The plant will employ about 36 people and will use about 23 million bushels of corn to produce about 65 million gallons of the alternative fuel each year.<\/p>\n<p>The plant is to use excess steam power from Great River Energy&#8217;s Spiritwood Station. The combined heat and coal-fired power plant currently is idled due to lack of demand for electricity in Minnesota but is scheduled to come online in January 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking were Governor Jack Dalrymple along with U.S. Senator, John Hoeven, U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp and Congressman Kevin Cramer.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the groundbreaking ceremony, an open house was held featuring project partner exhibits, along with tours of the Spiritwood Station, followed by a picnic lunch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spiritwood, ND (KCSi-T.V.
