{"id":236593,"date":"2021-10-09T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-10-09T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=236593"},"modified":"2021-10-11T11:31:00","modified_gmt":"2021-10-11T16:31:00","slug":"mabel-enger-oct-10-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=236593","title":{"rendered":"Mabel Enger &#8211; Sunday October 10, 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mabel Enger, 90, Valley City, ND passed away at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City on October 10, 2021.\u00a0 Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 16 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Valley City.\u00a0 A time for visiting and fellowship will be held at the church from noon until 2:00 PM on Saturday.\u00a0 She will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery, Sanborn, ND.\u00a0 The funeral service will be live streamed then archived and available to view along with her obituary at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lerudschuldt.com\/\">www.lerudschuldt.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mabel Emily Schwanke was born just north of Valley City, ND to Frederick and Louise (Reitze) Schwanke.\u00a0 She often spoke of being sent to her grandmother\u2019s house to help cook for the threshers.\u00a0 She always enjoyed hearing farmers talk of their crops and harvest.\u00a0 In her teen years, her family moved into Valley City, and she attended and graduated from College High.\u00a0 She worked until her marriage at Ernie\u2019s Caf\u00e9, Checker Lunch, and National Foods.<\/p>\n<p>She married Hartvick Enger, November 6, 1955.\u00a0 They farmed for 30 years in Meadow Lake Township, raising cattle, pigs, and small grain crops.\u00a0 The couple was blessed with 3 daughters.\u00a0 Mabel worked at Washington Elementary School in Valley City for 25 years, retiring to babysit Judy\u2019s children.<\/p>\n<p>Mabel was a strong woman of faith, always serving her church and her family.\u00a0 She was raised at Trinity Lutheran Church then became a member of Our Savior\u2019s Lutheran Church.\u00a0 She loved being outside working in her flower gardens.\u00a0 She was a wonderful cook and baker.\u00a0 Although of German ethnicity, she made the best lefse, krumkake, and sandbakkels.<\/p>\n<p>She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lorna (Karmen) Miller and Gladys (Melloy) Larson; brother, Melvin Schwanke; her husband; and a daughter, Linda Muellenberg.<\/p>\n<p>Mabel is survived by her daughters, Carol (Ralph) Smith of Havana, ND and Judy (Dan) Anderson of Valley City; grandchildren, Brittany (Tyler) Butler, Sarah (Kyle) Rzaszutak, Nadine Smith, Stephanie (Colton) Kellen, Breanna and Kimberly Muellenberg, Alison and Mark Anderson; and her great grandchildren, Melanie and Lucas Butler and Leighton, Jameson, Drake, and Rowan Rzaszutak.<\/p>\n<p>Lerud Mathias Funeral Home in Valley City is assisting Mabel\u2019s family with arrangements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mabel Enger, 90, Valley City, ND passed away at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City on October 10, 2021.\u00a0 Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 16 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Valley City.\u00a0 A time for visiting and fellowship will be held at the church from [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":236594,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[26],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-236593","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-obits"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/236593","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=236593"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/236593\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":236618,"href":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/236593\/revisions\/236618"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/media\/236594"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=236593"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=236593"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=236593"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
