Valley City, ND August 16, 2013 (KCSi TV) – Two women were seriously injured in a crash about 5:04 p.m.,\u00a0Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup, driven by 69-year-old Sandra Burchill of rural Valley City was traveling westbound on Main Street at a high rate of speed and struck an eastbound 2012 Chevrolet Impala, driven by 65-year-old Geraldine Knutson of Valley City at the intersection of Main Street and 2nd Ave SE, which was preparing to turn north onto 2nd<\/sup> Avenue.<\/p>\n

The force of the collision sent both vehicles westward, striking 5 other vehicles, both moving and parked vehicles, before\u00a0coming to rest in front of the VFW.\u00a0 One car was pushed onto the sidewalk.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Barnes County Fire & Rescue crews extricated both women from their vehicles. Burchill was not wearing a seatbelt.\u00a0\u00a0 They both were transported to Mercy Hospital in Valley City, then to Sanford Hospital in Fargo by\u00a0 ground and air ambulance for treatment of injuries.<\/p>\n

Burchill was released.\u00a0 As of Sunday, \u00a0Knutson remained \u00a0in serious condition.\u00a0 Other drivers involved sustained possible minor injuries.\u00a0 Alcohol was not a factor.\u00a0 The crash remains under investigation.<\/p>\n

Also investigating at the scene were Valley City Police, and the Barnes County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
