News Jul 29, 2013) &#8212; Home of Economy in Jamestown, expects to open in its new, expanded location about the end of August this year.<\/p>\n<p>The store will occupy the former K-Mart location at the Buffalo Mall.<\/p>\n<p>Wade Pearson, CEO of Home of Economy, says the store will have an outside access in at the present garage door location in addition to the mall entrance.<\/p>\n<p>The store\u2019s present location in Southwest Jamestown will be closed during the move to the new mall space.<\/p>\n<p>The store\u2019s expansion will include full tire service, in the majority of the 84,000 square foot area.<\/p>\n<p>Additional employees will be a part of the new store location, and expanded hours Monday-Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. (AP) &#8211; Several North Dakota college presidents have gotten much better job reviews since the departure of the state university system chancellor.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hamid Shirvani released his evaluations to the presidents after the Board of Higher Education voted in June to buy out his contract over complaints about his management style.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The board later said Shirvani did not follow proper procedure. It placed Shirvani on administrative leave and ordered interim chancellor Larry Skogen to update the evaluations. Six of the presidents approved the original drafts by Shirvani.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Three other presidents who objected to Shirvani&#8217;s assessments got updated reviews that were mostly favorable. The review for North Dakota State University president Dean Bresciani (bruh-SHAW&#8217;-nee) was not immediately available.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u3000\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Cooler temperatures across North Dakota have been beneficial for small grains but the lack of moisture is starting to hurt all crops.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The U.S. Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop report that topsoil moisture supplies were rated 3 percent very short, 30 percent short, 58 percent adequate and 9 percent surplus.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pasture and range conditions were rated 2 percent poor, 14 percent fair, 58 percent good and 26 percent excellent.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The report says spring wheat headed was at 93 percent, near the 95 percent average. Soybean blooming was at 75 percent, below the average of 81 percent. Potatoes blooming were 86 percent, behind the 93 percent average.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sugar beet conditions were rated 2 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 31 percent fair, 49 percent good and 10 percent excellent.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Traffic accidents in Williston fell dramatically in June compared to the same time a year ago.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials in the northwestern North Dakota city have been emphasizing safety on the roads since oil patch traffic began to increase several years ago.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0 There were 113 accidents reported in the city limits in June, compared to 151 accidents in June 2012.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Traffic accidents in May were also down from the May 2012.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Not all the numbers were positive. Police say there were 35 hit-and-run accidents in June, matching the number from a year earlier.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A food pantry in the middle of the North Dakota oil patch was depleted to six cans of peas and four cans of carrots before the shelves were restocked for the weekend.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Salvation Army food shelf in Williston is the city&#8217;s main source for canned goods and nonperishable food items. It serves at least 20 families a week.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 oil boom has quadrupled the amount of people who come to the food pantry for food. The center used to serve about 25 people a week. Now the food bank sees that many people in one day.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Salvation Army officials say they receive regular donations from large grocery stores in town, but they remain in need of donations to keep the shelves stocked.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MEDORA, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A birth control experiment for wild horses in Theodore Roosevelt National Park is about to get a boost.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Researchers have been testing a contraceptive vaccine on some mares since 2009, but the success rate has been only about 50 percent.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Colorado State University research biologist Dan Baker is leading the study. He\u00a0says \u00a0for some reason, free-roaming mammals are less responsive to the vaccine than captive animals.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 During a roundup of surplus park horses in September, researchers will give treated mares a booster shot. Baker says a second dose of a vaccine typically delivers more powerful and long-lasting effects.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 If the results of the second injections are promising, the park will seek public comment on the use of the contraceptive vaccine as an alternative to roundups.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Hundreds of dancers from around the country and beyond will be in North Dakota in September for the annual United Tribes International Powwow.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The event is slated for Sept. 5-8 at United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck. The event is in its 44th year.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dancers compete for tens of thousands of dollars in prize money. Miss Indian Nations also is crowned.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The powwow is considered one of North Dakota&#8217;s premier cultural events. It attracts more than 10,000 people every year.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 This year&#8217;s featured cultural group is dancers representing the Aztec culture of central Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) &#8211; The Crazy Days shopping promotion lived up to its name in Mitchell when a dead longhorn slid from the bed of a pickup truck and onto the city&#8217;s Main Street.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police Sgt.
