(AP) &#8211; A North Dakota college student who went<br \/>\nmissing for nearly a week before turning up in Arizona says she had<br \/>\na bout of amnesia and didn&#8217;t know who she was.<br \/>\nTwenty-two-year-old Valley City State University student Amber<br \/>\nGlatt vanished on the Fourth of July, prompting aerial searches.<br \/>\nShe contacted her mother five days later from the Grand Canyon. Her<br \/>\nmother says Glatt has had recurring amnesia since suffering a head<br \/>\ninjury years ago.<br \/>\nGlatt says after she lost<br \/>\nher memory she met a man in a bar who let her tag along on his trip<br \/>\nto the Grand Canyon. She says the man eventually saw online that<br \/>\nshe&#8217;d been reported missing and alerted her.<br \/>\nGlatt says she regained most of her memory on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Sanford Health says it will invest $200<br \/>\nmillion over the next 10 years on health care services in the<br \/>\nBismarck-Mandan are and throughout western North Dakota.<br \/>\nSanford merged with Bismarck-based Medcenter One on July 2,<br \/>\nboosting the health system to more than 1,200 physicians and 25,000<br \/>\nemployees in seven states. Sanford is based in Fargo, N.D., and<br \/>\nSioux Falls, S.D.<br \/>\nThe expansion will include a new super clinic in Dickinson with<br \/>\nspace for additional physicians, a walk-in clinic, an ambulatory<br \/>\nsurgery center and diagnostic services.<br \/>\nMedcenter One and Sanford clinics in Jamestown will continue to operate separately, at this time.<br \/>\nSanford says it will recruit more physicians, expand air<br \/>\ntransport and trauma services, provide the latest medical<br \/>\ntechnology and innovations in care and expand and upgrade services<br \/>\nand facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The Jamestown Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will host the 23rd Jamestown Garden Tour, Wednesday July 18, 2012, from 5-p.m., to 8-p.m.<br \/>\nOn Thursday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, spokesperson Kelly Krien said featured gardens this year include:<br \/>\nPaul &amp; Kim Lunde, at 1605 7th Avenue Southeast, which features a garden cottage in the yard.<br \/>\nThe tour also takes in the garden next door at 1601 7th Avenue, Southeast, belonging to John Zvirovski.<br \/>\nAlso on the tour are the gardens of Frank &amp; DeAnn Schumacher, at 233 23rd Avenue, Northeast, and the garden of John &amp; Brenda Weron, including a vegetable garden, at 3540 6th Avenue, Northwest.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Krein added, during the tour hours, visitors may also stop at the Jamestown Arts Center for refreshments, and to view the current exhibit. (AP) &#8211; A northeastern North Dakota man has lost<br \/>\nan appeal of his murder conviction for beating his brother to death<br \/>\ntwo years ago.<br \/>\nRodney Chisholm of Manvel claimed he was defending himself when<br \/>\nhe hit his brother, Donald Chisholm, with an iron pipe and put a<br \/>\nhose clamp around his neck.<br \/>\nAt his trial, Rodney Chisholm said his brother had been<br \/>\nthreatening to shoot him over a property dispute.<br \/>\nRodney Chisholm&#8217;s lawyer says the trial judge should have<br \/>\nallowed testimony about an incident where Donald Chisholm allegedly<br \/>\nthreatened Rodney Chisholm with a pistol and shotgun.<br \/>\nThe judge wouldn&#8217;t allow testimony about the incident because it<br \/>\nhappened at least 10 years before Donald Chisholm was killed.<br \/>\nThe Supreme Court on Thursday unanimously upheld the judge&#8217;s<br \/>\ndecision and the jury&#8217;s murder verdict.<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s Supreme Court has affirmed<br \/>\na Minot woman&#8217;s murder sentence in the beating death of her<br \/>\n19-month-old boy.<br \/>\nThe toddler&#8217;s skull and jaw were broken and he was covered with<br \/>\nbruises when he died in February 2011.<br \/>\nCassondra Ayala pleaded guilty to murder in the child&#8217;s death.<br \/>\nNorthwest District Judge Doug Mattson ordered the woman to serve 22<br \/>\nyears in prison.