Individuals should check <a href=\"https:\/\/vip.sos.nd.gov\/PortalList.aspx\">for updated voting locations and requirements<\/a> before voting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you follow proper precautions, voting can be done with less risk,\u201d\u00a0said Disease Control Director Kirby Kruger. \u201cThe easiest steps are still the most effective, including wearing a face covering, staying home if you&#8217;re sick, complying with voluntary quarantine and washing your hands. Also be sure to maintain a safe distance when waiting to vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>North Dakotans should also consider other ways to vote, such as early voting if available or ballot drop-off boxes. Voting alternatives that limit the number of people you encounter or the amount of time you are in contact with others can help reduce the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Voters can minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission at polling locations by following these tips from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/community\/election-polling-locations.html#VoterRecommendations\">Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Practice\u00a0healthy behaviors to protect yourself\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/handwashing\/index.html\">Wash your hands<\/a>\u00a0before entering and after leaving the polling location.<\/li>\n<li>While in the polling location, frequently use alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol, especially after touching surfaces frequently touched by multiple people, such as door handles, pens, or voting machines.<\/li>\n<li>Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or the inside of your elbow. Throw used tissues in lined trash cans.\u00a0Wash your hands\u00a0or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol.<\/li>\n<li>Wear a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/prevent-getting-sick\/diy-cloth-face-coverings.html\">mask<\/a>. Children under 2 and anyone who has trouble breathing or is unable to remove the mask without assistance should not wear a mask.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain at least six feet (about 2 arms\u2019 length) of distance from others. It is important to continue\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/prevent-getting-sick\/social-distancing.html\">social distancing<\/a>\u00a0even when you and others are wearing masks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Avoid crowds<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use early voting, if available in your area.<\/li>\n<li>Vote at off-peak times, such as mid-morning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Be prepared<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check your voting location and requirements in advance because they may have changed due to COVID-19.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure you have all necessary documents to avoid delays at the polling location.
