(UJ<\/a>) The road team emerged victorious in both of this weekend’s games between the University of Jamestown and Minot State University.<\/p>\n

Friday<\/strong> the Jimmies came away with a 6-5 victory in Minot, while the Beavers responded with a 3-2 win in Jamestown Saturday.<\/p>\n

In the series opener, UJ led 3-1 after the first period on goals by Tyler Chavez-Leech<\/a> (SR\/Red Deer, Alberta), Logan Berggren<\/a> (FR\/Cypress, Calif.), and Quin Garrison<\/a> (SO\/Prince George, British Columbia). Marquez Ginger<\/a> (FR\/Augusta, Ga.), Berggren, Chavez-Leech, Carter Johnson<\/a> (JR\/Meeteetse, Wyo.), and Jordon Kromm<\/a> (FR\/Calgary, Alberta) all had assists in the period.<\/p>\n

Garrison tallied a second goal, assisted by Johnson,\u00a0to open the second period, making it 4-1 Jimmies. Minot State answered just under three minutes later, cutting the lead to 4-2.<\/p>\n

Minot State got the first goal of the third period, making it a one-goal game. Jed Butler<\/a> (FR\/Mazama, Wash.) (from Wade Auger<\/a> (JR\/Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan))\u00a0and Jason Richter<\/a> (SR\/Kimberley, British Columbia) (from Reid Wilson<\/a> (FR\/Castlegar, British Columbia)) would score 18 seconds apart to put Jamestown ahead 6-3.<\/p>\n

The Beavers made things interesting with a pair of goals in the final 3:39 but UJ held on for the win.<\/p>\n

Tyson Brouwer<\/a> (SR\/Lethbridge, Alberta) had 24 saves in goal. The Jimmies outshot the Beavers 34-29.<\/p>\n

Minot State needed just 2:21 to take an early lead Saturday<\/strong> in Jamestown. The 1-0 lead would hold until the 2:19 mark of the third, when Hunter Maximnuk<\/a> (FR\/Heritage Point, Alberta) took a Wade Auger<\/a> pass and tied the game.<\/p>\n

The Beavers retook the lead at the 14:21 mark of the third, but Andrew Clark<\/a> (FR\/Spokane, Wash.) tied the game at 18:21 on a pass from Marquez Ginger<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With 26 seconds left, Minot State would find the eventual game-winner, scoring a four-on-four even strength goal.<\/p>\n

Shots were 39-26 in favor of the Beavers. Brouwer had 36 saves in defeat.<\/p>\n
