The son of Brooke and Kyle Walden, Leal, N.D., Knox weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and measured 20.5 inches tall. Dr. Stacey Roers Irmen delivered the baby at 11:48 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Also born on that day was Knox\u2019s cousin in Oregon. Though the family welcomed both infants with joy, they also mourned a loss. Knox\u2019s great-grandmother Delores Demars passed away the same day \u2013 in the early hours of the morning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Knox was born, he needed oxygen to support his breathing. We think Kyle\u2019s grandmother was looking out for him,\u201d Brooke said. \u201cShe had two great-grandchildren on the day she passed away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe New Year\u2019s baby symbolizes a fresh start and rebirth,\u201d said JRMC Family BirthPlace Manager Emily Woodley. \u201cWe always look forward to welcoming these little ones to the community. Knox\u2019s story gives us goosebumps.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, JRMC delivered 331 babies, compared to 319 babies in 2020 and 328 in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Knox\u2019s parents as well as big sister Blake, 2, are excited to bring him home. The name \u201cKnox\u201d begins with the same letter as Kyle, just like big sister\u2019s first initial is the same as Brooke\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did that on purpose,\u201d Brooke said, saying both she and Blake have November birthdays and Kyle and Knox have January birthdays.<\/p>\n<p>Knox\u2019s middle name comes from a deceased family friend, Brooke said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought that would be a good way to honor the memory of \u2018Uncle\u2019 Bryan,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The couple say they hope for what most parents want for their children \u2013 health and happiness.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about delivering at JRMC, visit www.jrmcnd.com\/moms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Jamestown Regional Medical Center<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jamestown Regional Medical Center in Jamestown, N.D. serves 55,000 people in nine counties.