<br \/>\nIn her Supreme Court appeal, Ayala claimed Mattson didn&#8217;t pay<br \/>\nenough attention to her psychological problems when he was deciding<br \/>\nher sentence.<br \/>\nThe high court affirmed Mattson&#8217;s sentence in a one-paragraph<br \/>\norder on Thursday.<br \/>\nAyala&#8217;s boyfriend, Anthony Robinson, also pleaded guilty to<br \/>\nmurder in the case. Robinson was ordered to serve 27 years in<br \/>\nprison.<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s Supreme Court has ruled a<br \/>\nbicycle counts as a vehicle when it comes to enforcing drunken<br \/>\ndriving laws. Matthew Johnston of Lincoln was arrested last year<br \/>\nafter he slammed his bike into a pickup truck. His lawyer<br \/>\nunsuccessfully argued that since a bicycle moves under human power,<br \/>\nit isn&#8217;t considered a vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The trial for a former Fargo surgeon accused<br \/>\nof drugging and raping his wife likely will begin in November.<br \/>\nJudge Douglas Herman on Wednesday set a Nov. 5 trial date for Jon Norberg, who is charged in Cass County District Court with gross sexual imposition<br \/>\nand reckless endangerment.<br \/>\nNorberg is accused of having sex with his wife, Alonna Norberg,<br \/>\nwhile she was on propofol, a powerful sedative.<br \/>\nThe Associated Press typically does not identify victims of sex<br \/>\ncrimes but Alonna Norberg has spoken publicly, once to deny her<br \/>\nhusband&#8217;s claims she agreed to the medication as part of treatment<br \/>\nfor a debilitating disease.<br \/>\nDefense attorney Robert Hoy requested the later date because he<br \/>\nis receiving discovery information and waiting for prosecutors to<br \/>\nrelease expert testimony.<\/p>\n<p>POWELL, Wyo. (AP) &#8211; A Utah man suspected of holding up banks in<br \/>\nfour states after being furloughed from jail will be brought to<br \/>\nWyoming to face charges.<br \/>\nJoshua Beckstead was arrested on July 4th in North Dakota on a<br \/>\nfederal warrant accusing him of holding up banks in Cody and<br \/>\nCheyenne, Wyoming.<br \/>\nThe 32-year-old waived<br \/>\nhis right to extradition hearings, clearing the way for his transfer.<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s Board of Higher Education<br \/>\nhas approved its proposed budget for the next two years. Now board<br \/>\nmembers will see how the Legislature responds next year.<br \/>\nBoard members on Thursday endorsed asking for a 16 percent<br \/>\ngeneral fund spending increase for the next two years.<br \/>\nThat adds up to almost $700 million for North Dakota&#8217;s 11 public<br \/>\ncolleges. The figure includes North Dakota State University&#8217;s<br \/>\nextension service and agricultural research stations.<br \/>\nBoard members also want 14 building and renovation projects.<br \/>\nThey would cost $146 million.<\/p>\n<p>The presidents of most of North Dakota&#8217;s 11 public colleges are getting 3 percent pay increases.<br \/>\nThe exception is Williston State College. Williston President<br \/>\nRay Nadolny (nah-DOL&#8217;-nee) got a 6 percent raise. He&#8217;s now making<br \/>\nalmost $168,000 a year.<br \/>\nAmong the presidents, the University of North Dakota&#8217;s Robert<br \/>\nKelley has the biggest salary. He&#8217;s making $340,000 with the raise.<br \/>\nNadolny&#8217;s salary is the smallest, even with the 6 percent raise.<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Congressman Rick Berg says is asking House leaders to bring the 2012 Farm Bill up for a vote by the full chamber as quickly as possible. The North Dakota Republican says getting a farm bill out of the House Agriculture Committee is a big step forward for farmers and ranchers, but the act must be reauthorized quickly. The committee passed the measure on a 35-11 vote yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>In sports\u2026<\/p>\n<p>JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Sports Hall of Fame will<br \/>\nhave three new members after this weekend.<br \/>\nFormer major league baseball players Darin Erstad and Rick<br \/>\nHelling and legendary high school basketball coach Ed Beyer are<br \/>\nbeing inducted into the hall in Jamestown during a banquet<br \/>\nSaturday.