Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News)\u00a0 \u2013\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports a 39-year-old\u00a0Valley City man\u00a0died in a single-vehicle rollover crash, at 2:50- a.m. \u00a0on\u00a0 Saturday (Aug 24, 2013)<\/p>\n

The accident happened on\u00a0119th Avenue, \u00a0Southeast, \u00a0about \u00a05 miles south of Valley City.\u00a0\u00a0 The driver indentified as 39 year old Steven Welken, was traveling southbound when he lost control of the Jeep Wrangler, began to spin, and entered the ditch on the east side of the road and rolled.\u00a0 The report says\u00a0he was not wearing a seatbelt, and was ejected from the roof of the vehicle, which\u00a0continued \u00a0to roll on top of and pin the driver.<\/p>\n

He was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

The accident remains under investigation.<\/p>\n

Assisting\u00a0 the NDHP, were the \u00a0Barnes County Sheriif\u2019s Office and the , Valley City Fire Department.<\/p>\n

Fox News in Fargo reported that Steve Welken was the president of Grotberg Electric.\u00a0\u00a0
\nHe was very involved at Valley City State University. There are even chairs reserved for him at the basketball arena, where services will be held next week. His wife Erin said his impact was truly widespread.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News)\u00a0 \u2013\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports a Jamestown man was injured in a one car rollover, at 7:18-p.m.,\u00a0 on Friday, August 23, 2013, on Stutsman County Road 40, two miles west of Spiritwood.<\/p>\n

22 year old Eamon Reilly of Jamestown was westbound\u00a0 when\u00a0he driver lost control while cresting a hill.\u00a0 After the driver lost control of the vehicle,\u00a0it began a spin on the roadway, and \u00a0into the south ditch.\u00a0 After entering the south ditch, the car came to rest in the south ditch on its drivers side.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0was ejected from the 1969 Mustang during the crash.<\/p>\n

He was transported by the Jamestown Area Ambulance Service\u00a0to\u00a0 Jamestown Regional\u00a0Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

Reilly, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.\u00a0 The crash remains under investigation.\u00a0 The Highway Ptrol was assisted by the Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, two Carrington women were hurt in a three vehicle crash on Highway 52, north of Jamestown on Sunday (Aug 25, 2013).<\/p>\n

Highway Patrol Captain Bryan Niewind says two northbound vehicles, one driven by Kent Horton of Jamestown, struck the passenger side of a vehicle driven by Alisa Heskin of New Rockford.<\/p>\n

Both vehicle lost control went into a spin and struck a southbound car driven by Delon Harding of Carrington. All three vehicles came to rest in the ditch.<\/p>\n

Harding and a passenger June Larson of Carrington were transported to JRMC and treated for non-life threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

Gackle, ND\u00a0 (KCSi-T.V. News)\u00a0 \u2013\u00a0 A 27 year old Fredonia\u00a0\u00a0man was injured in a rollover motorcycle crash at 4:02 p.m. Saturday (Aug 24, 2013)\u00a0a mile and a half west of Gackle.<\/p>\n

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, 27 year old Michael Entzi,\u00a0 was driving a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on N.D. Highway 46 near mile marker 9 when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle left the road, entered the ditch and rolled.<\/p>\n

Entzi, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown.<\/p>\n

He was transported to Jamestown Medical Center by Gackle Ambulance,\u00a0with non-life-threatening injuries and cited for care required.<\/p>\n

The NDHP was assisted by the Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (Aug 23, 2013) \u2013 Residents and motorists are advised that the intersection of 2nd Ave NE and 4th St NE (Highway 20) is expected to remain closed through Monday, August 26, 2013.<\/p>\n

A detour is in place.<\/p>\n

Drivers are asked to slow down and use caution.<\/p>\n

Valley City, ND — (KCSi-T.V. News Aug 23, 2013) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the name of the second person killed in a fiery crash involving two semis, the morning of Wednesday August 14, 2013 at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 46 south of Valley City.<\/p>\n

He was identified as 64 year old Carl Bjugstad, of Sheldon, North Dakota. The report says he was not wearing a seat belt.<\/p>\n

The man driving the second semi was previously identified as 46-year-old Allen Tofsrud of Leeds, North Dakota.<\/p>\n

Highway Patrol Sgt. Tom Herzig\u2019s report says an eastbound semi pulling a hopper, operated by Tofsrud missed a stop sign and struck the northbound semi pulling a flat bed trailer, driven by Bjugstad, around 9 a.m.<\/p>\n

Witnesses say the fire engulfed both semi tractor trailers vehicles.<\/p>\n

Both vehicles were destroyed by the fire.<\/p>\n

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

Sgt. Herzig says there are precautions on the road where the crash happened, including rumble strips and flashing red and yellow lights.<\/p>\n

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n

Also on our show Kathy Vandeberghe said, the retreat is an opportunity for widows to immerse themselves in healing with no distractions in a relaxing, supportive and positively charged atmosphere with others who have experienced the loss of a husband.\u00a0 Participants will learn coping skills and about resources that may help during the grieving process.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol says 28-year-old Russell Allen Lockwood, of Brentwood, Calif., stopped his semitrailer on a service road about 25 miles north of Killdeer and left the vehicle for unknown reasons Saturday afternoon. The truck then rolled forward and struck the man.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Samuel Silk Junior is facing federal charges of assault by a habitual offender and assault resulting in serious bodily injury.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents show that Silk plans to plead guilty to the habitual offender charge. He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Tax Department is spending about $15,000 to promote a program that gives more tax relief to seniors and people with disabilities.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tax Commissioner Cory Fong says media advertising will begin this week notifying North Dakota residents on changes to the homestead tax credit program. He says about 237,000 brochures also are being mailed.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota’s homestead tax credit is now available for any homeowner who is disabled, or for North Dakota residents 65 years old or older who make less than $42,000 annually. The Legislature this year bumped the annual earning limit from $26,000 and raised the value of assets allowed under the program from $75,000 to $500,000.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Renters who meet certain income criteria also are eligible for a partial refund on the rent they pay.<\/p>\n

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – The potato crop in eastern North Dakota is late and could be in trouble if it gets cold early in the fall. North Dakota State University extension potato agronomist Andy Robinson says potatoes are 10 days to two weeks behind, and an early freeze “would be disastrous.” Cando farmer Mitch Jorde says he couldn’t plant his crop until June 4th because of the weather – a month later than normal.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The Public Service Commission says farmers should make sure they’re doing business with licensed and bonded grain buyers.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Cass County Sheriff Paul Laney has found an unexpected solution to the staff shortage at the county jail in eastern North Dakota.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Laney\u00a0 is asking for 13 new positions in his 2014 budget request as the jail prepares to quadruple the number of beds reserved for federal prisoners.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The jail now guarantees 10 beds for the U.S. Marshals Service at a daily rate of $60 per inmate through an arrangement made when the federal government provided grant money to help cover the cost of the jail, which opened in 2002.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Starting next year, Laney plans to set aside another 30 beds for federal prisoners at a higher negotiated rate of $75 per inmate. That’s the same rate other area law enforcement agencies pay the county.<\/p>\n
