbed Rasberry in the throat with a serrated knife. Ward County prosecutor Sean Kasson said there was a lack of credible evidence and asked to have the case dismissed.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The lawsuit was filed earlier in state court, but defendants in the case are seeking to have the complaint heard in federal court.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Minot Air Force Base unit commander is being replaced because of a loss of confidence in his ability to provide necessary leadership. Officials say Lieutenant Colonel Randy Olson has been relieved of duty. Lieutenant Colonel Trevor Hazen will assume command of the 91st Missile Wing&#8217;s operations support squadron today.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Williams County won&#8217;t be getting a new city.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 Williams County Commission voted unanimously Tuesday to deny a petition to create an incorporated city called Bakken Village. Commission Chairman Dan Kalil says backers of the proposed city north of Williston withdrew the request last week but the council still had to vote on it.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Backers of the idea had said that the new incorporated community would help solve a housing crunch in the area and provide other services.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>STANLEY, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Minnesota financial group plans to build about $150 million worth of commercial and residential projects in the western North Dakota oil patch. Minnetonka, Minnesota-based Oppidan broke ground Wednesday for projects in Stanley and Tioga. (AP) &#8211; Prosecutors have dropped an assault charge against a North Dakota State linebacker who fought with another man outside a Fargo bar.
