HIGHS<br \/>\nIN THE UPPER 80S.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City, ND August 16, 2013 (KCSi TV) \u2013 Two women were seriously injured in a crash about 5:04 p.m.,\u00a0Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup, driven by 69-year-old Sandra Burchill of rural Valley City was traveling westbound on Main Street at a high rate of speed and struck an eastbound 2012 Chevrolet Impala, driven by 65-year-old Geraldine Knutson of Valley City at the intersection of Main Street and 2nd Ave SE, which was preparing to turn north onto 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Avenue.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The force of the collision sent both vehicles westward, striking 5 other vehicles, both moving and parked vehicles, before\u00a0coming to rest in front of the VFW.\u00a0 One car was pushed onto the sidewalk.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Barnes County Fire &amp; Rescue crews extricated both women from their vehicles. Burchill was not wearing a seatbelt.\u00a0\u00a0 They both were transported to Mercy Hospital in Valley City, then to Sanford Hospital in Fargo by ground, then air ambulance for treatment of serious injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Burchill was released.\u00a0 As of Sunday, \u00a0Knutson remained \u00a0in serious condition.\u00a0 Other drivers involved sustained possible minor injuries.\u00a0 Alcohol was not a factor.\u00a0 The crash remains under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Also investigating at the scene were Valley City Police, and the Barnes County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>LaMoure, ND (KCSi-T.V. News)\u00a0 \u2014 A Fullerton, N.D., teen died following an early morning crash Saturday (Aug 17, 2013)\u00a0near LaMoure.<\/p>\n<p>The \u00a0North Dakota Highway Patrol, reports, 18 year old\u00a0 Micah Wagner,\u00a0 was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 about 2 1\/2 miles south of LaMoure when the crash happened at 7:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The patrol says Wagner lost control of the vehicle on a gravel road. The vehicle went into the east ditch, through a barbed wire fence, into a pasture and overturned. Three of the five people in the vehicle were ejected.<\/p>\n<p>None of the occupants\u00a0was wearing a seat belt.<\/p>\n<p>All five were injured and transported to Oakes Medical Center, where Wagner died.<\/p>\n<p>The others in the vehicle were 21 year old Dylan Eull, of Verona,\u00a018 year old\u00a0Daniel Haugen,\u00a0of LaMoure;\u00a0 and 15 year old Madeline Haakenson, of \u00a0Dickey, and 14 year old Caitlin Miedema, of Litchville.<\/p>\n<p>Also responding to the crash were the LaMoure County Sheriff\u2019s Office and LaMoure County Fire and Ambulance.<\/p>\n<p>The Highway \u00a0Patrol\u00a0continues with the\u00a0 investigating.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tappen, ND\u00a0 (KCSi-T.V. News Aaug 18, 2013)\u00a0 \u2013\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, one person died and another was injured in a one-vehicle crash near Tappen,\u00a0 Sunday morning about 1-a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The report says a 2007 Chevrolet pickup was traveling\u00a0 about\u00a0a half a mile north of town when the\u00a0driver lost control of the vehicle,\u00a0 entering\u00a0the west ditch where it struck an approach and rolled.\u00a0Both occupants were thrown from the vehicle. Neither was wearing seat belts.<\/p>\n<p>24 year old Scott Lindegard, of Hallock, Minnesota, \u00a0was taken by Kidder County Ambulance to Sanford Health in Bismarck.\u00a0 His condition\u00a0 was not released.<\/p>\n<p>The other occupant of the vehicle, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead on scene.\u00a0 The car was totaled.\u00a0 The Patrol listed Lindegard\u00a0 as the driver, but the\u00a0 it is still investigating who was actually driving the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>The Stutsman County Sheriff&#8217;s Office reports a \u00a020-year-old rural Jamestown man rolled his vehicle about 12:10 a.m. Sunday (Aug 18, 2013) on U.S. Highway 52 near mile marker 263.<\/p>\n<p>The report says he was airlifted\u00a0to Sanford Hospital In Fargo, with possible life-threatening injuried,\u00a0after being extracated by the Jamestown Fire Department.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He was the lone occupant.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Deputy Damian Hoyt, says, the\u00a0driver, whose name is not\u00a0 being released, yet, was operating his vehicle at a high rate of speed,\u00a0 when it entered an east ditch, struck an approach, and\u00a0 rolled several times..<\/p>\n<p>Hoyt says, \u201cThe vehicle was destroyed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He says, alcohol was not a factor, but speed was.<\/p>\n<p>The driver was wearing a seat belt.<\/p>\n<p>The crash\u00a0remains \u00a0under investigation by the Sheriff\u2019s\u00a0Office and\u00a0 the North Dakota Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n<p>The NDHP, Jamestown Police, \u00a0and Jamestown Area Ambulance Service\u00a0responded to the scene.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Aug 16, 2013\u2013\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Friday afternoon identified one of the persons killed in Wednesday\u2019s crash between two tractor-trailer rigs.\u00a0 He was identifed as 46 year old Allen Tofsrud, of Leeds, North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>Tofsrud was driving a semi-truck east on Highway 46, failed to stop at the intersection and struck a northbound semi-truck on Highway 1. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>The name of the second man, driving the other rig is being withheld and will be released upon further investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. (AP) &#8211; A judge has refused to lower bond for one of the six suspects in the slaying of a Williston-area hobby rancher, saying there is probable cause to believe Jeremy Weyrauch was involved in the death of Jack Sjol.