News) &#8212; The James River Humane Society continues to receive support from the community in the form of fundraisers.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday\u2019s (Aug 10, 2012) Wayne Byers Show on Csi Cable 2, President, Jennifer Barnard thanked Hugo\u2019s for their fundraiser of having the option to purchase paw prints at the register and some profits of Pepsi going to JRHS.<\/p>\n<p>A thank you also went out to all the members of the local Hog Chapter and Stutsman Harley Davidson for the huge success of the annual Hogs for Dogs event.<\/p>\n<p>She thanked Coborn\u2019s for donating profits from their root beer float stand at Crazy Days\u2026Kemps contributed a portable soda fountain for it.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Ms Barnard pointed out that donations to the shelter are made from profits from recycling beverage cans and used batteries.<\/p>\n<p>She said just bring them to Gerdau Ameristeel at 1510 10st SE, open M-F 8am-5pm. Just let them know you would like JRHS\u2019s account credited for your drop off.<\/p>\n<p>She pointed out that, Lloyd\u2019s Motors fundraiser for JRHS will be in September, with more details later.<\/p>\n<p>-First Community Credit Union is planning fundraisers in the upcoming months to benefit JRHS.<\/p>\n<p>The shelter now has window clings in with the James River Humane Society\u2019s new logo.<\/p>\n<p>They are $5 and will be sold at the shelter and fundraising events.<\/p>\n<p>She added the shelter continues to appreciate all donated items from community supporters.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Barnard pointed out that as of Friday there are 18 cats and 12 dogs available for adoption.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on adoption, or how to volunteer, or donate supplies, contact the James River Humane Society at 252-0747.<\/p>\n<p>The shelter is open every day, and is located off the I-94 Bloom Exit.<\/p>\n<p>The shelter is always looking for treats for the animals (especially rawhides), and cleaning items.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota U.S. Senate candidate Rick Berg<br \/>\nhas changed a television ad to respond to objections from the YWCA<br \/>\nin Fargo and Moorhead, Minn.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The ad features the Republican&#8217;s role in building a new shelter<br \/>\nfor victims of domestic violence.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In a statement Friday, the YWCA&#8217;s board said it can&#8217;t get<br \/>\ninvolved in political campaigns, and the ad made it look like the<br \/>\ngroup was endorsing Berg.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The ad features former YWCA board chairwoman Tammy Miller. (AP) &#8211; Union leaders say they hope American<br \/>\nCrystal Sugar Co. chief executive Dave Berg will reconsider his<br \/>\ndecision to skip a community meeting about the company&#8217;s extended<br \/>\nworker lockout.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The meeting is scheduled Aug. 18 at the American Legion hall in<br \/>\nEast Grand Forks, Minn. (AP) &#8211; Wheat production in North Dakota is expected to rebound from the flood-plagued 2011.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Department of Agriculture&#8217;s first forecast for 2012 pegs North Dakota&#8217;s staple spring wheat crop at 230 million bushels, up 37 percent from last year.<\/p>\n<p>Durum wheat production is forecast at just under 46 million bushels, an increase of 152 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Winter wheat production is predicted to be 38.5 million bushels, up 177 percent.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 USDA also expects big production increases for North Dakota corn, soybeans, barley, oats and dry edible beans.<\/p>\n<p>Sugar beet production is pegged at 5.7 million tons, up 24 percent.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Alfalfa hay is the only crop expected to see a decrease, from 3.6 million tons last year to 2.4 million tons this year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MINOT, N.D.
