SIOUX CITY, Iowa\u00a0\u00a0 (UJ<\/a>)\u00a0 \u2013<\/strong> The two brackets for the 2021 Cypress Risk Management Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Postseason Baseball Tournaments are set.\u00a0 Top seed, and regular season co-champion, Concordia will serve as one bracket host (1,4,5,8 seeds), while second seed, and regular season co-champion, Doane will be the other bracket host (2,3,6,7 seeds) for the two four-team tournaments.<\/p>\n

Jamestown is the number six seed in the Doane bracket and will face third-seeded Mount Marty (S.D.) University on Thursday\u00a0 May 6, in Crete, Neb., at noon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tournament play will open on Thursday, May 6, at both bracket locations.\u00a0 In Seward, Nebraska, the Concordia Bracket will host Morningside, Briar Cliff, and Hastings.\u00a0 In Crete, Nebraska, the Doane Bracket will host Mount Marty, Jamestown, and Northwestern.\u00a0 Games will continue on Friday, May 7, with the bracket championship games on Saturday, May 8.\u00a0 The Concordia and Doane bracket winners will meet on Tuesday, May 11, in the GPAC Baseball Tournament Championship Game presented by Cypress Risk Management.\u00a0 The final game will be a single nine-inning contest at the highest remaining seed.<\/p>\n

Concordia has secured the league’s first berth to the NAIA Opening Round, while the GPAC Tournament Champion will receive the second berth.\u00a0 If Concordia wins the GPAC Tournament then the regular season co-champion (Doane) will receive the second GPAC berth to the NAIA Opening Round.<\/p>\n

All games in the GPAC Tournament are nine innings (with no 10-run rule) and the two brackets will be double elimination.\u00a0 The overall GPAC Baseball Championship Game is a winner take all contest (9 innings) regardless of prior records in bracket play.\u00a0 GPAC tie-breakers were used in the seeding process.<\/p>\n
