News Jul 22, 2013) &#8212; Southeast District Court Judge, Thomas Merrick has postponed a hearing for a Jamestown man, on an attempted murder charge, pending the availability of an interpreter, familiar with the Somali Language.<\/p>\n<p>Ahmed Muse, is accused of using a large knife or machete in an attack on Abdirizak Nur that allegedly occurred in Jamestown on June 8, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Muse is also charged with aggravated assault in the same incident.<\/p>\n<p>In court, Muse said he did not want an attorney represent him in the proceedings, and asked for an interpreter and that person not be a Somali.<\/p>\n<p>Muse did not enter a plea during the proceedings but said he is innocence.<\/p>\n<p>Muse remains in custody at the Stutsman County Correctional Center, with bond set at $100,000.<\/p>\n<p>The attempted murder charge is a Class A felony while the aggravated assault charge is a Class C felony.<\/p>\n<p>A Class A felony is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and $10,000 in fines. A Class C felony is punishable by five years in prison and $5,000 in fines.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; Jamestown Police is asking anyone who purchased items from Tara Bauer, of Jamestown to contact police<\/p>\n<p>The 40 year old Bauer is accused of stealing items in early June this year, from the Jamestown Walmart store and using her children to sell the stolen property.<\/p>\n<p>Bauer is suspected of selling some of the items in &#8220;rummage sales&#8221; pages on social media web sites.<\/p>\n<p>Police believe Bauer was working alone in the thefts.<\/p>\n<p>Bauer , is charged with theft of property, a Class C felony; dealing in stolen property, a Class B felony; and child neglect or abuse, a Class C felony.<\/p>\n<p>She is scheduled to appear in Southeast District Court August 12, 2013 for a preliminary hearing and or arraignment on the charges. She remains is free on bond.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who purchased any items from Bauer or has information about items she allegedly stole is asked to call 252-2414 and speak to Corporal Nick Hardy.<\/p>\n<p>The maximum penalty for a Class B felony is 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. It\u2019s a fun time, and you get to meet new people at one of the biggest events in Jamestown.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Last year\u2019s Block Party grew to more than 80 booths with more than 3,000 people attending. Entertainment includes inflatable games, worm mobile, food, prize drawings, dunk tank, contests, free giveaways and more.<\/p>\n<p>Co-Chair Lisa Hicks of the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce says, &#8220;This event introduces the community to the wonderful students who attend Jamestown College year after year. It also helps promote relationships between the community and businesses.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>All first-year students will attend as part of orientation activities. Upper-class students, faculty and staff will also represent Jamestown College.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown College\u2019s Director of New Student Orientation, Lori Listopad says, &#8220;We surveyed first-year students and found that a lot of them listed the Block Party as their favorite event of New Student Orientation. (AP) &#8211; A federal judge has temporarily blocked a new North Dakota law that bans abortion when a fetal heartbeat is detected &#8211; as early as six weeks into pregnancy. U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland in Bismarck granted a temporary injunction yesterday that blocks the law from taking effect on August 1st. The New York-based Center for Reproductive Rights, which is representing Fargo&#8217;s Red River Women&#8217;s Clinic, filed suit after the law was passed this year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Tioga man accused of human trafficking has pleaded not guilty.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n32-year-old Aaron Collins entered the not guilty plea to the Class A felony charge Monday in South Central District Court in Bismarck.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents say Collins allegedly made contact with a woman he believed was trafficking her underage daughters for money.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Collins&#8217; bond was set at $50,000.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 His attorney, Amanda Harris, was granted a presentence investigation report, which will look at Collins&#8217; background and whether there were extenuating circumstances involving his arrest.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Williston police say they plan to release more information today about a shooting in a Walmart parking lot last weekend. The Williston Herald reports that police received the report at about 2:30 a.m. Friday. Police have not released the wounded woman&#8217;s name or the extent of her injuries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The military has an identified an airman killed following a shooting incident at the Grand Forks Air Force Base.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Air Force says Technical Sgt. Matthew Hullman died following the shooting incident Sunday at the base.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The incident remains under investigation. Air force officials say there is no threat to the communities on or near the base.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Air Force says the case remains under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A man has been sentenced to three years in prison for inappropriately touching a sleeping woman who was renting a room to him in Bismarck.<\/p>\n<p>47-year-old Adolfo Ramirez pleaded guilty to felony gross sexual imposition.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities say the victim and her husband had let Ramirez stay in their home after he told them he had nowhere to go.<\/p>\n<p>Defense attorney Rob Quick says alcohol factored into Ramirez&#8217;s actions and that his client needs to receive treatment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GRAFTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A state senator from northeastern North Dakota has pleaded guilty to alcohol-related driving charges.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nJoe Miller appeared in Monday state district court in Grafton.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 30-year-old Park River Republican says he waived his right to trial because he knows he should not have been drinking and driving.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Miller was pulled over around 2:30 a.m. June 21 for speeding near Park River. His blood-alcohol content was 0.13 percent.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Miller was charged with speeding, having an open container of alcohol and being in actual physical control of a motor vehicle while over the legal blood-alcohol limit of 0.08.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; An appeals court has upheld the conviction of a North Dakota man accused of illegally obtaining federal benefits.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A jury in January 2012 found Justin Yankton, of Fort Totten, guilty of embezzlement and theft from a tribal organization. He was sentenced to probation and ordered to pay $6,000 in restitution and fines.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Yankton is the former secretary-treasurer of the Spirit Lake Tribal Council.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Brooke Black, who shared a residence with Yankton and their children, pleaded guilty one day after Yankton was convicted.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Yankton had argued in his complaint to the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that there was insufficient evidence to support the conviction.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D.
