News) Jun 18, 2013) &#8212; The Buffalo City Tourism Foundation is moving toward pursuing aname change to changing &#8220;Tour Jamestown.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The tourism Board has approved starting the process of changing the name as part of an overall marketing strategy to have visitors identify more with the name Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Tourism Director Searle Swedlund says, visitors have commented to the Tourism staff that they find the Buffalo City name confusing.<\/p>\n<p>The foundation\u2019s website, www.tourjamestown.com, was the inspiration for the name change.<\/p>\n<p>In other business, the BCTF Board approved meeting every other month for the rest of 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The BCTF Grant and Executive boards meeting scheduled for today has been rescheduled to 11:30 a.m. June 26 at the James River Senior and Community Center, inside the Legacy Center.<\/p>\n<p>Searle Swedlund will be a regular monthly guest on the Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2.<\/p>\n<p>Also Frontier Village Manager Colleen Conley will be a monthly guest on the show this summer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Jun 18, 2013) &#8212; At the June 17, 2013 board meeting, the Jamestown Public School Board voted to spend $110,000 on a higher-quality security system for the schools, utilizing a state grant to cover the balance of the costs.<\/p>\n<p>This state funding will cover the balance of the cost of a $142,750 plan, including new cameras and an automated emergency alert system.<\/p>\n<p>District Technology Director Mike Armitage said Stanley Security Solutions was chosen to implement the security, noting the business was chosen stemming from their quality of work.<\/p>\n<p>Armitage said the improvements will be on-going process, and would not be completed in a year.<\/p>\n<p>The board voted unanimously to spend the $110,000 and apply the grant.<\/p>\n<p>Other items approved by the school board included:<\/p>\n<p>A review of the preliminary 2013-2014 schoo year budget..<\/p>\n<p>The school board approved hiring Brian Edens as a Gifted and Talented Program teacher and Elise Naber as a part-time elementary music teacher.<\/p>\n<p>Also approved was accepting the resignation of Arnie Falk as Jamestown High School, head girls varsity track coach, at the conclusion of the 2012-2013 school year.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was recorded by CSi 10 THE REPLAY CHANNEL, with showing starting on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>From Wes Anderson<\/p>\n<p>Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; Construction continues at the Stutsman County Memorial Museum grounds, on a replica a landmark from Jamestown\u2019s past.<\/p>\n<p>A gazebo, 20 feet tall, by 18 and a half feet wide, is a replica of the gazebo that once stood by the downtown railroad tracks and depot, being built according to photos.<\/p>\n<p>The original gazebo built in 1893, was located in a park currently parking lots immediately across First Street, East from the All Vets Club, and was sold for scrap in 1914.<\/p>\n<p>Museum Curator, Alden Kollman says funds for financing for the project have been raised\u2026..$18,400 which includes $5,000 from the Jamestown Community Fund, $5,000 from the local Rotary clubs, $5,000 from the district Rotary clubs and about $3,400 collected at the Millennium All School Reunion.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. (AP) &#8211; A Bismarck woman accused of leaving four children home alone in an apartment where fire started has pleaded not guilty to child abuse or neglect. Thirty-year-old Viola Grinnell could face up to five years in prison, if convicted. Emergency officials who responded to Grinnell&#8217;s apartment on May 11th say they found the children and a large amount of smoke.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) &#8211; A state district judge has rejected a plea agreement reached between prosecutors and members of a rural Lakota family involved in a summer-long standoff with law enforcement in 2011. Rodney Brossart and four of his children are now scheduled for trial in November. They face felony charges stemming from the standoff that began as an investigation into missing cattle and intensified when family members ignored repeated orders to appear in court.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s U.S. senators are calling for quick action by authorities investigating the death of a 3-year-old girl on the Spirit Lake Reservation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The FBI has called the death &#8220;mysterious&#8221; but hasn&#8217;t released details, citing the ongoing investigation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sen. Heidi Heitkamp\u00a0says \u00a0she&#8217;s deeply concerned another child might have fallen victim to a child protection system on the reservation that she says is clearly broken. An aide for Sen. Sharp reported that revenue for the current biennium totaled $4.95 billion through May.
