BISMARCK, N.D.\u00a0 (UJ<\/a>)\u00a0 —\u00a0<\/strong>A four-goal second period helped break the game open for Marian University as they defeated the University of Jamestown Friday in pool play at the ACHA Division 2 National Tournament.<\/p>\n

The Jimmies will finish pool play Saturday with a 10:30 a.m. game against\u00a0 Williston State College.<\/p>\n

Marian led 2-0 after goals by DJ Horne at 9:34 and Zach Wilson at 13:26. Christian Jarmusz<\/a> (FR\/Amherst, N.Y.) got Jamestown on the board with an unassisted goal at 15:56.<\/p>\n

Four goals by the Sabres in the second period over a span of 10 minutes and 27 pushed the lead to 6-1 and put UJ in a huge hole. Leading 3-1, Marian tallied two shorthanded goals while killing off a bench minor penalty for too many men on the ice.<\/p>\n

An unassisted goal by Josh Hoffman<\/a> (FR\/McMurray, Penna.) at 15:32 ended the run of four straight Marian goals and made it 6-2 heading into the intermission.<\/p>\n

Chris Wracker<\/a> (FR\/Columbia, S.C.)’s power-play goal\u00a0cut the lead to three at 8:22 of the third with an assist by Lukas Brockman<\/a> (FR\/Elk River, Minn.). However, Marian found the back of the net twice more, once at 12:40 and another at 15:00 to put away the game.<\/p>\n

Jimmy Grosklaus<\/a> (JR\/Colorado Springs, Colo.) had 41 saves for the Jimmies, who were outshot 49-25. Marian was 3-for-7 on the power play while Jamestown was 1-for-6.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
