This recognition program honors performance among the nation’s rural hospitals based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX™.

“Awards like this are why JRMC is a destination for care,” said JRMC President & CEO Mike Delfs. “Most importantly, our legendary teams are what make this possible.”

JRMC received this recognition last year. It also received the Top 20 designation in 2021. In 2022, eight North Dakota hospitals also received the Top 100 award. Nationwide, JRMC is one of 1,300 critical access hospitals.

“Our 350 difference makers deserve the credit,” Delfs said. “Because of them, JRMC is truly THE difference in the lives of those we serve. In addition, we are proud and grateful. Consequently, the community can feel confident in healthcare close to home.”

Based on publicly available data, the Hospital Strength INDEX® is the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. Rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations and state offices of rural health trust the INDEX®. That’s because those organizations use it to measure and monitor hospital operations and finance.

The data quantifies overall hospital performance in eight pillars which include: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspectives, costs, charges and financial stability.

This year, JRMC contributed to these pillars by:

developing new products including Good Medicine and Supervised Exercise Therapy through the CardioPulmonary Rehab department

exploring alternative staffing options to provide existing and new modalities in radiology

proving plans for safe care transitions

“Hospitals faced unprecedented adversity. However, rural providers remain committed to their communities,” said Michael Topchik, National Leader, The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

“Certainly, honoring the Top 100 is one of the highpoints of our year. This year, we are delighted to recognize our recipients. The pandemic caused extraordinary challenges for America’s rural health safety net. However, we are proud. Therefore, these hospitals should be proud too.”

About Jamestown Regional Medical Center

Jamestown Regional Medical Center in Jamestown, N.D. serves 55,000 people in nine counties.