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Defense attorney Nicole Foster sought to reduce Weyrauch&#8217;s bond from $1 million to $25,000. She said during a court hearing Friday that Weyrauch passed a polygraph test, and that one of the questions was whether he had shot the 58-year-old Sjol.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prosecutor Nathan Madden said another of the suspects said during a phone call in prison that Weyrauch pulled the trigger first, and that Weyrauch&#8217;s only alibi for the day Sjol died was that he was &#8220;doing drugs and stealing stuff.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Weyrauch faces a murder conspiracy charge.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities say a man suspected of stealing more than $100,000 in nickel from mines in the northern Manitoba region of Canada has been arrested and turned over to U.S. Border Patrol agents.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 Bismarck Police Department and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police helped agents arrest the man, whose name has not been released.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 After Bismarck police received a tip that the man was in the city, police in Manitoba sent photographs to be distributed to homeless shelters. The man was arrested Aug. 12 at one of the shelters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Minot Mayor Curt Zimbelman says he won&#8217;t seek re-election next year for a fourth term.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nZimbelman made the announcement in a written statement.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Zimbelman, a banker, led the city through Souris River flooding in 2011 that swamped more than 4,000 homes and businesses in North Dakota&#8217;s fourth-largest city.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Zimbelman says &#8220;it&#8217;s time for new leadership to come in and continue the path of growth and prosperity.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Zimbelman was a longtime city alderman before he was elected mayor.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; One of North Dakota&#8217;s fastest growing cities is looking at building a $21 to $30 million pool that officials say would rival most facilities in the Upper Midwest.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The base option for the proposed West Fargo community and aquatics center would be a more than 81,000-square-foot facility with two stories.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It would include a large pool deck space, two-court gym, auxiliary gym, locker rooms, kitchen, park district offices and meeting and classroom space. It would have seating for 600 spectators and room for 400 athletes on the pool deck.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An upgrade option would increase the capacity to 1,200 fans.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The proposal would likely need to go before West Fargo voters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WALHALLA, N.D. (AP) &#8211; State and local officials are hosting a fossil dig at the Pembina River Gorge in northeastern North Dakota this week.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fossils as old as 80 million years were recently found in the area, including those of mosasaurs, giant sea lizards that were fearsome predators. Fossils of sharks and fish also have been found.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The dig is being hosted by the state Geological Survey and state Parks and Recreation Department, along with the Walhalla Economic Development Corp. Members of the public can participate for a fee, if there are any slots available.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The first piece to a proposed veterans memorial park has arrived in Grand Forks.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It&#8217;s a 24,000-pound anchor from a Navy ammunition ship.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 anchor from the USS Kiska was transported on a semi-truck from Texas to North Dakota. It was unloaded by crane last week into a park district storage facility.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The anchor is on loan from the U.S. Maritime Administration. The city will not have to pay for the anchor, but the contract requires that it be kept in good condition.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Other plans for the park include a tank, fighter jet and other military equipment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In sports&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; More than 80 anglers from nine states headed out on the Red River in the Grand Forks area for a large catfishing tournament.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cabela&#8217;s King Kat tournament organizer Darrell Van Vactorsays \u00a0the group always heard about fishing on the Red River and decided it would be a great location.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The event is sponsored by Outdoor Promotions, a non-profit that seeks to promote the outdoors as a way to bring families together. Minnesota went 2 for 18 with runners in scoring position and lost for the fifth time in six games.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BOSTON (AP) &#8211; Alex Rodriguez was hit by a pitch four innings before hitting his first homer of the season in the New York Yankees&#8217; 9-6 win over the Red Sox in Boston. Yankees manager Joe Girardi was ejected from the game by plate umpire Brian O&#8217;Nora after Red Sox pitcher Ryan Dempster wasn&#8217;t warned following the plunking.
