{"id":233673,"date":"2021-09-02T17:30:02","date_gmt":"2021-09-02T22:30:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=233673"},"modified":"2021-09-03T13:06:56","modified_gmt":"2021-09-03T18:06:56","slug":"picture-returns-to-historic-franklin-marion-fairles-library","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=233673","title":{"rendered":"Picture returns to Historic Franklin School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/MarionFairlesLibrary445.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-233697\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/MarionFairlesLibrary445-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"181\" height=\"181\" \/><\/a>A picture given to the Franklin School &#8220;<em>Marion Fairles Library<\/em>&#8221; by former Principal Marion Fairles returned home to Historic Franklin Thursday September 2.<\/p>\n<p>Miss Fairles was Principal at Franklin School from 1924 to 1964.\u00a0 During the Bicentennial Program held April 30, 1976,\u00a0 the picture, titled &#8220;Three Reading Girls&#8221;*, was presented by Miss Fairles to then Principal Mr. Jacob Wolf, Jr as a gift to the school library.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Notes of the gift information were written on the back.<\/p>\n<p>After the school closed in 2000,\u00a0 the picture was purchased at a school district auction by Roni Berg.\u00a0 \u00a0Berg (pictured) was a teacher at Franklin School from 1990 to 1999.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/ThreeReadingGirls1-445.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-233699\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/ThreeReadingGirls1-445-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/ThreeReadingGirls1-445-300x202.jpg 300w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/ThreeReadingGirls1-445-260x175.jpg 260w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/ThreeReadingGirls1-445.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Flash forward to today,\u00a0 Roni contacted Historic Franklin wanting to donate the picture to Historic Franklin School,\u00a0 where she thought it should hang.<\/p>\n<p>According to Historic Franklin School &#8220;principal&#8221;, Roy Sheppard,\u00a0 the picture will hang in the room that was last used as the Marion Fairles Library.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We can&#8217;t thank Roni enough for the thoughtful gift to add to the history of the school, &#8221; said Sheppard.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone that might have artifacts from Franklin that they might want to donate or loan are encouraged to contact the school at 252-2400.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Three Reading Girls&#8221; picture was a reproduction made by BelArt Co of Kenyon, Minn.
