Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Jul 26, 2013) — Interstate Engineering in Jamestown is informing the public of the updated scheduled of work, with the Jamestown sanitary sewer project.<\/p>\n

Construction is expected to start the week of July 29,l2013, on 3rd<\/sup> Ave NW from 9th<\/sup> St NW to 6th<\/sup> St NW.<\/p>\n

Motorists should expect road closures in this area starting Tuesday, July 30, 2013.<\/p>\n

Crews are expected to begin work in the area of 3rd Ave NW and 5th Street NW on Tuesday, July 30, 2013.<\/p>\n

During this time, 3rd Ave NW will be closed in the area of 5th Street NW. There may be a partial lane closure on 5th Street NW. However, 5th Street NW will remain open.<\/p>\n

At Historic Franklin School, home for CSi, the project will border the entire south side and east side. When the east side is closed to traffic, visitors and customers can enter through the south entrance, or enter the parking lot from 4th<\/sup> Avenue Southwest, to be able to access the elevator entrance.<\/p>\n

Motorists are asked to slow down in construction areas, use caution and watch for workers and equipment.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The Jamestown City Council met in Special Session Friday morning (Jul 26, 2013) to approve the Second Reading of several Ordinances.<\/p>\n

The Ordinances were originally scheduled to be recommended for approval at the Thursday Police Committee meeting, however, Mayor Katie Andersen said any changes in the Second Reading of the Ordinances that was then planned for the August 5th City Council meeting would not take effect until seven days after the ordinances were published after the meeting or about August 14th, and by holding the special meeting Friday morning, the Ordinances will take effect on about August 6th.<\/p>\n

Specifically the Ordinance concerning fines for passing a school bus was re-written.<\/p>\n

All the Ordinance updates were made to come under compliance with state laws, that were approved by the 2013 State Legislature.<\/p>\n

Concerning Ordinance No. 1401 to amend Sec. 1-9 of the City Code pertaining to general penalties to increase<\/p>\n

the maximum fine for a class B misdemeanor to an amount not to exceed one thousand five hundred dollars<\/p>\n

($1,500.00).<\/p>\n

2) Concerning Ordinance No. 1402 to amend Sec. 2-58.1 (Sec. 2-57 more appropriate per Assistant City Attorney)<\/p>\n

of the City Code pertaining to mandatory evacuations gives authority to the mayor to order a mandatory<\/p>\n

evacuation of the city after a proclamation of a civil emergency or local disaster is made.<\/p>\n

3) Concerning Ordinance No. 1403 to amend Sec. 2-59 of the City Code pertaining to the possession, use, carrying,<\/p>\n

transfer, transportation, storage, or display of firearms during declared emergencies.<\/p>\n

4) Concerning Ordinance No. 1404 to add Sec. 2-61 of the City Code pertaining to the possession, use, carrying,<\/p>\n

transfer, transportation, storage, or display of firearms during declared emergencies.<\/p>\n

5) Concerning Ordinance No. 1405 to amend Sec. 15-33 of the City Code pertaining to the time and place of sale of<\/p>\n

fireworks to allow additional dates for fireworks to be sold and used on December 26th through January 1st .<\/p>\n

6) Concerning Ordinance No. 1406 to amend Sec. 21-02-10 of the City Code pertaining to the classification and<\/p>\n

disposition of traffic offenses to increase the fine for overtaking or passing a school bus from fifty dollars<\/p>\n

($50.00) to one hundred dollars ($100.00) and adds a one hundred dollar ($100.00) fine for permitting operation<\/p>\n

of a motor vehicle that overtakes or passes a school bus.<\/p>\n

\u00a0(Per Assistant City Attorney \u2013upon review of other<\/p>\n

legislative action–there were multiple changes which need to be addressed relative to this section.)<\/p>\n

7) Concerning Ordinance No. 1407 to amend Sec. 21-03-16 of the City Code pertaining to operation of authorized<\/p>\n

emergency motor vehicles to allow fire trucks and ambulances to display flashing blue lights in cases of a<\/p>\n

reported emergency involving a possible personal injury, death, or property damage in addition to red and\/or<\/p>\n

white lights.<\/p>\n

8) Concerning Ordinance No. 1408 to amend Sec. 21-04-05 of the City Code pertaining to driving while license is<\/p>\n

suspended or revoked to allow a charge under this section to be dismissed on the motion of the defendant if his<\/p>\n

license is reinstated within sixty days of the offense and he provides satisfactory evidence to the court proving<\/p>\n