<br \/>\nErstad played outfield and first base in the majors for 14<br \/>\nyears, for the Los Angeles Angels and two other teams. During his<br \/>\ncareer he was an all-star, a gold glove winner and a World Series<br \/>\nchampion.<br \/>\nHelling pitched 13 years for five teams. He won 20 games with<br \/>\nthe Texas Rangers in 1998, and won two World Series rings with the<br \/>\nFlorida Marlins.<br \/>\nBeyer coached the Hillsboro boys&#8217; basketball team for nearly<br \/>\nfour decades, retiring as the winningest boys&#8217; coach in North<br \/>\nDakota history.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND &#8212; (KCSi-T.V Sports Jul 13, 2012) &#8212; Jamestown College announces that Nick Becker has been named the head women\u2019s soccer coach.<br \/>\nBecker has 12 years of experience and education in management, development, and leadership of a team. Becker\u2019s experience includes being a Northern Blast Club Soccer Team Coach, and directing skills and conditioning camps for high school players. He was also part of the South Dakota State coaching staff and was a graduate assistant for the Northern State University Women\u2019s Soccer Program where he assisted the head coach in planning, developing and promoting the program as well as helping with practice and recruitment and learning the conference rules and procedures.<br \/>\n&#8220;Coach Becker is young but has been well-mentored,\u201d said Lawrie Paulson, Jamestown College Director of Athletics. \u201cHe has an understanding of who we are and what we are about as a school. I think he will do an excellent job leading our women&#8217;s team, and I think this hire will end up helping both soccer programs move forward.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>MINNEAPOLIS (AP) &#8211; The heat wave is taking its toll on fish in<br \/>\nthe Upper Midwest. High water temperatures and low oxygen levels<br \/>\nhave combined to kill thousands of fish in Minnesota, the Dakotas<br \/>\nand Wisconsin.<br \/>\nThousands of northern pike died in several shallow southern<br \/>\nMinnesota lakes since last week. Large numbers of northerns have<br \/>\nalso died in shallow southern Wisconsin lakes, as well as in the<br \/>\nJames River in southeast North Dakota and northeast South Dakota<br \/>\nthis past week.<br \/>\nNortherns are vulnerable because they&#8217;re better suited to cooler<br \/>\ntemperatures and can&#8217;t seek refuge in the depths when lakes and<br \/>\nstreams are less than 6 feet deep.<br \/>\nWhile the region&#8217;s most popular fishing lakes have been spared,<br \/>\nofficials warn that additional die-offs are possible as the summer<br \/>\nprogresses.<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; State and federal wildlife officials have completed stocking nearly 10 million walleye fingerlings in 113 North Dakota lakes.<br \/>\nJerry Weigel (WY&#8217;-guhl) with the state Game and Fish Department says 8.7 million fingerlings came from the Garrison Dam National Fish Hatchery and 1.1 million came from the Valley City National Fish Hatchery.<br \/>\nNotable stockings included 4 million fingerlings in Lake Sakakawea and more than half a million in Stump Lake.<br \/>\nFisheries crews will check on survival rates and natural reproduction in the fall.<\/p>\n<p>FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) &#8211; The New York Jets have signed undrafted free agent Paul Cornick, a tackle from North Dakota State. Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum announced the signing yesterday. Police<br \/>\nin riot gear broke up a crowd of about 200 last night, in a clash<br \/>\nthat went on for about three hours and left one officer injured.<\/p>\n<p>SANFORD, Fla. (AP) &#8211; A Florida woman has been rescued after<br \/>\nspending three days stuck in her car in a water-filled ditch. The<br \/>\nBaker County Sheriff&#8217;s office says the woman was driving down a<br \/>\ndirt road in a state forest when she crashed Monday. A forest<br \/>\nservice ranger spotted her yesterday in water that covered the hood<br \/>\nof the car and the woman&#8217;s lap.
