VALLEY CITY (VCSU<\/a>) \u2013 The University of Jamestown made 17 3’s on Saturday night, shooting its way to a 103-84 win over the Valley City State men’s basketball team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jimmies made 11 3’s in the first half, opening up a 55-36 lead at the break. Both teams scored 48 points in the second half as the Vikings could get no closer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valley City State drops to 3-3 overall this season. Jamestown, ranked No. 9 in the NAIA, improves to 3-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duoth Gach<\/a> had 19 points, three steals and three assists to lead Valley City State’s offense. Tate Hebrink<\/a> added 16 points on 5-for-7 shooting, and Joseph Owens<\/a> had 12 points and five rebounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mason Walters led Jamestown with 34 points and 11 rebounds. Cole Woodford scored 18 points on six 3-pointers, and Reid Gastner scored 15 points on five 3-pointers for the Jimmies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VCSU shot 43 percent overall (30-70), 32 percent on 3’s (6-19) and 78 percent on free throws (18-23). Jamestown finished the game at 59 percent overall (41-69), 47 percent on 3’s (17-36) and 50 percent on free throws (4-8).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jamestown held a 37-32 rebounding advantage, but the Vikings had a 15-11 edge on the offensive glass. VCSU had 12 steals and forced the Jimmies into 15 turnovers. The Vikings turned it over just 10 times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