the reinstatement.<\/p>\n

9) Concerning Ordinance No. 1409 to amend Sec. 21-04-06 of the City Code pertaining to driving under the<\/p>\n

influence of intoxicating liquor, drugs or other substances to include additional restrictions on who may not<\/p>\n

drive or be in actual physical control of any vehicle and to increase the minimum mandatory sentence for a first<\/p>\n

and second offense under this section and include additional penalties.<\/p>\n

10) Concerning Ordinance No. 1410 to amend Sec. 21-04-17 of the City Code pertaining to driving without liability<\/p>\n

insurance to allow an individual charged with the offense to provide proof of insurance through written or<\/p>\n

electronic means. Removes the twenty (20) day time limitation to provide proof of insurance to the officer and<\/p>\n

now requires that proof be made to the court. Amends the offense from a class B misdemeanor to an infraction<\/p>\n

and requires that upon a second conviction any impounded motor vehicle plates be delivered to the court, who<\/p>\n

will then deliver them to the arresting police officer.<\/p>\n

11) Concerning Ordinance No. 1411 to amend Sec. 21-08-01 of the City Code pertaining to immediate notice of<\/p>\n

accidents to reduce the fine for a violation under this section from one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) to fifty<\/p>\n

dollars ($50.00) and exempts a driver involved in an accident with an undomesticated animal from the<\/p>\n

mandatory reporting provision when the only property damage is to the driver\u2019s vehicle.<\/p>\n

12) Concerning Ordinance No. 1412 to amend Sec. 21-14-04 of the City Code pertaining to permits for vehicles of<\/p>\n

excessive size and weight to allow permits issued for vehicles of excessive size and weight travelling on nonpermitted<\/p>\n

city streets to display the permit in printed or electronic format.<\/p>\n

13) Concerning Ordinance No. 1413 to amend Sec. 22-15.1 of the City Code pertaining to carrying loaded firearms in<\/p>\n

vehicle and allowing individuals with a valid concealed weapons permit to carry a loaded firearm in a vehicle.<\/p>\n

14) Concerning Ordinance No. 1414 to amend Sec. 22-44.2 of the City Code pertaining to the offense of theft to<\/p>\n

increase the threshold for class B misdemeanor thefts to five hundred dollars ($500.00).<\/p>\n

15) Concerning Ordinance No. 1415 to amend Sec. 22-49.1 of the City Code pertaining to possession of firearms at public gatherings and now allowing individuals possessing a class 1 concealed weapons license to carry their<\/p>\n

firearm in a church or place of worship with the approval of the primary religious leader and allowing an instructor, a test administrator, an official, or a participant in educational, training, cultural or competitive events to possess a firearm at a public gathering.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Jul 24, 2013 \u2014 The evening of July 27, the<\/p>\n

Zombie Crawl starts with registration at 8-p.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Jamestown. The event will also raise funds for the James River Humane Society, and Prairie Paws Rescue.<\/p>\n

Registration is $10.<\/p>\n

This year. the majority of the proceeds will go to The James River Humane Society and the balance going to Prairie Paws Rescue.<\/p>\n

Next year the plan is to hold another Zombie Crawl with the majority of the proceeds going to Prairie Paws Rescue, and the balance to The James River Humane Society.<\/p>\n

The event is similar to a pub crawl held in Fargo.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday\u2019s (Jul 24, 2013) Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Zombie Crawl creators Johnny Jerome and Joel Grant said participants are in “zombie” costumes going from bar to bar similar to Runnin\u2019 O\u2019 The Green in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

T-shirts are available at The Corner Bar, and Leon\u2019s Bridal for $15 with the proceeds also going to The James River Humane Society, and Prairie Paws Rescue.<\/p>\n

The Zombie Crawl starts at the registration point, the Knight\u2019s of Columbus Hall, and continues to The Office Bar, then to Shady\u2019s at the Gladstone Inn & Suites, the Wonder Bar and concludes at The Corner Bar.<\/p>\n

About $3,000 in prizes for the crawl, have been donated by businesses and organization, who are listed on the back of the T-shirts\u2026. including Twins Tickets, and Mall of America Passes.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Jul 24, 2013) \u2014 This Saturday, July 27, 2013 the annual Hogs for Dogs motorcycle ride will raise dollars for the James River Humane Society.<\/p>\n

The activities start with a breakfast at Stutsman Harley Davidson with registration at 9:30 a.m., which is open to the public, along with the hamburger grill out.<\/p>\n

