{"id":224495,"date":"2021-04-28T16:56:22","date_gmt":"2021-04-28T21:56:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=224495"},"modified":"2021-04-28T21:35:45","modified_gmt":"2021-04-29T02:35:45","slug":"results-of-wed-emergency-siren-testing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=224495","title":{"rendered":"Results of Weds Emergency Siren Testing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 A county wide tornado exercise was held Weds\u00a0as part of Severe Summer Weather Awareness Week.\u00a0 The exercise simulated what occurs locally when a tornado warning is issued by the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n<p>County Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist says, the goal of the exercise was to test the Communications Center\u2019s internal notification procedures county-wide including the testing of area community siren systems.\u00a0 The siren systems for Jamestown, Buchanan, Cleveland, Medina and Streeter were tested.\u00a0 Except for the City of Streeter, all siren systems proved to be operational and ready for the summer weather season.\u00a0 Streeter officials were made aware of the siren malfunction.<\/p>\n<p>Because the National Weather Service did not send out \u201cofficial tornado warning tones\u201d as part of the simulation, their all-hazards weather radio system did <u>not<\/u> activate.\u00a0 In addition, the Emergency Alert System (EAS) for AM\/FM radio stations and cable TV providers was <u>not<\/u> activated. However, cable interrupt systems were tested manually.\u00a0 In addition, the Stutsman Alerts notification system powered by Everbridge was also <u>not<\/u> activated for this test.<\/p>\n<p>The Stutsman Alerts system allows individuals to sign up for immediate notification of up to six different weather warnings including tornado, thunderstorm, flood, flash flood, winter storm and blizzard.\u00a0 To sign up for Stutsman Alerts, go to the Stutsman County webpage at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.co.stutsman.nd.us\">www.co.stutsman.nd.us<\/a> and click on the Stutsman Alerts window.\u00a0 Choose to receive weather warnings via land-line telephones, cellphones (optional text messaging) and email.\u00a0 Stutsman Alerts is a no-cost way to receive immediate weather warnings, but registration including a Stutsman County street address is required to utilize the service.\u00a0 For those needing assistance to register, contact Stutsman County Emergency Management at 701-252-9093.<\/p>\n<table width=\"100%\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>County Commissioners<\/strong><br \/>\nMark T.
