Valley City (VCSU)<\/a> \u2013 Wednesday at Valley City, the Valley City State men’s basketball team evened its season record with a commanding 111-32 win over Trinity Bible College on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vikings took control early with a 37-point halftime advantage as they cruised to their fifth win of the season. All 14 Vikings scored in the game and five reached double figures.<\/p>\n\n\n

Valley City State is now 5-5 overall this season heading into conference play. The Vikings have their NSAA conference opener on Saturday when they host Dickinson State University. The women’s game tips at 3 p.m. with the men’s game to follow at 5 p.m. from VCSU’s W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse. Tickets are available for purchase at www.vcsuvikings.com\/tickets<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vikings shot 53 percent overall (40-76) in Wednesday’s big win, and went 17-for-39 on 3’s and 14-for-22 on free throws. VCSU recorded assists on 26 of their 40 baskets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daevonte Munson<\/a> totaled 15 points, four assists and three steals to lead a balanced Viking effort. Cayden Rickard<\/a> made four 3’s and finished with 15 points and three assists. Duoth Gach<\/a> and Matthew Schlottman<\/a> both made three 3’s and finished with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Keaton Kvilvang<\/a> also reached double figures, scoring 10 points off the bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vikings forced Trinity Bible into 28 turnovers while turning it over just nine times. VCSU finished with 19 steals and also held a 52-26 rebounding advantage, including a 17-4 edge on the offensive glass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One week after making a school record 18 3’s in a win against Oak Hills, the Vikings followed it up with 17 3’s in the victory over Trinity Bible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Khalil Bolden scored 10 points to lead the Lions, which shot 26 percent overall (14-54), 13 percent on 3’s (2-16) and 40 percent on free throws (2-5).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Up next: <\/strong>Valley City State (5-5) begins conference play Saturday. The Vikings host Dickinson State for a NSAA doubleheader. The women tip off at 3 p.m. and the men follow at 5 p.m. at VCSU’s W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Women<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VCSU’<\/a>s Hailey Roberts<\/a> posted a career-best 22 points and four Vikings scored in double figures to help the Vikings to a 7-2 record on the season. Trinity Bible falls to 2-3 overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vikings built a 37-25 lead at the break as Roberts and Taryn Dieterle<\/a> each posted 13 first-half points. From there, VCSU improved its 33 percent shooting in the first half to 53 percent in the second half. VCSU used a 10-point run, capped by a bucket from Bayli Heap<\/a>, to lead by as much as 37 points with 4:39 to go in the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dieterle finished with 15 points Wednesday and JayCee Richter<\/a> chipped in 14 points while going 4-for-6 from 3-point range. Ashlyn Diemert<\/a> added 10 points and a team-best five steals for VCSU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vikings shot 43 percent on field goals (34-80), 33 percent on 3-pointers (12-36) and 88 percent on free throws (16-18). Trinity Bible shot 38 percent from the field (18-47), 36 percent from beyond the arc (4-11) and 55 percent from the free throw line (18-33). VCSU scored 45 points off its bench and 37 off turnovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VCSU won the battle on the glass 46-40 with the help of nine rebounds from Rosie Anderson<\/a>. Dieterle added seven and Adriana Torres<\/a> grabbed six rebounds and dished out five assists Wednesday. The Vikings tallied 25 assists and 17 turnovers while Trinity Bible totaled 13 assists to its 31 turnovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trinity Bible’s Stacia West led scoring with 18 points, and Abby Molan finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