The riders leave at 11-a.m. on 180-mile motorcycle trip, rain or shine.<\/p>\n

The registration fee is $20 per motorcycle.<\/p>\n

The public may also bring a cat or dog food donation to place in the kennel near the door at the Harley-Davidson building and will entitle them to 15 percent off any item at the store, excluding motorcycles.<\/p>\n

Police, firefighters and EMT\u2019s will all be at the Cherry Berry Building off Highway 281 South, in Jamestown from 11 AM to 2 PM.<\/p>\n

Available for inspection by the public will include police vehicles, fire trucks, and an ambulance,<\/p>\n

From 11-a.m. to 2-p.m., 20-percent of all proceeds that each business in the Cherry Berry Building receives will be donated to the Emergency Services of Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The renamed “Community Music Fest,” is set for Sunday August 25, 2013, from 3-7-p.m., at Atonement Lutheran Church in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Beth Dewald of Jamestown says the event previously featured bluegrass music, however, the music will now span bluegrass, Southern Gospel and Christian Rock. Barbershop harmony will be provided by Cheaper Than Therapy of Jamestown.<\/p>\n

A free will offering will be collected with half the proceeds benefiting the Buffalo Valley Red Cross Chapter in Jamestown, and half going to the Community Action Region Six Backpack Program for children in need. Supplemental funds provided by Stutsman County Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.<\/p>\n

At the event, in addition to the music there will be BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, salads, desserts, fresh popcorn and a soda sale, plus, children\u2019s activities.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND, July 26, 2013 —<\/b> Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) Foundation held its annual GOLF “fore” GOOD tournament on Friday, July 19, <\/sup>2013 at the Jamestown Country Club with title sponsors The Davis Group, IRET Properties and Timco Construction.<\/p>\n

The proceeds from this year\u2019s tournament went to support new technology and equipment for JRMC by helping to reach the goal to purchase a DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) machine. This equipment helps support the early diagnosis of osteoporosis along with total body composition scans.<\/p>\n

More than 120 golfers enjoyed the four-person scramble tournament. The highlight of the day came when Brady Schoeler was just inches away from a hole-in-one for Wilhelm Chevrolet Buick GMC\u2019s car give-a-way on hole four.<\/p>\n

JRMC Foundation Director, Lisa Jackson says, “We could not have had a successful event without the support of our sponsors, community, vendors, staff and volunteers.<\/p>\n

The tournament raised $33,994 dollars. There were over 55 team and tournament sponsors which helped raise these funds. Over $30,000 in prizes and gift certificates were given away to the participating teams.<\/p>\n

\u00a0DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) – A man accused of negligent homicide in a hit-and-run death in Dickinson late last year now faces an additional charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving a death.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Both charges against Timothy Menges are felonies. The\u00a0 new charge filed earlier this month means he could face up to 15 years in prison rather than just five years if convicted.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Menges allegedly was driving drunk last November when he struck and killed 47-year-old Tracy Freer in a motel parking lot. Authorities say Menges struck Freer after Freer accosted him for almost running over his dog.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dalrymple says Anderson served as an assistant U.S. Attorney in North Dakota for 25 years and tried more than 100 cases before retiring in 2007.

CLEVELAND (AP) – The three women who were held captive in a Cleveland home for a decade say they are relieved that Ariel Castro has pleaded guilty to charges that will keep him in prison for life. A statement released by a law firm representing the women says they are satisfied by the resolution. Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight are continuing to ask for privacy and say they don’t want to speak publicly. Castro pleaded guilty Friday to 937 counts. Prosecutors are recommending that he be sentenced to life without parole plus 1,000 years when he’s back before a judge next Thursday.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 PHILADELPHIA (AP) – The mother of slain teenager Trayvon Martin has told a National Urban League gathering in Philadelphia to use her story, tragedy and broken heart to stop the same thing from happening to another child. Sybrina Fulton spoke today at the civil rights organization’s annual conference in Philadelphia. She supports an investigation into whether her son’s killer could be charged under federal civil rights laws. Fulton told the audience that she believes God is using her and her family to make a difference.

But the money could end up being used instead to pay for Zimmerman’s defense costs and fees. The check that the group wrote to Zimmerman is the result of the fundraising effort that was launched because the group believes his gun rights are being violated by the U.S. Department of Justice. The department has taken all of the evidence from Zimmerman’s trial, including the gun that killed Trayvon Martin, as part of a civil rights investigation.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) – National Park Service crews have been at work Friday at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, trying to remove a splash of green paint that was left on the statue of the 16th president. The apparent vandalism was discovered overnight, with paint visible on the statue, the pedestal and the floor. The memorial has been closed while crews work to remove the paint.
