He was one of eight defensive lineman to receive All-American honors.<\/p>\n<p>VCSU linebacker <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/5\/3446\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/5\/3446\" data-original-title=\"\">Sal Avila<\/a> was named Honorable Mention All-American on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.naia.org\/sports\/fball\/2020-21\/releases\/2020-21_FootballAA\">View the complete All-America Team<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A native of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Jones received the 2nd Team honor after recording 51 tackles in VCSU&#8217;s seven games this season. He also had four sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss. Jones is a two-time First Team All-Conference selection in the North Star Athletic Association. He plans to return next year for his final season of eligibility.<\/p>\n<p>Avila, a junior from El Paso, Texas, was the NSAA Defensive Player of the Year after recording 70 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss over VCSU&#8217;s seven games.<\/p>\n<p>The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams for all five divisions of college football.
