News Aug 16, 2012)\u00a0 Valley City\u00a0officials are\u00a0 ordering Valley City residents to limit water usage until further notice, while repairs are being made to the Master Sewage Lift Station.<\/p>\n<p>Water is safe for drinking.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Bob Werkhoven\u00a0 urges residents to refrain from using water for such purposes as showering, laundry, dish washing and flushing of toilets until further notice.<\/p>\n<p>He says\u00a0 residents downstream should not use the Sheyenne River,\u00a0as the\u00a0raw sewage is being pumped into the river, through a temporary pipe.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City officials\u00a0\u00a0are estimating the repair should completed by Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0An equipment failure at\u00a0the master lift station occurred shortly midnight, Thursday, during maintenance, \u00a0filling up the lift station with\u00a0close to\u00a030 feet of\u00a0 sewage.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0A backup system was put\u00a0on line within just a couple hours.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP&amp; KCSi-T.V. News Aug 16, 2012) \u2013 A witness testifying in the case of a Jamestown man accused of killing a Somali immigrant says the woman allegedly tried to dispose the body in his well.<\/p>\n<p>Thirty-four-year-old Leron Howard is charged with murder and criminal conspiracy in the death of 18-year-old Abdi Ali Ahmed.<\/p>\n<p>His body was found in a ditch near Spiritwood on April 30, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities say he was beaten and stabbed.<\/p>\n<p>Delmonte Jones testified Thursday that Howard and 22-year-old Janelle Cave came to his home early in the morning of April 30, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Jones says the two asked about Jones\u2019 well, saying they had a body to dispose of.<\/p>\n<p>Jones said he did not believe them and sent them away.<\/p>\n<p>Jones was also questioned by court-appointed defense attorney, Steven Mottinger about selling marijuana to Howard and Cave, to which he replied, &#8220;no.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mottinger also asked Jones about a trip he, Howard and other individuals took to Montana and if marijuana was purchased.<\/p>\n<p>Jones replied by saying the group went to buy shoes and clothes in Montana, but he could not recall the name of the city or the mall where they shopped.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday afternoon a muddy and corroded sword was introduced into evidence, with no physical evidence from the weapon.<\/p>\n<p>Other witnesses testified about clothing related to the crime that was taken into evidence by police, along with phone logs from Cave\u2019s phone that indicating calls and text messages between Cave and Howard.<\/p>\n<p>Stutsman County Deputy Jason Falk is scheduled to take the stand for cross-examination on Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p>A jury earlier convicted Cave on manslaughter and criminal conspiracy charges.<\/p>\n<p>She is serving an 11-year sentence, which is being appealed in the North Dakota Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>As part of her sentence, Cave must testify in Howard\u2019s trial.Howard\u2019s trial is continuing in Southeast District Court in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bismarck, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The NDDOT informs motorists, that the westbound Jamestown Rest Area on I-94 will be closed for maintenance work beginning the afternoon of Tuesday, August 21, 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Work will include painting of the structure and is expected to be complete in a few days weather permitting.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>KILLDEER, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities say a 39-year-old Killdeer man<br \/>\nhas been killed in a tractor accident.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Dunn County Sheriff&#8217;s Department\u00a0says \u00a0Craig Skaar died early Wednesday morning.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Craig was parking a 30-horsepower yard-type<br \/>\ntractor at his home when the accident occurred.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities say he was dismounting the tractor when he got caught by a wheel and was run over.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Au<\/p>\n<p>thorities are investigating the cause of a house fire that killed a retired Grand Forks attorney.<\/p>\n<p>Neighbors say 86-year-old Fred Arnason lived alone in the home, and relied on an oxygen tank to help him breathe.<\/p>\n<p>The state fire marshal says the fire started Tuesday night in Arnason&#8217;s kitchen.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The arrest of a West Fargo man on his 14th<br \/>\ndrunken driving charge has spurred talk among some North Dakota<br \/>\nlawmakers about how to toughen state laws against DUI.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Kevin Tegtmeier (TEG&#8217;-my-ur) pleaded not guilty on Thursday. He<br \/>\nwas arrested last month, and had a blood-alcohol content of 0.25<br \/>\npercent.<\/p>\n<p>Tegtmeier is being held in the Cass County jail on $15,000<br \/>\nbond.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota&#8217;s toughest penalty against repeat drunken driving<br \/>\noffenders is five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.<\/p>\n<p>A person who&#8217;s convicted five times in seven years is eligible for the penalty.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fargo state Sen. Authorities say he gambled with $950 in bogus bills at two<br \/>\nMinot bars on June 19.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say police identified Jones at the second bar after<br \/>\nemployees at the first bar gave a description that included a<br \/>\nswastika tattoo on his neck.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A plea agreement filed earlier this week shows that Jones plans<br \/>\nto plead guilty to both charges.<\/p>\n<p>Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s Health Department is reporting a small surge in the number of reported cases of the West Nile virus.<\/p>\n<p>The agency says 13 new human cases of the virus have been identified since the first one of the year was reported last week.<\/p>\n<p>Five of the people who have been infected were put into the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Stutsman, Barnes and Dickey Counities in this area have confirmed human\u00a0cases of the West Nile Virus.<\/p>\n<p>Information from the North Dakota State Health Department show Barnes and Stutsman Counties with one human case, each.<\/p>\n<p>Dickey County had four confirmed human cases.<\/p>\n<p>LaMoure County reported one confirmed human case.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A man who was kept off a bus because of his<br \/>\nsaggy pants is accused of hitting a bus depot worker with a<br \/>\nmagazine rack.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prosecutors in Fargo have charged 25-year-old Nigel Wakefield<br \/>\nwith aggravated assault.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The incident happened Tuesday at a south Fargo bus station.<br \/>\nTicket taker James Lovejoy told Wakefield he couldn&#8217;t get on the<br \/>\nbus because his pants were hanging so low that his underwear was<br \/>\nshowing.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say Wakefield got mad, picked up a magazine rack and hit<br \/>\nLovejoy at least three times on the right side of his head.<\/p>\n<p>Lovejoy was treated for his injuries and released.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Democratic Senate Candidate Heidi Heitkamp is<br \/>\ndenouncing as false an ad from a third-party group backed by<br \/>\nRepublican operative Karl Rove that alleges she received campaign<br \/>\ncontributions from a lawyer she hired when she was North Dakota&#8217;s<br \/>\nattorney general.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Heitkamp says the lawyer in question was never paid for his work<br \/>\nby North Dakota. She says Jack McConnell Jr. was appointed to<br \/>\nrepresent North Dakota and other states for legal action against<br \/>\ntobacco companies that she was involved in, but she says North<br \/>\nDakota never paid him during her tenure.<\/p>\n<p>McConnell and his wife donated $30,000 to Heitkamp&#8217;s 2000 failed bid for governor.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A Crossroads spokesman did not immediately respond to a request<br \/>\nfor comment.<\/p>\n<p>The group recently pulled an ad Heitkamp said was misleading but re-released it with changes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D.
