{"id":224341,"date":"2021-04-27T09:58:41","date_gmt":"2021-04-27T14:58:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=224341"},"modified":"2021-04-27T09:58:41","modified_gmt":"2021-04-27T14:58:41","slug":"2021-runnin-o-the-green-preliminary-figures-are-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=224341","title":{"rendered":"2021 Runnin&#8217; O&#8217; The Green preliminary figures are in"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-67878\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Runnin2015ElksThanks-300x202.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Runnin2015ElksThanks-300x202.png 300w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Runnin2015ElksThanks-259x175.png 259w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Runnin2015ElksThanks.png 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The 42<sup>nd<\/sup> Annual 2021 Runnin O\u2019 The Green fundraiser through Jamestown on April 17 had 975 Runners.<\/p>\n<p>Larry Knoblich along with the Jamestown Elks Club reorganized this year\u2019s event, in keeping with COVID-19 safety in mind.<\/p>\n<p>Larry says the 975 runners compares to an average of 1,000 to 1,500 runners in past years when the event was held closer to St. Patrick\u2019s Day, and before the COVID-19 pandemic issue, may have lessened the amount of participants this year.<\/p>\n<p>He says so far, with three pubs to yet report their numbers, $27,000 has been raised.<\/p>\n<p>He added that each year the first $10,000 raised goes to Jamestown\u2026and area\u2026 cancer patients, and $10,000 is earmarked for the Elks Camp Grassick.\u00a0 He says the goal is to donate $20,000 to Camp Grassick.<\/p>\n<p>Larry pointed out that since 2009, 184 checks have been given to cancer patients.<\/p>\n<p>Larry will have more dollar amounts and the final totals when all pubs have reported.<\/p>\n<p>He has set March 19, 2022, as the next Runnin O\u2019 the green in Jamestown, closer to St. Paddy\u2019s Day, on March 17.\u00a0 He said although earlier next year, the date is more traditional to the annual event, being held.\u00a0 He added that even though \u00a0to be held in March, the weather can be nice then as well.<\/p>\n<p>Previously\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Jamestowm\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Organizer, Larry Knoblic says, more participants than anticipated ran and walked in the 2021 Runnin O\u2019 the Green, Saturday in Jamestown, estimated at around one-thousand, by Jamestown Police.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s compared to 1,500 the last time the run was held in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Several arrests were made, ranging from minor incidents to more serious ones.<\/p>\n<p>More information is forthcoming.<\/p>\n<p>The annual fundraising event gives donations to the Elk\u2019s Camp Grassick and local cancer patients.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s run was postponed about a month due to the COVID-19 pandemic and making changes for safety precautions.<\/p>\n<p>It was\u00a0 decided in 2o20 to cancel the event after postponements out of concerns with growing positive COVID-19 cases in line with mitigation efforts being stepped up, and before vaccines became available.<\/p>\n<p><strong>53 Photos Online at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/media\/set\/?vanity=TheReplayChannel&amp;set=a.10159115518979512\">Facebook.com\/TheReplayChannel\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The 42nd Annual 2021 Runnin O\u2019 The Green fundraiser through Jamestown on April 17 had 975 Runners.
