News Aug 16, 2012)\u00a0 &#8212;\u00a0 Stutsman, Barnes and Dickey Counities in this area have confirmed human\u00a0cases of the West Nile Virus.<\/p>\n<p>Information from the North Dakota State Health Department show Barnes and Stutsman Counties with one human case, each.<\/p>\n<p>Dickey County had four confirmed human cases.<\/p>\n<p>LaMoure County reported one confirmed human case.<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s Health Department is<br \/>\nreporting a small surge in the number of reported cases of the West<br \/>\nNile virus.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The agency says 13 new human cases of the virus have been<br \/>\nidentified since the first one of the year was reported last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Five of the people who have been infected were put into the<br \/>\nhospital.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The virus is carried by mosquitoes.<\/p>\n<p>The Health Department&#8217;s Michelle Feist (FYST) says the West Nile virus has been relatively quiet for the last five years.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But she says the dry and hot conditions that have prevailed this summer are good for the type of mosquito that carries the illness.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Health officials say people who are outdoors between dusk anddawn should wear mosquito\u00a0 repellent and long-sleeved shirts and pants.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the link for more information about West Nile Virus.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ndhealth.gov\/WNV\/FAQ\/Default.aspx\">http:\/\/www.ndhealth.gov\/WNV\/FAQ\/Default.aspx<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Click below for the data sheet on active confirmed cases.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ndhealth.gov\/WNV\/Data\/CountyList.aspx\">http:\/\/www.ndhealth.gov\/WNV\/Data\/CountyList.aspx<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Bismarck, ND\u00a0 (KCSi-T.V.
