Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Sept 4, 2013) — The Jamestown Rescue Squad was called to a vehicle extracation about 7:50-a.m., Wednesday at 10th Avenue Northeast and 16 1\/2 Street Northeast.<\/p>\n

Jamestown City Fire Chief Jim Reuther said, no other damages outside of the vehicles were reported.<\/p>\n

Eight fire fighters were on the scene until about 8:23 a.m.<\/p>\n

Jamestown Police say, 18 year old Brittany O\u2019Neill, was driving a 2001 Ford pickup south on 10th Avenue approaching the intersection with 16 1\/2 Street.<\/p>\n

\u00a0A Ford car, driven by\u00a0 18 year old Emily Suckow,\u00a0of Jamestown, was struck by\u00a0the \u00a0vehicle driven by O\u2019Neill. Suckow and her 17-year-old male passenger were transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center<\/p>\n

The police say the fire department used the “Jaws of Life” to remove one of the juvenile passengers out of the car. The driver and a passenger removed from the car were transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center by Jamestown Area Ambulance Service.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Neill reported an injury but declined treatment.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Neill was cited for failed to yield.<\/p>\n

Damage was estimated at $5,000 to the Ford truck and the car was totaled.
\nJamestown, ND (sept 5, 2013) \u2013 As crews continue their work on Jamestown sanitary sewer project, residents and drivers are asked to be aware of the following closures and construction taking place.<\/p>\n

Third Ave NW Closure<\/p>\n

The closure currently in place on 3rd Ave NW from 4th St NW to 3rd St NW has been extended for a half block south of 3rd St NW. This closure is expected to be in place for about one week.<\/p>\n

3rd Ave NW is now open from 5th St NW to 4th St NW. Motorists and residents should be aware that cleanup and other miscellaneous work is expected to take place in this area periodically during the next few weeks.<\/p>\n

Twelfth Ave SE Closure<\/p>\n

12th Ave SE is closed from 3rd St SE to 5th St SE.<\/p>\n

Work is expected to last for about two weeks.<\/p>\n

Motorists are reminded to be aware of work currently taking place on 3rd St SE from 12th Ave SE, near the railroad tracks, to 11th Ave SE. 3rd St SE will remain open during this time. However, drivers are asked slow down, use caution and be aware of lane closures. Flaggers will be present during work hours to direct traffic. Work in this area is expected to last for about another week.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to a grass fire on Thursday (Sept 5, 2013) about 10:09 a.m., in the area behind Sanford Health in Northeast Jamestown.<\/p>\n

City Fire Department Chief Jim Reuther said the cause was a short in an electrical transformer box at ground level, as the fire was being fought with fire extinguishers by staff at Sanford.<\/p>\n

Reuther said a small area of grass was burned, and that the building was not threatened by the fire, and no other damages reported, to other nearby buildings.<\/p>\n

An electrical outage was reported in the Sanford building, but other buildings did not appear to have been affected by a power outage.<\/p>\n

The power outage cause delays in the Sanford patients appointments.<\/p>\n

No injuries with six units and 28 fire fighters remaining on the scene until about 10:30 a.m., until Otter Tail Power crews arrived.<\/p>\n

Jamestown,ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The Buffalo City Tourism Director, Searle Swedlund says, after a slow start, tourism in Jamestown picked up.<\/p>\n

On Thursday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Swedlund said the car count at Frontier Village was up 10 percent, from 38,000 visitors last year to 42,000 this year.<\/p>\n

He noted that the Frontier Village remains open this month with reduced hours of 9-a.m. to 7-p.m.<\/p>\n

He said the National Buffalo Museum is marking its 20th<\/sup> anniversary this year. The Museum is open 9-a.m., to 5-p.m., and includes the gift shop.<\/p>\n

On our show Swedlund pointed out several upcoming events and activities planned the next few weeks in Jamestown, available on the Tourism calendar distributed around the area, and posted on line at CsiNewsNow.com in the Big Calendar.<\/p>\n

He added that the Buffalo City Tourism Foundation is continuing to meet and discuss updates to the tourism and marketing in the future.<\/p>\n

Swedlund also says Jeff Shell from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin will be in Jamestown the first weekend in October for a 100 mile ride.<\/p>\n

