Frequently Asked Questions<\/strong>:<\/span>

1.<\/span> If my child <\/span>or staff <\/span>has <\/span>COVID<\/span>–<\/span>19, will they be required to isolate from school?<\/span>
Yes, any student or staff<\/span> that has <\/span>COVID<\/span>–<\/span>19 (or symptoms) will be <\/span>restricted from school and\/or activities. We\u00a0 <\/span>will continue to follow CDC recommendations of 10 days of isolation from day of symptoms or negative test after\u00a0 <\/span>7 days.<\/span>

2.<\/span> Will we know if a positive case has been identified in the classroom, school or team?<\/span>
Yes<\/span>, your school principal and\/or AD will be notifying parents\/guardians via email as soon as possible for students\u00a0 <\/span>in the classroom, grade level, or team if a positive case has been identified.<\/span>

3.<\/span> Will my child <\/span>or staff <\/span>be required to quarantine if they are identified <\/span>as a close contact?<\/span>
No, at this time we will not be requiring any student or sta<\/span>ff <\/span>to quarantine if they have been identified as a close\u00a0 <\/span>contact. We advise all individuals to self<\/span>–<\/span>monitor<\/span> (parents\/guardians to monitor young children)<\/span> for <\/span>COVID<\/span>\u00a0 symp<\/span>toms.<\/span>

4.<\/span> If my child has been identified as a close contact<\/span> at school<\/span>, can parents choose to quarantine their student(s)\u00a0 <\/span>or send the student to school with a mask?<\/span>
Yes and yes<\/span>;<\/span> we will honor parents\u2019 choice to keep students at home if they have been identifi<\/span>ed as a close contact\u00a0 <\/span>in the classroom, school, or on a team. We will also support parents\u2019 choice to send their child to school with a <\/span>
mask.<\/span>

5.<\/span> What about being identified as a close contact outside of school? Can I still keep them at home without\u00a0 <\/span>conseque<\/span>nces from the school?<\/span>
We recognize that <\/span>students and staff may be identified as a close contacts outside of the school. While <\/span>they<\/span> will\u00a0 <\/span>not be required to quarantine, we ask that all individuals self<\/span>–<\/span>monitor for <\/span>COVID<\/span> symptoms. Parents\/guardians <\/span>
will <\/span>not be required to contact the school to notify us that your child is a close contact<\/span> unless you are deciding <\/span>to\u00a0 <\/span>quarantine student(s) at home<\/span>. If your child will be quarantined at home, you should contact the school,<\/span> so we can\u00a0 <\/span>arrange educational plans with the teachers.<\/span>

6.<\/span> If my child is at home because of <\/span>COVID<\/span>–<\/span>19 or parents choose to quarantine them due to being a close\u00a0 <\/span>contact, will the teachers and school help connect them with the classroom like last school year?<\/span>
Yes, Valley City Public Schools will ensure that all students that are unable to be in the classroom will continue to\u00a0 <\/span>be connected with their teachers and classes. <\/span>

7.<\/span> Will Valley City Public Schools be meeting with students, staff, and parents in advisory meetings like last\u00a0 <\/span>school year?<\/span>
Yes, Valley City Public Schools will be meeting with students, staff, and parents in advis<\/span>ory meetings to listen and\u00a0 <\/span>receive input about the school year and our continuity of services plan. <\/span>Superintendent<\/span> Johnson will be <\/span>

The Valley City Public Sch<\/span>ool <\/span>Board<\/span> will be responsible for changing and\/or updating the continuity of services\u00a0 <\/span>plan. <\/span>Valley City Public Schools will notify all students, staff, and parents\/guardians of any changes with our <\/span>
continuity of services plan via email, school website, and social media as soon as possible after changes have been made.