Shell is traveling all 50 states to do a “century ride” in each state and will be doing North Dakota\u2019s in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Swedlund says Shell heard about Jamestown from a social media website called “map my ride” that allows road bikers to share their rides with others.<\/p>\n

News Sept. 5, 2013) – Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) is proud to announce the certification of its cardiac rehabilitation program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). JRMC was recognized for its commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of care.<\/p>\n

Cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation programs are designed to help people with cardiovascular problems (e.g., heart attacks, coronary artery bypass graft surgery) and pulmonary problems (e.g., chronic obstructive pulmonary disease \u2013 COPD, respiratory symptoms) recover faster and improve their quality of life. Both programs include exercise, education, counseling and support for patients and their families.<\/p>\n

The JRMC cardiac rehabilitation program participated in an application process that requires extensive documentation of the program\u2019s practices. AACVPR Program Certification is the only peer-reviewed accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by AACVPR and other professional societies. Each program is reviewed by the AACVPR Program Certification Committee and Certification is awarded by the AACVPR Board of Directors.<\/p>\n

AACVPR-certified programs are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation because they offer the most advanced practices available. AACVPR Program Certification is valid for three years.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — Patriot’s Day this year will be commemorated on Thursday, September 12, 2013.<\/p>\n

Charlie Kourajian, Chairman of the Jamestown Patriotic Council,says the change of date was due to scheduling conflicts at the All Vets Club.<\/p>\n

Kourajian says, “This will be the 12th Anniversary of the terrorist attacks on our country. The tragic events of September 11, twelve years ago, are constant reminders what can happen in our country if we are not vigilant”<\/p>\n

Patriots Day will feature a “Freedom Walk” in downtown Jamestown at 6 p.m. to commemorate the events of that day and to honor our first responders in our community. We encourage people of all ages to walk the short distance with us, or ride if walking is not possible.<\/p>\n

The walk will start with the playing of the National Anthem and the pledge to the flag and then proceed around downtown. After the short walk the Vets Club will be serving a free will offering spaghetti supper to all present, followed by a short program.<\/p>\n

\u3000\u00a0WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) – Canadian authorities have charged a Fargo man with multiple crimes.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Royal Canadian Mounted Police say 29-year-old Joshua James Grandbois was arrested this week in a wooded area in Cartier, Manitoba.
\n\u00a0
\nHe’s charged with illegal border crossing, theft of a motor vehicle, mischief, possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a vehicle and other counts.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 According to a news release, the RCMP learned Saturday that a car with North Dakota plates had illegally entered Canada and that its driver crossed the border north of Rolla, N.D., without reporting to Canada Border Services.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The agency says the driver was fleeing U.S. authorities at the time.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A man arrested in connection with a deputy sheriff’s fatal heart attack has been cleared to stand trial.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Robbie Roberson’s case was put on hold in May 2012 after a judge found him mentally incompetent.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Lincoln man was charged in September 2011 with terrorizing, resisting arrest, fleeing and drunken driving after a Burleigh County deputy stopped Roberson for speeding.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say that when he didn’t comply, the deputy used his Taser twice to try to control Roberson, but his aggressive, violent behavior continued and the stress caused Deputy Bryan Sleeper to have a fatal heart attack.\u00a0

\nPpsychologists say Roberson suffers from schizophrenia but has been found able to assist in his defense.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – Drought conditions have worsened in a portion of the Midwest including the eastern Dakotas, as the region experienced its hottest week of the year. The extreme heat and near record low August rainfall combined to expand drought conditions from the Dakotas southeastward into western Illinois.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The chairman of the U.S. Senate’s Energy and Natural Resources Committee is touring the western North Dakota oil patch.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden is being hosted by North Dakota Sen. John Hoeven on today and Saturday. Hoeven says Wyden will meet with community leaders and energy workers to get a firsthand look at the development and the region’s infrastructure needs.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota in recent years has become the second-largest oil and gas producing state in the nation. Wyden calls the boom in the Bakken oil fields “historic” and says it’s “rewriting the playbook for American energy.” He says he wants to see it for himself.<\/p>\n

As the meeting started, Obama said the two countries will continue to have disagreements, but the tensions can be managed. China and the U.S. did announce they’re moving ahead with efforts to phase out hydrofluorocarbons, the greenhouse gases blamed for global warming.
